Why Michigan Will Cover the Spread in the NCAAF National Championship

Michigan’s Defense is the Best in the Nation

Alabama’s offense had caught fire towards the end of the regular season. The Crimson Tide scored 42 agaisnt LSU, 49 against Kentucky, and 66 versus Chattanooga.

Then against rival Auburn, Bama scored 27 and repeated the 27 versus Georgia in the SEC Championship. However, versus Michigan, the best Jalen Milroe and his mates could do is score 20.

Michigan can shut down the run with their front four, which means the Wolverines will be able to help on Washington’s trio of wide receivers, including doubling Romeo Odunze.

The Wolverines Are Dialed In

No team started the season as focused, and remained focused throughout the season, as the Michigan Wolverines. Jim Harbaugh didn’t coach half of Michigan’s games, including the all-important final regular season matchup versus Ohio State, and the Wolverines still went undefeated.

Michigan played the same way, dominant defense and smart offense, in every game during the season. The Wolverines were as solid as it gets. Not only that, but with Harbaugh serving the suspensions, the coaching staff stepped it up as well as the players.

This May Be Coach Jim Harbaugh’s Swan Song

Rumor is Jim Harbaugh is going to head back to the NFL. Harbaugh had enormous success at the pro level leading the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl where the Niners lost to Jim’s brother John and the Baltimore Ravens.

Now that Harbaugh has the Michigan program back on track, there’s nothing more for him to prove at the college level. Harbaugh’s players will want to reward their head coach with a National Championship.

J.J. McCarthy and Blake Corum will have Their Way with Washington’s Defense

Washington’s defense forced two Texas turnovers in the red zone to beat the Longhorns. If not for the turnovers, Texas likely would have won the game.

Blake Corum doesn’t turn the ball over. Not only that, but Corum is going to feast on a Washington defense that gave up 180 rushing yards and a 6.4 per carry average to the Longhorns.

Quinn Ewers threw for over 300 yards against Washington’s D. McCarthy could have more success than that if the Wolverines open the playbook. Michigan’s offense has a big edge over the Huskies’ Swiss Cheese defense.
