We are now at the halfway point of the new NFL season, and it is quickly becoming clear that some teams are not up for the challenge.
There are several coaches now sitting on the hot seat, with every result from this point forward contributing to the temperature of those seats.
My NFL Betting Analysis in the Week 8
On the flipside, there are a small selection of teams who are very much looking the part, although only 1 team is still unbeaten at this point.
That would be the Kansas City Chiefs, who strengthened their team with a midweek trade that we will talk about further in a moment.
This weekend, the Chiefs will be hitting the road to face the Las Vegas Raiders, one of the teams that looks well off it.
No real surprise here that the Chiefs are in as a 9 ½ point favorite for this game, with the total set at 41 ½.
^Kansas City Chiefs Odds -526
Like we said at the top of this piece, the Kansas City Chiefs come into this weekend as the last unbeaten team in the league, going 6-0 through their first 6 games.
Despite going unbeaten, there are still some concerns about their play, as they have had to grind out wins in some of those games.
They seem to have recognized that, as they strengthened their offense by picking up DeAndre Hopkins this week, although whether he starts remains to be seen.
As well as winning games, which includes a 7-game win streak away from home, the Chiefs have also been a great bet against the spread, going 10-1-1 ATS in their last 12 overall.
They have won 6 of their last 7 versus the Raiders and are 4-2 ATS in their last 6 versus this team.
In their last 8 games versus teams from the AFC West, the UNDER has hit 7 times.

Las Vegas Raiders Odds +370
There are already signs that the Raider have given up on this season and might be looking ahead, most notably in that they traded away Davante Adams a couple of weeks back.
They are now 2-6 this season and come into this game on a 3-game losing skid.
The biggest issue for this team is under center, so you now have to wonder if they will be willing to tank the remainder of the season in hopes of getting a high draft pick that could potentially get them one of the elite QBs coming out of college football this season.
Might they want Carson Beck from UGA to hook up with Brock Bowers, who is on pace to be Rookie of the Year? Home field advantage does not seem to matter here, with the Raiders losing 6 in a row at home to the Chiefs.
The Raiders are 2-4 ATS in their last 6 games in Week 8, while the OVER has hit in 4 of their last 5 home games.

Chiefs at Raiders Betting Prediction in NFL Week 8
Given the current form of both teams, it seems like an absolute slam dunk for the Chiefs here. The bigger questions appear to be the spread.
I think we will see the Chiefs cover and the total go OVER.
Kansas City Chiefs 33, Las Vegas Raiders 10

2023 Raiders vs Chiefs, Week 16
The first of three games in the National Football League on Christmas Day features the Las Vegas Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs. This is the second game this season between these two AFC West teams. The first time they played, the Kansas City Chiefs won in Las Vegas by a final score of 31-17, back on November 26th.
The Las Vegas Raiders are out of the playoff race, with their 6-8 record. The Raiders though are coming off a win over the Chargers, which sparked the firing of head coach Brandon Staley. The Raiders are third in the AFC West.
For Kansas City, they lead the AFC West with their 9-5 record. In fact, a win in this one would clinch no worse than a tie for the divisional title. Kansas City is coming off a win on the road at New England last week. Heading into this game, the Patriots are the third seed in the AFC playoff picture.
Kansas City is -10 over Las Vegas in this one.

Chiefs Looking to Lock Spot Up
It has been an interesting season for the Kansas City Chiefs. The defending Super Bowl Champions are on the verge of heading back to the postseason, but it looks likely they will have to play a game or maybe two on the road in the postseason. Kansas City has two of their five losses on the road this season. The Chiefs lost in Denver and also Minnesota.
Patrick Mahomes is not putting up MVP type numbers, but we are spoiled by his career, and see his 3,703 passing yards and 25 touchdowns as just an average thing. Mahomes has had issues with his receivers catching the football. His main go to guy has been Travis Kelce, who is 76 yards shy of 1,000 on the season. Kelce has five touchdown catches this season as well.
Isaiah Pacheco is questionable for this game. The top running back for Kansas City missed last week, which gave Jerrick McKinnon more opportunities. Pacheco is 221 yards shy of 1,000 on the season.
Jacobs and Adams for Vegas
When talking about the Las Vegas Raiders it’s Josh Jacobs and Devante Adams. Jacobs, who won the rushing title a season ago has had a down season. Despite being down, and missing time, Jacobs could still reach 1,000 if he can pick up 195 over his final three games. FIrst, he will have to play – as he is questionable for this game.
Adams is the top receiving threat, and will reach 1,000 yards. Adams needs just 32. He also needs 16 receptions for 100, and has five touchdowns on the season. Jakobi Meyers is second for the Raiders, with 648 yards receiving.
Las Vegas will look to finish strong, and with three more wins in a row would finish above .500. The Raiders are at the Colts next week, and then host the Denver Broncos in Week 18.
Chiefs Top Raiders on Christmas Night
The Kansas City Chiefs are back home, and will take on Aidan O’Connell. Josh Jacobs is questionable for this game, which hurts the Raiders big time. This is not the Chargers defense, which is what O’Connell torched last week. The Chiefs defense is actually one of the best in the league. Do not be surprised if we see much of what we saw in the first meeting.
The Chiefs score and get ahead, and stay ahead, and use their good defense to secure the win. We are going with the same score as last time, and taking the Kansas City Chiefs 31-17 over the Las Vegas Raiders. Bet the Chiefs -10 over the Raiders on Christmas Night!

Struggles with Receivers in Kansas City
The Kansas City Chiefs are looking for some hands. Some hands to catch the football. Travis Kelce had a huge fumble and a drop late in the game, and Marques Valdes Scantling dropped a touchdown pass that would have put the Chiefs on top late in the game. The Chiefs have had a problem with their receiving core all season.
Outside of Kelce, Patrick Mahomes cannot find a consistent target. Kelce leads the team with 641 yards and five touchdowns. Rashee Rice is next with 420 yards and four touchdowns, while Justin Watson, who scored on Monday against the Eagles has 19 receptions and 329 yards on the season.
Mahomes has thrown for over 2,600 yards and 19 touchdowns. The signal caller has 9 interceptions on the season. He also is the second leader rushing for the Chiefs. Mahomes is four yards shy of 300 on the season. Isaiah Pacheco leads the Kansas City run game. He has 143 carries for 614 yards and three touchdowns.
Defense has Been Big Plus for Chiefs
The Chiefs defense is statistically one the best in all of the National Football League. They are allowing just 16.4 points per game. Chris Jones has 75 sacks, while George Karlaftis has 7 on the season. Kansas City has a team total of 36 sacks on the year. Kansas City has one defensive touchdown on the season. That was safety Bryan Cook returning a fumble for a touchdown.
What’s next for Chiefs?
Kansas City is playing back to back road games. After this, they will go to Green Bay to take on the Packers, before coming home to host the Bills.
New Look in Vegas
Gone is Josh McDaniels as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. It is Antonio Pearce, and the start has gone more refreshing. Despite the loss on Sunday, the Raiders have looked coherent as a football team. The Raiders beat the Giants 30-6, and then the Jets.
Also in for the Raiders is Aidan O’Connell, the new signal caller for the offense. O’Connell has not been great, with six interceptions and three touchdowns, but seemingly has helped the offense move more than previous with Jimmy Garoppolo. Davante Adams is still the guy in the Raiders offense. He has 741 yards receiving on the season.
Josh Jacobs is another guy putting together a solid season. The running back has 661 yards and five touchdowns. Jacobs was the rushing leader in the NFL a season ago for the Raiders. Las Vegas has also seen big things from Jakobi Meyers this season. He has over 512 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 2023.
Crosby Elite Defender
Maxx Crosby is an elite defender for the Las Vegas Raiders. He will be getting after Mahomes early and often in this game. Crosby has 10.5 sacks on the season, and has a fumble recovery. He is the leader of the Raiders defense. Another leader is Robert Spillane, the linebacker, who leads the team with three interceptions on the season. The Raiders have 10 interceptions on the season, with one returned for a touchdown. The Raiders have forced 4 fumbles, in which they have recovered.
Raiders Schedule Going Forward
Las Vegas will host the Chiefs in this game, and then welcome the Vikings next week, and then the Chargers on Thanksgiving Games after that. This is a big stretch of games, as they also go to Kansas City on Christmas Day.
Fun Game in Vegas
The Kansas City Chiefs have not been overly impressive, despite having their 7-3 season. Even some of their wins have been pretty sloppy, and mostly messy. The Las Vegas Raiders are a team that needs to win a game they should not and maybe find themselves with a chance to make the playoffs.
It may be crazy to think Aiden O’Connell will beat Patrick Mahomes, but we are going to take the home underdog here. The Raiders not only cover the +9 point spread, but also on the +340 moneyline. We are taking the Raiders, while Kansas City still searches for their stride as the season continues along. This should be a fun game, and we hope it is competitive from start to finish. Typically AFC West games are competitive, and we want this one to be no different. Best of luck with all your Week 12 betting and enjoy the games. Also, Happy Thanksgiving!
