The English Premier League, Bundesliga, and French Ligue 1 kicked off last week, which means the top soccer players in the world are playing competitive matches again. But although the best players are with their club teams, their minds are on November’s World Cup. Check out a World Cup rankings blog for Group A. Let’s get right to it so you can keep planning your bets against the FIFA World Cup Odds.
2022 FIFA World Cup Group A Rankings | Soccer Betting Preview
2022 Qatar World Cup
- When: Nov. 21 – Dec. 18
1. Netherlands
No nation has been on the cusp of a World Cup victory without closing the deal like the Orange. The Netherlands finished third at the 2014 World Cup, fourth at the 1998 World Cup, and were runner up at both he 1974 and 1978 tournaments.
This season, the Netherlands boast an incredible team. The Dutch are loaded with players like Frenkie de Jong, Memphis Depay, and Virgil Van Djik. The Netherlands should roll to the knockout stage.
2. Senegal
Senegal is much more than Sadio Mane. For sure, Mane is their best player, but the Senegalese boast top UEFA club talent across the board.
Villareal forward Boulaye Dia, Strasbourg forward Habib Diallo, Leicester midfielder Nampalys Mendy, and Crystal Palace midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate will ensure the Senegalese support Mane in his quest for goals.
On defense, Paris Saint-Germain defender Abdou Diallo is one of the world’s best. Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly is also a top player.
Senegal should have no trouble making it to the Round of 16. If Mane can get his mates to play together, who knows? Senegal might be the team to pull off a World Cup shocker. The squad is that deep and that good.
3. Ecuador
Ecuador is a solid team. You don’t make it to the World Cup from CONCACAF where Uruguay, Brazil, and Argentina play unless you’re a good soccer nation.
Ecuador beat out Colombia for the CONCACAF’s fourth ticket to the WC. That’s no small feat. But although Ecuador is a good soccer team, they landed in a a group with a couple of serious players.
Senegal should be one of the most surprising teams at the 2022 Qatar World Cup. The Senegalese boast talent at every level. The African Nation can not only make it to the Round of 16 but also make it to the quarterfinals and, maybe, the semifinals.
The Netherlands will field their most talented team since the Arjen Robben days. The Dutch can win the World Cup, no doubt about it. So Ecuador must settle for third.
4. Qatar
The home team has zero shot of making it into the knockout stage. Qatar has some decent players, but this is the World Cup.
Also, because Qatar is in Group A, like Ecuador, the host nation must play against a team that can win the World Cup, the Netherlands, and one of the best underdog nation’s at the 2022 tournament, Senegal.
Qatar will play hard and they will give their home nation fans a thrill. But there’s almost zero scenario where Qatar upsets Ecuador, Senegal, or the Netherlands and marches to the knockout stage.
I have read enough, I need to place my bet now. What to do?
