UEFA Champions League Qualifying Betting Opportunities for Playoff Round
Qarabag FK +275 vs FC Viktoria Plzen +103
Tuesday, August 23 at 3:00 pm ET
Viktoria Plzen, the home favorite, is a solid play. In the first match between these two, Plzen escaped Qarabag with a draw.
Qarabag controlled the match with 66% of possession. But Viktoria knew they’d get a crack at Qarabag in the second match at home. Expect Viktoria to take advantage of Qarabag and win this match.
Soccer Pick: FC Viktoria Plzen
FC Dynamo Kiev +1.5 -140 vs Benfica Lisbon -1.5 +106
Tuesday, August 23 at 3:00 pm ET
Before the first match between these two, Dynamo Kiev had played well. The road squad in this had beaten Fenerbahce and Sturm Graz twice on their way to a matchup against Benfica.
But the Portueguese Liga squad rocked Dynamo with a 2 goals to 0 victory. There’s no reason to believe that Benfica, who has won 3 Champions League qualifiers and a couple of league matches in their last 5, can’t win another by at least 2 goals.
Soccer Pick: Benfica -1.5
Maccabi Haifa FC +340 vs FK Crvena Zvezda Belgrade -131
Tuesday, August 23 at 3:00 pm ET
Belgrade versus Haifa should be a terrific match. The first leg produced five goals. Maccabi star Frantzdy Pierrot scored 2 and Tjarron Cherry had 1.
Zvezda players Alexander Pesic and Guelor Kanda each scored a goal in a losing effort. The goal differential is only 1, which means Maccabi can’t stay back and play a defensive match.
Haifa must attack. These two both controlled time of possession. Belgrade should win, but the odds difference makes Maccabi the play.
Soccer Pick: Maccabi Haifa
FC Copenhagen +255 vs Trabzonspor -102
Wednesday, August 24 at 3:00 pm ET
Trabzonspor is on a 2-match losing streak. Copenhagen has won 2 straight. But although the road team in this beat the home squad 2-1 in the first leg, we shouldn’t expect a repeat effort.
Trabzonspor is one of the better teams in the underrated Turkish Super Lig. The home chalk will have plenty of chances to turn the tables on their rival. Expect Trabzonspor to win in regulation.
Soccer Pick: Trabzonspor
Bodoe/Glimt +285 vs GNK Dinamo Zagreb -117
Wednesday, August 24 at 3:00 pm ET
In their last 5 Champions League qualifying matches, Croatian squad Dinamo Zagreb has 3 wins, a draw, and a loss.
The loss happened versus Bodoe/Glimt in the last. Bodoe beat Dinamo 1-0. But the venue changes for the second leg. Zagreb is the better team. They should have no trouble turning the tables. A 2 goals or more victory in regulation is a real possibility.
Soccer Pick: Dinamo Zagreb
Glasgow Rangers +302 vs PSV Eindhoven -135
Wednesday, August 24 at 3:00 pm ET
Rangers versus Eindhoven should be an excellent match. Glasgow played great in this past season’s Europa League Championship, losing a close one to Bundesliga squad Eintracht Frankfurt.
Eindhoven is a solid club. The chalk has the edge because this happens on their pitch. But these two drew 2-2 in the last. So although Eindhoven is a decent play, the draw is better. The winner of this aggregate could come down to penalty kicks.
Soccer Pick: Draw

UEFA Champions League 2020 Update
Previous Betting News
By the time we reached the end of March, most of us doubted that football would be returning anytime soon. Rumors soon began circulating that some of the major European leagues were looking at a restart, and while a couple did end up cancelling the season, we now have the Bundesliga, Serie A, La Liga, and English Premier League back in business. The question that remained was about what UEFA would do about the Champions League, but after a major announcement on Wednesday, we now have some of the answers. Let’s take a look at who will be in and the format that UEFA will be following in the coming weeks so you can start panning ahead your bets against their Champions League odds.
UEFA Champions League 2020 Update
Which Teams are Still in the Champions League?
There are 4 teams who have currently booked their place in the final 8, and they are Paris Saint-Germain, RB Leipzig, Atalanta, and Atletico Madrid. They will be joined by 4 more teams once the second legs of the Round of 16 are played. We will get into that in a moment, but let’s take a look at the 4 fixtures that are still to be played, with the first leg score in parentheses.
Man City (2) vs (1) Real Madrid
Bayern Munich (3) vs (0) Chelsea
Juventus (0) vs (1) Lyon
Barcelona (1) vs (1) Napoli
UEFA are looking to have these games played on August 7 and 8, but it has yet to be decided whether those games will be played at the home stadiums of the teams or at a neutral venue in Lisbon.
The Champions League Final 8 Mini-Tournament
The one thing that has been confirmed is that the last 8 teams will congregate in Lisbon for a mini-tournament, with games played as a straight knockout as opposed to the two legs that we are used to in the Champions League. The games will be split between the Estadio da Luz (home of Benfica) and the Estadia Jose Alvalade (home of Sporting Lisbon). The condensed tournament will run from August 12 through 23, with the following dates to be followed.
Champions League last-16: August 7-8
Champions League quarter-finals: August 12-15
Champions League semi-finals: August 18-19
Champions League final: August 23
Will Fans be in Attendance?
All the domestic leagues that have returned to play have done so with games played behind closed doors. UEFA have stated that if a decision had to be made today, the Champions League would follow the same format. There is still plenty of time to decide whether or not fans will be allowed to take in this tournament, with the final decision set to be announced before July 10.

Which team between Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City offers the fairest or overlay odds?
Paris Saint-Germain drew 1-1 versus Club Brugge while Man City beat what’s supposed to be a decent Bundesliga squad in RB Leipzig 6-3. But before writing the Sky Blues are the better play, it’s important to note a couple of things.
First, Paris has yet to become a cohesive unit. Once Mbappe, Messi, Neymar and the rest gel, PSG should dominate.
Not only that, but Paris Saint-Germain often plays well in the Champions League. They lost to Bayern in the 2020 title match by a single goal.
City is solid for sure, but they play in the top European league, the Premier. PSG should be well-rested because they mustn’t play Neymar, Mbappe, or Messi for the entire time in matches versus Ligue 1 rivals.
At this point, Paris is the better bet.
Which team is the best play among Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Liverpool
Bayern continues to impress. Not only did they dust Barcelona 3-0 in their first Champions League match, but Robert Lewandowski and his mates followed up the victory with a 7-0 win over Bochum. Bayern also beat Leipzig 4-1 and Hertha 5-0.
Liverpool also looks like a solid play. The Reds beat a decent AC Milan squad 3-2.
But although Bayern and Liverpool are tough to go against, the defending champs are the team to back. Lukaku appears to be the difference as the Blues not only impressed with a workmanlike 1-0 victory over Zenit in their first UCL match, but have also gone 4-1 with a draw in EPL play.
+700 is more than fair on a team with a great defense and, now with Lukaku, a solid attack.
Do either Man United or Real Madrid offer fair odds?
Man United doesn’t. Real Madrid does. The Red Devils lost their first match to the Young Boys. Man U could struggle to get Sancho and Ronaldo on the same page.
Real beat Inter Milano 1-0 in their first UCL match. RM looks like a solid underdog. Real leads La Liga’s Primera Division and the team is playing like a cohesive unit now that Carlo Ancelotti has returned.
Which teams among Atletico, Juventus, Barca, Dortmund and Inter offer the fairest or overlay odds?
Both Dortmund and Inter are worth a look. Dortmund can score against any team in the Champions League save for rival Bayern.
As long as Erling Haaland remains healthy, Borussia can win matches. Same goes for Inter and Lautaro Martinez.
Martinez may be the best Argentinian player in the world. Inter Milano is 2 points behind Napoli on the Serie A Standings.
As long as Martinez and Haaland remain on the pitch for their respective teams, both Inter and Dortmund will play competitively in their Champions League matches. That’s all we can ask from a couple of underdog squads.
