Betting 76th Primetime Emmy Awards

The 76th Emmy Awards take place on Sunday, Sep 15.

We’re concentrating on the top acting and series awards in comedy and drama.

Check out a list of nominees, analysis, and predictions along with Emmy Award odds for actress and actor in comedy and drama, top comedy and top drama series, and the best limited series of the past year.

Writer’s Picks for the Next Emmy Awards

76th Primetime Emmy Awards Odds to Win

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy

  • Jean Smart (Hacks) +150
  • Ayo Edebiri (The Bear) +210
  • Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary) +350
  • Kristin Wiig (Palm Royale) +400
  • Maya Rudolph (Loot) +600
  • Selena Gomez (Only Murders In The Building) +900

The odds suggest a tight race.

Truly, though, it comes down to three thespians: Jean Smart in Hacks, Ayo Edebiri in The Bear and Quinta Brunson in Abbott Elementary.

The Bear is getting the most buzz, which is why Edebiri offers overlay odds at +210.

For sure, Smart and Brunson have chances to win the Emmy.

But The Bear is the best thing in Comedy since, well, forever according to some critics.

Edebiri scores the Emmy.

Emmy Pick: Ayo Edebiri – The Bear

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy

  • Jeremy Allen White (The Bear) -160
  • Martin Short (Only Murders In The Building) +400
  • Steve Martin (Only Murders In The Building) +400
  • Larry David (Curb Your Enthusiasm) +600
  • D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai (Reservation Dogs) +900
  • Matt Berry (What We Do in the Shadows) +1000

Jeremy Allen White is a slam dunk.

He’s so much of a slam dunk that at -160, White offers overlay odds.

For starters, Martin Short and Steve Martin split the vote like they do every year.

Larry David is a viable underdog since it’s Curb’s final season.

But even the nostalgic vote won’t be enough to overtake White in The Bear.

Emmy Pick: Jeremy Allen White – The Bear

76th Primetime Emmy Awards Odds to Win

Outstanding Lead Actor for a Drama

  • Hiroyuki Sanada (Shōgun) +175
  • Gary Oldman (Slow Horses) +250
  • Dominic West (The Crown) +350
  • Donald Glover (Mr.

    & Mrs.

    Smith) +500

  • Walton Goggins (Fallout) +600
  • Idris Elba (Hijack) +1000

Donald Glover, Walton Goggins, and Idris Elba are all deserving.

But all three of those fantastic thespians are up against an unbeatable trio in Dominic West, Gary Oldman, and Hiroyuki Sanada.

Oldman is always a contender.

Everything in The Crown, including West, is also a contender.

Hiroyuki Sanada scores the win, though.

Shogun has produced incredible buzz and for good reason.

It’s a sweeping, magnificent epic of a show.

It’s got everything and Sanada keeps it all on track as the lead.

That’s tough to do in an ensemble like cast in one of the most ambitious shows of all time.

Emmy Pick: Hiroyuki Sanada – Shogun

Outstanding Lead Actress for a Drama

  • Anna Sawai (Shōgun) +110
  • Jennifer Anniston (The Morning Show) +220
  • Imelda Staunton (The Crown) +300
  • Reese Witherspoon (The Morning Show) +600
  • Maya Erskine (Mr.

    & Mrs.

    Smith) +700

  • Carrie Coon (The Gilded Age) +900

Maya Erskine deserves to win some kind of awards.

Her brilliance is on full display along with Donald Glover in Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

But Erskine, like Staunton, Witherspoon, and Anniston, don’t have much chance versus Anna Sawai.

Like Hiroyuki Sanada, Sawai must hold together a massive production that could easily fall off the rails.

Think Amazon’s Lord of the Rings show, which never comes close to the Shogun but also includes talented actors and actresses.

Without Sawai, Shogun wouldn’t work.

Emmy voters know this, which is why she takes home the statue.

Emmy Pick: Anna Sawai

Outstanding Limited Series

  • Baby Reindeer (Netflix) +105
  • Fargo (FX on Hulu) +300
  • Lessons In Chemistry (AppleTV+) +500
  • True Detective: Night Country (HBO) +500
  • Ripley (Netflix) +650

Ripley should win, but the odds suggest it doesn’t.

Ture Detective: Night Country has a better shot than +500.

Fargo returned to form, but Baby Reindeer is the most unique limited series among the five.

It’s difficult to describe Baby Reindeer unless you’ve seen it.

Let’s just say that it’s a wild stalker series that’s different than any stalker series you’ll ever see.

The chalk wins.

Emmy Pick: Baby Reindeer

Outstanding Comedy Series

  • The Bear (FX on Hulu) +165
  • Hacks (HBO) +250
  • Abbott Elementary (ABC) +350
  • Only Murders In The Building (Hulu) +500
  • Curb Your Enthusiasm (HBO) +700
  • What We Do In The Shadows (FX on Hulu) +1000
  • Reservation Dogs (FX on Hulu) +1400
  • Palm Royale (Apple TV+) +1800

Hacks and Abbott Elementary are perennial contenders.

What’s great about Abbot Elementary is that it’s a classic comedy series that doesn’t pretend to be more than it is.

We need comedy series like Abbott Elementary to never forget that first and foremost, comedy makes us laugh.

But Abbott Elementary and Hacks have no shot against The Bear.

The FX show is the easy winner.

So grab the overlay odds while you can.

Emmy Pick: The Bear

Outstanding Drama Series

  • Shōgun (FX on Hulu) +150
  • The Crown (Netflix) +300
  • The Morning Show (AppleTV+) +500
  • The Gilded Age (HBO) +625
  • Fallout (Prime Video) +800
  • Slow Horses (AppleTV+) +1000
  • Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Prime Video) +1300
  • 3 Body Problem (Netflix) +1600

Does The Crown lose this year?

The Crown has been unbeatable in its seasons.

It usually sweeps the Emmys.

This season Shogun is giving it major competition.

So much competition, in fact, that Shogun offers half the odds that The Crown offers.

This season Shogun is giving it major competition.

So much competition, in fact, that Shogun offers half the odds that The Crown offers.

Shogun is to Hulu what The Crown is to Netflix.

It’s going to put the streamer into the take us seriously category.

The Crown can win, but viewers, and Emmy voters, may be tiring of the royal family while Shogun is the new kid on the block so to speak.

2022 Emmy Nominations Are Out | Entertainment Betting News

Previous Betting News

Emmy nominations are out and like every time it’s had a season HBO’s Succession boasts the most noms.

But Succession faces stiff competition from three Netflix shows to win the top awards.

Squid Game, Stranger Thing’s, and Ozark will provide Succession major competition in the most important categories.

See below for an nominations recap so you can start planning your bets against the Emmy Awards odds.

2022 Emmy Nominations Are Out | Entertainment Betting News

HBO’s Succession is again the top dog

Like alluded to in the introduction, Succession scored the most nominations.

The black comedy-drama about the Roy Family received 25 Emmy nominations.

In addition to the best drama nom, Brian Cox, who plays patriarch Logan Roy, and Jeremy Strong who plays first son Kendall Roy received nominations for best actor in a drama series.

Sarah Snook and J.

Smith-Cameron received nominations for best supporting actress.

Kieran Culkin, Nicholas Braun, and Matthew Macfadyen received noms for best supporting actor.

Strong won last year’s Emmy for best actor.

Jeremy will be tough to beat, but a couple of performances in two Netflix shows could break Strong’s winning streak.

Netflix’s Squid Game becomes the first Korean show to receive a nomination for Best Drama

One of those shows is Squid Game.

The most watched program in Netflix history became the first Korean show to pick up an Emmy nomination for best drama.

No doubt, Squid Game deserves the attention.

The show is fantastic.

Not only did Squid Game get a nomination for best drama, but lead Lee Jung-jai has a shot to break Jeremy Strong and Succession’s best actor winning streak.

Stranger Things picked up plenty of nominations, but none for the excellent performances

The most talk in Hollywood after nominations dropped surrounded Stranger Things, the Duffer Brothers ode to 1980s sci-fi, horror, and adventure movies.

Stranger Things season 4 was fantastic in almost every way, which is why the show picked up plenty of nominations, including one for best drama.

But none of the talent received a nom.

Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven, didn’t get a nomination.

Neither did Sadie Sink, who plays Max Mayfield.

David Harbour didn’t grab a nomination.

Nor did Wynona Rider.

Stranger Things’ fans are still wondering why none of the talent received an acting nod.

Great comedies scored best comedy series nominations, but Ted Lasso and Hacks figure to duke it out

Plenty of terrific comedies grabbed noms for best comedy show, including Curb Your Enthusiasm, which just finished it’s eleventh season.

Curb will be back for a twelfth season, making it one of the longest running comedies in history.

But although Larry David’s show, Abbot Elementary, Barry, The Marvelous Mrs.

Maisel, Only Murders in the Building, and What We Do In the Shadows are fantastic comedies, the winner will come down to Apple TV’s Ted Lasso and HBO Max’s Hacks.

Right now, it’s impossible to know if Ted Lasso or Hacks takes the top prize.

Expect a closer race for sure.

Ozark scored nominations in three of the four acting categories

Jason Bateman scored a nomination for best actor, Laura Linney grabbed a nom for best actress, and Julia Garner for top supporting actress.

Of the three, Garner looks like a lock.

Ozark’s final season was as much Ruth Langmore’s season as it was Marty’s or Wendy’s.

Marty and Wendy are the main characters, yes, but the driving force for almost every important event in Ozark’s final season either happened because of Ruth or involved Ruth.

Ruth’s fingerprints were all over the final scene because she gave the cookie jar full of Wendy’s brother’s ashes to Noah.

Julia Garner will win for sure, but Jason Bateman and Laura Linney should also win.

Bateman will have a tougher time stepping to the microphone.

The competition is fierce in the best actor in a drama category.

Linney is almost a lock.

But Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer both scored nods for Killing Eve and, as always, both were fantastic.

2021 Emmy Awards Betting Recap: Ted Lasso and The Crown Dominate

Previous Betting News

On Sunday night, the streamers dominated.

Netflix, Apple+ and HBO Max put to bed the idea that streamers couldn’t win the most Emmy awards.

Streaming companies took the top awards in almost every major category.

Two shows, Ted Lasso and The Crown, swept the comedy categories and drama categories respectively.

The Queen’s Gambit grabbed the limited series categories.

Read about how the streaming companies booted traditional broadcast shows in our 2021 Emmy Awards Betting recap.

Entertainment Betting News – 2021 Emmy Awards Review

2021 Emmy Awards

Hacks can’t overtake Ted Lasso

Last week, we published a blog where we believed enough buzz had built around HBO Max’s show about a canceled comedy writer working for a Las Vegas performer that Hacks had a shot to beat Lasso and win best comedy.

We were wrong.

Ted Lasso dominated in every major category except for the one that showed a Hack’s favorite.

Jean Smart took the award for best actress in a comedy.

At one point, Smart was a -800 chalk.

Not only that, but Lasso is a show about a soccer team, which means the main characters are mostly male.

Jason Sudekis, Hannah Waddingham, and Brett Goldstein all won awards.

Waddingham and Goldstein took home statues for supporting actress and actor.

Sudekis won for best actor in a comedy.

The Crown blasts their competition in the drama categories

The Crown entered the 2021 Emmys boasting some of the chalkiest numbers in entertainment betting history.

The Netflix drama about Queen Elizabeth II and her current reign didn’t disappoint.

Chalk bettors were high-fiving themselves for the profit they won on -1000 bets all night.

The Crown even won the lone big underdog winner, Olivia Coleman at +1000 to win best actress in a drama.

Coleman, who plays Elizabeth II, took home the statue.

Unlike Lasso, The Crown could find it difficult to win best drama next season.

More competition may end up costing The Crown the award for top drama.

Still, it appears Emmy voters remain set on awarding traditional dramas because none of the edgy shows, like FX’s Pose or HBO Max’s Lovecraft Country, dented The Crown’s armor.

WandaVision can’t stand up to The Queen’s Gambit

Buzz had built so much around WandaVision that we thought the Disney+ show about two lesser known Marvel characters might steal The Queen’s Gambit’s thunder.

But Netflix’s terrific show won the award for limited series.

However, Ann Taylor-Joy didn’t win best actress, falling to Kate Winslet for Mare of Eastown.

Ewan McGregor won for Halston, beating out favored Paul Bettany who played Vision in WandaVision.

Winslet’s and McGregor’s victories, along with The Crown sweeping the major drama category hardware, shows that, yeah, Emmy voters are willing to nominate edgier shows.

But they aren’t always willing to vote for them to win.

Whether that’s good or bad depends on your personal taste.

In any case, we can soon look forward to entertainment odds on the Oscars and Grammys.

Previous Betting News

After nominations, discussion, analysis, and free picks the final awards show of 2021 finally takes place on Saturday, Sep.

19 when the best in television head to Hollywood for the 2021 Emmy Awards.

Ted Lasso continues to offer chalk odds to sweep the comedy categories while The Crown is the team to beat for the drama awards.

Check out final betting advice for this Saturday’s Emmy Awards so you can be ready to bet against the Emmy Awards odds.

Final Betting Advice for the 2021 Emmy Awards

2021 Emmy Awards

Ted Lasso still the chalk but buzz building for Hacks

Ted Lasso continues to offer favorite odds and probably should sweep, but buzz has built for the Jean Smart HBO Max show Hacks.

The buzz didn’t just come about the past couple of weeks.

For a month or more, eyes have turned from Lasso to the HBO Show.

One of the reasons? Hacks is about a millennial comedy writer living in Los Angeles who gets cancelled after a viral tweet.

The only job she can get is to write jokes for an old Vegas entertainer played by Smart.

Emmy voters love these kind of stories.

So don’t look past Hack pulling off the upset victory for best comedy.

Pick and choose when to beat The Crown

The Crown looks impossible to beat.

So we really want to pick and choose which categories go after the Netflix show.

One of the problems in the drama category is that the other nominees face major biases.

The Boys, although great, may be too violent for some Emmy voters.

Bridgerton might have too much sex.

The Handmaid’s Tale is too dire.

Lovecraft Country got the axe after a season.

Some voters might think of the Mandalorian as a kid’s show while many voters may not have seen Pose.

This Is Us is a traditional network show and voters may think it’s not cool enough.

The Crown should win Best Drama.

So if you look to beat the chalk, pick your spots.

Don’t be surprised if WandaVision beats The Queen’s Gambit in the limited series categories

Don’t get us wrong, The Queen’s Gambit is a brilliant limited series.

The Netflix show is as good as anything we saw in 2020.

But we also think WandaVision is brilliant and the Disney+ show has something going for it that The Queen’s Gambit doesn’t.

WandaVision isn’t a limited series in the traditional sense.

It’s riding the Marvel Cinematic Universe coattails, which means the characters will show up in future series.

Not only that, but it released later in the year while The Queen’s Gambit came out in early 2020.

Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen are fantastic as Vision and Wanda Maximoff.

Also, the show is as creative as anything you’re likely to see.

The Queen’s Gambit remains the chalk, but it’s not as big of a favorite as it was before the past couple of months.

WandaVision has a shot to pull off the upset win.

Odds Breakdown for the 2021 Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress Drama Series Emmy Award

2021 Emmy Awards

Best Supporting Actor Drama Series

Michael K.

Williams deserves the award, and we’d stand up and cheer if he wins it, but HBO Max didn’t renew Lovecraft Country even though it was one of the best reviewed shows in 2020.

Still, Williams is worth a look if you don’t mind the somewhat underlay odds.

We’re going with Giancarlo Esposito, Gus Fring in both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.

In The Mandalorian, Esposito creates one of the most awesome bad guys in the Star Wars universe.

His character, Moff Gideon, is an on the ground Emperor Palpatine.

Esposito is the top play.

Our second pick is veteran John Lithgow.

The Handmaid’s Tale nominees should split the vote.

Chris Sullivan is great in This is Us, but the show doesn’t have the cool factor like Perry Mason.

Lithgow is a fan and Emmy voter favorite.

He could pull off the upset.

Top Emmy Pick: Giancarlo Esposito

Top Second Emmy Pick: John Lithgow

Best Supporting Actress Drama Series

Anderson, who plays Margaret Thatcher in Netflix’s flagship show, The Crown, is a lock.

Going against her makes no sense.

So, we’re not going to even try.

If you want to score a winner, back Anderson, and start congratulating yourself before they open envelope.

But although Anderson will win, we’re putting a few buck on Emerald Fennell to pull off the upset.

Fennell, who plays Camilla Parker Bowles, Charles’ girlfriend, does an excellent job.

She also offers overlay odds compared to everyone else on this list.

Again, Anderson wins.

But if you’re going to try and beat Fox Mulder’s former partner, why not back the longest shot on the board?

Top Emmy Pick: Gillian Anderson

Top Second Emmy Pick: Emerald Fennell

Emmy Awards for Best Actor & Actress Comedy Series Odds Analysis

Previous Betting News

Last week, we analyzed and made choices for the best actor and best actress Emmy Awards in the drama category.

This week, it’s all about talent performances in the top comedy series.

Which actor, if any, can upset Ted Lasso star Jason Sudekis? Is Jean Smart a lock to win the best actress nod for Hackers? Check out top picks and best second picks to win the Emmy for best actor and best actress in a comedy series.

Let’s get right to it so you can continue planning your bets against the Emmy Awards odds.

Odds Breakdown for the 2021 Best Actor and Best Actress Comedy Series Emmy Award

2021 Emmy Awards

Best Lead Actor Comedy Series

It’s going to be close to impossible to beat Jason Sudekis.

He’s been a great actor for years and everyone, we mean everyone, loves Ted Lasso.

Sudekis will win.

It’s not even close.

But even though Sudekis is a lock, it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t take a stab on a second pick.

Michael Douglas is always a threat.

However, The Kominsky Method is sort of an old school show that a lot of people haven’t seen.

Same goes for William H.

Macy.

Shameless has been around for a long time.

Macy is always great, it doesn’t matter the role.

Actors like Douglas and Macy get nominated a lot.

They don’t always win.

Our second pick, then, comes down to Anthony Anderson in Black-ish or Kenan Thompson in Kenan.

Anderson always has a shot.

But Kenan is a unique show.

Thompson is great as a single dad who has employed the help of his father-in-law to take care of his two daughters.

Thompson deserves more recognition for his performance.

He’s our second-choice.

Top Emmy Pick: Jason Sudekis

Top Second Emmy Pick: Kenan Thompson

Best Lead Actress Comedy Series

Smart looks unbeatable.

Hacks is a great show and the former Sex in the City star is awesome as an over the hill Vegas act who hires a millennial to write jokes for her.

But even though Smart probably will win, Kelly Cuoco is the top choice.

Cuoco shot to stardom in the Big Bang Theory.

The Flight Attendant is a comedy / drama that allows Cuoco to run the gamut of emotions.

She plays a functioning alcoholic who finds herself embroiled in a mystery after waking up in a Bangkok hotel next to her one night stand’s lifeless and bloodied body.

One of the best shows of the year, The Flight Attendant wouldn’t work in the hands of a less talented actress.

Cuoco is literally in every scene.

Tracee Ellis Ross is always an award threat.

Like Anthony Anderson, she’s brilliant in Black-ish.

But Ross isn’t our second choice.

Aidy Bryant is.

Bryant is terrific as the main character in Shrill, a show, according to IMDB, about a woman who tries to find ways of changing her life without changing her body.

Like Cuoco, Bryant is almost in every scene.

Like The Flight Attendant, the writing is sharp.

Aidy Bryant creates an unforgettable character and one that’s rare in television, making her the second choice to grab the Emmy.

Top Emmy Pick: Kelly Cuoco

Top Second Emmy Pick: Aidy Bryant

Who will win the Emmys for best actor and best actress? As you might expect a couple of thespians on The Crown, Netflix’s show about Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, Diana and the rest, are favorites to win in the drama category.

But are Josh O’Conner and Emma Corrin locks to take home the statues? Check out more info on the contenders for best lead actor and best lead actress as well as top picks and secondary picks along with their Emmy Awards odds.

Odds Analysis for the 2021 Best Actor and Best Actress Drama Series Emmy Award

2021 Emmy Awards

Best Lead Actor Drama Series

O’Connor plays Prince Charles.

He will be tough to beat because he does a fantastic job, but for our money, Rege-Jean Page is the play.

The star of Bridgerton won’t be back for the second season, which means if Emmy voters hope to reward Rege-Jean, they’ve got to do it this year.

He’s excellent in the fun period piece drama, making him our top pick.

Matthew Rhys is our second-choice.

Rhys plays Perry Mason in the updated version of the famous show from the sixties.

Rhys is good in everything and should have won multiple Emmys for playing Philip in The Americans.

He’s a threat every year.

Top Emmy Pick: Rege-Jean Page

Top Second Emmy Pick: Matthew Rhys

Best Lead Actress Drama Series

Based on the odds, Emma Corrin is a lock.

We’d love to go against the actress who plays Princess Diana.

But that’s tough because unlike Josh O’Conner, many hasn’t landed on any of Corrin’s rivals.

Sometimes it makes sense to follow the money.

Other times, it makes sense to go the opposite direction of the money.

When it comes to Corrin, we’re following the money.

The Crown actress is our top pick.

Which actress can upset Corrin? MJ Rodriguez, Elizabeth Moss, Olivia Coleman, and Uzo Aduba are all worthy contenders.

All four actresses have a shot to pull off the upset.

Our thinking, though, is that Jurnee Smollett has the best chance of beating Corrin.

Although Smollett is the longest shot on the board, she’s got a real chance to pull off a shocker.

Her chances are much better than +2000.

Smollett plays one of the main characters in Lovecraft Country.

The HBO Max show is one of 2020’s most nominated.

But even though Lovecraft Country is a hit with critics, and has a lot of fans, HBO decided to pull the plug after a single season.

Jurnee Smollett is a fantastic actress.

Like what might happen with Rege-Jean Page, Emmy voters may want to give Smollett a statue while they can.

Voters can reward Corrin next year.

This year, they may hand it to the biggest underdog actress in the drama category.

Top Emmy Pick: Emma Corrin

Top Second Emmy Pick: Jurnee Smollett

When it comes to the drama awards, the 2021 Emmy’s are all about The Crown.

When it comes to the comedy categories, this year’s Emmy’s are all about the Apple+ TV show Ted Lasso.

Are the odds on Ted Lasso to win best comedy fair or unfair? How about the odds on the other contenders? Check out a 2021 Emmy Award for Best Comedy deep dive so you can get ready to bet against their Emmy Awards odds.

Odds Analysis for the 2021 Best Comedy Emmy Award

2021 Emmy Awards

2021 Emmy Awards: Best Comedy Category

Does Ted Lasso’s odds make the Apple+ show an overlay or underlay to win Best Comedy?

Ted Lasso is your classic fish out of water story.

The Apple+ television hit tells the story of Lasso, played by Jason Sudeikis, an American football coach who ends up the HC of a struggling soccer club based in London.

The club Lasso takes over plays in the fictional version of the English Premier League.

Everyone who has seen the show believe it’s the best comedy on the planet.

But the odds are way underlaid.

Upsets have happened at the Emmy’s, which is why even though Lasso should win, we can’t back the Sudeikis vehicle at the current odds.

Assess Hacks’ chances of winning the Emmy for Best Comedy series

The odds imply Hacks has no shot of beating Ted Lasso.

Before writing off the HBO Max show, it’s important to note that Jean Smart of Sex In the City fame headlines.

Smart plays an older Vegas performer.

Hannah Einbinder plays the 25-year-old, entitled, comedian from Los Angeles who takes a job writing Smart’s jokes.

The chemistry between the two is brilliant while, no doubt, more Emmy voters have seen Hacks than have seen Ted Lasso.

Give Hacks a better than +700 shot to upset Lasso and take the award.

Among The Flight Attendant, The Kominsky Method, and Pen15, which show can score Emmy gold?

Pen15 should win because season two was just as brilliant as season one.

It won’t, though.

Pen15 is too high-concept, turning off Emmy voters who just don’t get it.

The Kominsky Method won’t win, either.

The Flight Attendant has a puncher’s chance.

Kaley Cuoco show is both funny and sad.

It’s also a murder mystery which means it checks off every box in the comedy/drama/suspense genre.

That’s tough for any show to pull off.

The Flight Attendant does it in every episode.

What show presents overlay odds? Black-ish, Cobra Kai, or Emily in Paris?

Black-ish is always worthy of the Emmy.

Nobody watched Emily in Paris.

Everyone watched Cobra Kai.

Of the three, Cobra Kai has the best chance of scoring the Emmy.

The show brought back Johnny Lawrence, Danny LaRusso, and the 1980s feel that’s missing from so many other sophisticated comedies.

So if you’re looking back a +2000 dog, back Cobra Kai to pull the crane kick on the competition.

The 2021 Emmy Award nominations are out.

Right now, things are looking rosy for The Crown.

The Netflix show about Queen Elizabeth II is a massive favorite to score the Emmy for Best Drama.

If past Emmy’s have shown us anything, though, the chalk doesn’t always cross the finish line first.

Check out an Emmy Awards odds analysis for this year’s Best Drama Emmy contenders.

Odds Analysis for the 2021 Best Drama Emmy Award

2021 Emmy Awards

2021 Emmy Awards: Best Drama Category

Does The Crown’s odds make the Netflix show an overlay or underlay to win Best Drama?

Netflix’s show about Harry’s grandma secured the most Emmy noms, 24, and should be the front runner to win all 24.

For some reason, Emmy voters love the good old days when Charles and Camilla had to meet in the shadows and Her Majesty got to bump heads with good old Margaret Thatcher.

But the odds to win the Best Drama Emmy doesn’t justify a bet.

If Succession, HBO’s brilliant show that took the globe holding angel last year hadn’t postponed their 2020 season, the Brian Cox vehicle would be the hands down chalk.

Ozark, another Netflix show, also postponed their 2020 season.

Like Succession, Ozark would have grabbed plenty of Emmy noms.

So it feels like The Crown is the -1000 no can lose choice because neither Succession nor Ozark is in the game this year, which makes the favorite shaky.

Does The Handmaid’s Tale have any shot of winning the award?

The Handmaid’s Tale most definitely has a chance, but sort of like The Crown, it’s not a fun show.

Does being fun matter? In 2021, it might.

Afterall, the U.S.

is in the midst the Delta variant surge, Congress failed to pass legislation that could lead to around a million renters receiving eviction notices, and Bumbling Joe has no idea how to handle the border crisis.

Emmy voters are living in a version of The Handmaid’s Tale.

Why give the show version an award?

Among Bridgerton, Pose, The Boys, and The Mandalorian, which show can score Emmy gold?

The Boys, although awesome, doesn’t have a chance.

It’s too over the top.

Too fantastically nonsensical and too much fun.

Pose, Bridgerton, and The Mandalorian all have a shot.

We’re going with The Mandalorian.

Not because it’s a better show, but because there was almost no politics in it, it was the most fun show of the year, and because it comes from Disney.

Netflix rearranged Hollywood.

It changed the way we watch movies and television shows and it forced old Hollywood, which wasn’t all that old, to change.

Although Emmy voters say they love Netflix, let’s be honest.

A lot of them hate Netflix for how they reimagined the studio system.

The Netflix backlash could continue, which means The Mandalorian stands a strong chance to pull off the upset.

What show presents overlay odds? This is Us or Lovecraft Country?

HBO canceled Lovecraft Country, which means it won’t win the award.

No Emmy nominated show has ever won Best Drama in it’s first and only season.

If HBO had reupped Lovecraft Country for an other season, who knows? Maybe, it would have taken the hardware.

But because the excellent show got the cut, it has no shot.

This is Us has a better shot to win than Lovecraft Country.

It also offers overlay odds.

This is Us should offer odds on par with The Mandalorian and The Boys.

This is Us has a lot going for it.

It’s about family.

It’s a nice show.

People love it, and it hails from a traditional network, NBC.

Emmy voters could say, forget these streamers and let’s go with one the show from one of the historical Big 3 television networks.

If that happens, This is Us takes home the statue.

With all that in mind, let’s get right to our Entertainment betting news update so you can start planning your bets against their Emmy Awards odds.

2021 Emmy Award Odds Rundown

2021 Emmy Awards

Based on the odds, which drama and which comedy should sweep the Emmy’s?

No doubt, The Crown, Netflix’s drama about Queen Elizabeth II, the current Monarch of Great Britain, should sweep this year’s drama categories.

In 2020, The Crown added Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher.

Anderson is -2000 to win Best Supporting Actress Emmy.

Both Emma Corrin, who plays Princess Diana, and Oliva Coleman, who plays Queen Elizabeth II, are nominated for Best Actress.

Coleman offers +1000 odds.

Corrin is the chalk at -600.

Josh O’Connor is the -150 chalk to win Best Actor in a drama series while The Crown is -1000 to win Best Drama.

Apple TV’s Ted Lasso could sweep the comedy awards.

Lasso is a television show about a football coach who becomes the HC of a London soccer club in England’s top flight footy league.

Jason Sudekis, who plays Ted Lasso, is -2000 to win Best Lead Actor Comedy Series.

The series is at -1200 to win the Emmy.

What possible underdog plays exist in the comedy categories?

The Jean Smart vehicle Hacks could surprise in the comedy categories.

Smart is a -800 favorite to win Best Lead Actress Comedy Series.

Hacks is second choice at +700 to upset Ted Lasso and win for Best Comedy.

The +1000 odds on The Flight Attendant means the Kelly Cuoco show has an outside chance.

Cuoco is at +400, second choice, to upset Smart.

A major longshot possibility is the incredibly well-written Pen15.

Creators Anna Konkle and Maya Erskine play themselves in middle school.

Pen15 has a massive fan base, which could translate to a huge upset at +1500.

Cobra Kai is at +2000.

During 2020, no show provided more heartfelt moments than the continuing saga of Johnny and Danny from the Karate Kid movies in the 1980s.

So if nostalgia wins out, Cobra Kai could also take the top prize.

What possible underdog plays exist in the drama categories?

Based on the odds, The Crown is a lock to win Best Drama.

But before dumping on the Netflix show, check out the odds on The Handmaid’s Tale, +600, and Bridgerton, +1200.

Don’t discount Bridgerton.

Last year, it was Netflix’s top watched program.

Not only that, but Shonda Rhimes, who created Scandal and produced How to Get Away With Murder, is behind the period piece.

Billy Porter, nominated for Pose, is second-choice to win Best Actor Drama.

But if you want to beat O’Connor, consider Rege-Jean Page in Bridgerton.

The star of the show, Page won’t appear in subsequent seasons.

Emmy voters may want to award Page when they can.

MJ Rodriguez in Pose and Elisabeth Moss in The Handmaid’s Tale could upset Emma Corrin in The Crown.

It depends on how Emmy voters are feeling about the Royal Family once they lay down their votes.

Entertainment Betting News – 2020 Emmys & The Mandalorian

Previous Betting News

The Emmys happened on Sunday, Sep. 20.

Wouldn’t you know it? It went the way the odds predicted it would go.

That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t do a recap.

After reading the Emmy recap, make sure to check out picks for The Mandalorian Season 2, which starts on October 30, 2020.

Let’s jump right into action so you can bet on their Entertainment odds.

Chalk Dominates at the Emmys & The Mandalorian Season 2 Picks

Schitt’s Creek and Succession dominate the Emmy Awards

We had a feeling the chalk was going to muzzle the dogs at the 2020 Emmy Awards.

But we didn’t think that the comedy favorite, Schitt’s Creek, and the drama favorite, Succession, would so thoroughly destroy the competition.

Schitt’s Creek didn’t just win Emmys.

The fish out of water show broke a record.

No comedy had ever won as many Emmys as Schitt’s Creek did this year.

The Marvelous Mrs.

Maisel took home eight total awards in its first couple of seasons.

Schitt’s Creek won seven major comedy awards and two creative awards.

That’s nine Emmys in total.

Succession won seven total awards.

Two of the seven statues came in major categories: Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series – Jeremy Strong and Outstanding Drama Series.

Strong’s victory is interesting.

The actor that plays Kendall Roy on the show was a huge underdog to Brian Cox, another actor on Succession.

Cox was a -425 choice in late July and early August.

But as the weeks passed, Strong closed the gap.

By the time the Emmy’s happened, Jeremy was a +115 second choice to Cox’s -125 odds.

The next big awards show happens in February when the richest of the rich, movie stars, directors, and film producers, walk the red carpet for the Academy Awards.

Our hope is that they’ll walk the red carpet without a coronavirus cloud hanging over their heads.

Mando is back on Oct.

30

The most highly anticipated show of 2019 returns to Disney+ for it’s second season on Oct.

30.

The Mandalorian, a story that exists in the world of Star Wars about Baby Yoda and a homeless bounty hunter that’s the same race as Boba Fett, scored huge fans and critics on debut last year.

Season 2 promises to be as exciting and interesting as Season 1.

Check out the four betting options on MyBookie.

The Mandalorian Season 2

Season 2 Episode 1 Average on Rotten Tomatoes

The Mandalorian is a massive success of a show.

It’s so popular that it got an Emmy Nomination for best drama.

Yes, a PG show about Star Wars characters got nominated for the Primetime Emmy Awards highest dramatic honor.

The average on Rotten Tomatoes is 93% average audience score.

That’s higher than the 91.5%.

We’re jumping on the overlay odds!

The Mandalorian Pick: Over 91.5%

Baby Yoda Says ‘May the Force Be With You’ in Season 2

Well, let’s see.

Baby Yoda can gurgle a few sounds, stumble around, eat things, and raise objects with his mind.

So, he’s talented for sure.

But, he was 50-years-old in Season 1 and unless they go 200 more years in the future, no way he says “force” much less puts together an entire sentence.

The Mandalorian Pick: No

Sasha Banks Character Die in Season 2

If Sasha Banks plays Sabine Wren, a character in Star Wars who leads her race, the Mandalorians, to free themselves from the Galactic Empire, which is what the rumor mill says, then, no, she won’t die.

Chalk it is.

The Mandalorian Pick: No

Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) Makes an Appearance

It’s a nice idea, but Luke would have to be digitally recreated.

Have you seen Mark Hamill lately? The Mandalorian takes place about ten years after the empire falls, which means Luke is hanging out on that island in the Last Jedi contemplating whether to destroy Kylo Ren’s life or not.

The Mandalorian Pick: No

Final 2020 Emmy Award Odds & Picks

2020 Emmy Awards General Info

It’s difficult to look past the two favorites, Schitt’s Creek and The Marvelous Mrs.

Maisel.

Like most awards, they tend to go to shows in their final season.

Hence, the -300 odds on Schitt’s.

The Good Place had its final season in 2020 as well, though.

The show that starred Ted Danson and Kristen Bell of Veronica Mars fame was one of the most creative, well, ever.

Although Schitt’s Creek figures to win, we’re taking a shot on the show about the craziest and sweetest after-life ever to spring from the mind of a human being.

Succession and Ozark are two of the best dramas on television.

But the best drama on television in 2020 was Better Call Saul.

The preamble to Breaking Bad gave us an inside look into how one of the most unique characters in history, James Morgan McGill, aka The Lawyer, aka Kevin Costner, aka Slippin’ Jimmy, aka Saul Goodman proved that it takes skill and a lot of lying to yourself to become a badass lawyer instead of just a bad lawyer.

2020 Emmy Pick: Better Caul Saul

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series

Let’s be honest, Eugene Levy deserves to win for anything he’s ever nominated for.

He’ll win on Sunday, no doubt.

We’re taking a shot on Anthony Anderson, though.

Anderson has garnered a nomination every year since 2015 for his portrayal of Andre “Dre” Johnson in black-ish.

It’s time to give him the award.

2020 Emmy Pick: Anthony Anderson

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series

The early money was on Brian Cox in Succession and Jason Bateman in Ozark.

All the late money has gone to Jeremy Strong, the other actor nominated for Succession.

Cox could win, but Strong is in a great position.

He got a Television Critics Award nomination.

Cox didn’t.

Back Strong.

2020 Emmy Pick: Jeremy Strong

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series

This is Moira Rose’s to lose.

The chalk, Catherine O’Hara, is brilliant in everything just like co-star Eugene Levy.

2020 was the final time we got to see O’Hara in new Schitt’s Creek episodes.

On Sunday night, make sure to heat up the enchiLaaDaas and watch Catherine take home the award.

2020 Emmy Pick: Catherine O’Hara

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series

Laura Linney is a lock.

She’s been great in Ozark since the show started.

Season 3 saw Linney’s character, Wendy Byrde, get close to the head of the cartel, open a casino, and pretty much take charge.

She’s no longer just Marty’s wife and has become his co-CEO in the Byrde’s budding criminal organization.

2020 Emmy Pick: Laura Linney

Entertainment Betting – Next James Bond & Emmys Update

Next James Bond Odds

Any one of these guys would make for a great 007.

All five are excellent actors.

Norton or Heughan look like locks, but what’s different about those guys?

Hiddleston is too well known as Loki to probably get the call.

Does Hardy want to play Bond? Doubtful.

He’s more of a Blofeld type, which means we should consider pulling the trigger on Idris.

The man is as good of an actor as there is on this planet.

Next James Bond Pick: Idris Elba +1000

2020 Emmy Odds Update

Outstanding Comedy Series

Emmy Winner: Schitt’s Creek -140

Should be Emmy Winner: The Good Place +1000

Schitt’s Creek is a really good show.

Of the comedies nominated, though, none had the heart, perspective, and downright positivity of The Good Place.

It was also a hilarious show that departed from the norms American audiences expect from a broadcast television network sitcom.

Outstanding Drama Series

Emmy Winner: Ozark +350

Should be Emmy Winner: Stranger Things +2800

We like Ozark for sure.

So, if it beats Succession, another great show, we’ll clap as long as anybody.

But the show that really deserves the award is Stranger Things.

Can you think of another show that has gotten people more excited to sit in front of the tube in the past 20 years? We can’t either.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series

Emmy Winner: Eugene Levy -300

Should be Emmy Winner: Ramy Yousef +400

Eugene Levy is a master.

He deserves as many awards and as much praise as people want to give him.

But Ramy Yousef’s television version of himself is unlike any character that you’ve seen on television.

Ramy provides a well-rounded human being who is unbelievably flawed and who deserves both our derision and our sympathy.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series

Emmy Winner: Jason Bateman +150

Should be Emmy Winner: Jason Bateman +150

In Marty, Jason Bateman has created the most ruthless passive-aggressive sociopath in the history of television.

That really sums it up.

No other explanation required.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series

Emmy Winner: Catherine O’Hara -750

Should be Emmy Winner: Catherine O’Hara -750

Any time they nominate Catherine O’Hara, for anything, she deserves the award.

That’s how awesome she is.

As Maura Rose, she’s created an entirely new way to pronounce words like “enchilada”.

In our opinion, that makes her a lock.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series

Emmy Winner: Laura Linney -175

Should be Emmy Winner: Laura Linney -175

The Byrdes are two of the steeliest criminal television characters in history because, well, they live next door.

People never run into the Sopranos.

But according to Ozark, we run into the Byrdes all the time.

Linney’s performance of Wendy, like Bateman and Marty, deserves an Emmy Award.

We feel for Wendy.

She also scares the pants off us.

How many thespians can pull that off?
