Millonarios vs Fluminense

Colombian side Millonarios took an early lead in the first leg behind a goal from diminutive midfielder Eduardo Sosa. It was a surprise start to the match, although the Colombian side wasn’t able to make the seventh-minute goal hold up.

Fluminense was able to level things before halftime and got the winner from Germán Cano in the 77th minute. Millonarios didn’t make things any easier on themselves by going down a man in that match.

Needless to say, Fluminense is in the driver’s seat after the comeback victory on the road. The pressure is all on Millonarios to get a win on the road if they hope to advance.

Plaza Colonia vs The Strongest

The Strongest didn’t have much of a chance in the first leg, as the only Bolivian side left in the competition struggled during its trip to Uruguay. Plaza Colonia struck in the 19th minute thanks to Canadian-born forward Juan Cruz Mascia.

A red card in the 33rd minute then put The Strongest down a man, making things even more difficult and opening the door for Mascia to score again in the 39th minute. From there, Plaza Colonia cruised to a 2-0 win, owning over 60% of the possession.

The only silver lining is that The Strongest will be at home for the second leg. However, a two-goal win is required to stay alive and have any chance to advance to the next round. The Bolivian side is also a huge underdog, even at home.

The Strongest will begin the match with a moneyline of +560, while Plaza Colonia is listed at -238 as the road team. A draw is set at +305 and would be a moral victory for the Bolivian team, although it would take a huge collapse from Plaza Colonia not to reach the quarterfinals.

Everton vs Monagas

The first leg of this match was all Everton, which dominated at home in a 3-0 win. Forward Lucas Di Yorio scored twice, while 35-year-old Victor Ismael Sosa also scored for the Chilean side. That has Everton sitting pretty heading into the second leg.

The catch is that Monagas may not be done just yet. The Venezuelan side will play the second leg at home and is only a slight underdog at +173 compared to Everton’s moneyline of +132.

Monagas has some firepower after winning its domestic opener 3-1. However, turning the tables and winning by at least three goals won’t be easy.
