Two nations with real chances of winning the 2022 Qatar World Cup tournament landed in the same group. France and Denmark both have enough talent to win this year’s tournament. The French head to Qatar the third choice after rival England and top chalk Brazil to win the WC. Denmark is a +2800 pick to break into the World Cup winners club. Which team is the better bet to win Group D? Also does dark horse Australia or miracle Tunisia have any shot? Check out Group D FIFA World Cup Odds and analysis.

2022 Qatar World Cup
- When: Nov. 20 – Dec. 18
Favorite: France -250
As long as players like Karim Benzema, Paul Pogba, and Kylian Mbappe step onto the pitch, France will be difficult to beat.
Playing for Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid last season, Benzema became one of the top strikers in the world. He led Real to both a La Liga and a Champions League title.
The superstar won’t have to do much on France’s squad because Kylian Mbappe will be the primary striker. What it means is that Benzema could play a facilitator role, which isn’t a bad thing.
Pogba will help ensure France’s defense plays at a high-level. There are plenty of reasons to like the French to win Group D. But although France should be the chalk, and most likely will win their group, Denmark might be the better play.
Second Chalk: Denmark +300
There’s a reason oddsmakers and World Cup future bettors have made the Danes the top underdog to win the World Cup. In terms of odds to win, Denmark landed right after Brazil, France, England, Germany, and the other every four year contenders like the Netherlands and Spain.
The Danish are at +2800, which means lines makers and soccer handicappers feel the Danes have a better chance of winning the World Cup than past winner Uruguay and 2018 runner up Croatia.
Based on their roster, it’s difficult to argue that Denmark isn’t the top underdog on the board. The Danes boast one of the great midfielders on the planet in Christian Eriksen. Andreas Christensen is a defenseman for Barcelona and Martin Braithwaite is a Barca forward.
The Danes start a top UEFA league player at every level, including goalie Kasper Schmeichel who plays for Ligue 1 team Nice. At the +300 odds, Denmark is the best play to win Group D.
Dark Horse: Australia +1000
The odds make Australia Group D’s dark horse. But we shouldn’t read too much into the odds. The Aussies’ only shot of making it to the knockout stage is for France and Denmark to underperform.
One of the group’s top two teams might play bad soccer. Both won’t. But even if the French and the Danes aren’t at the top of their games, both teams are better than Australia. The +1000 odds make Australia an underlay.
Miracle: Tunisia +1400
At +1400, Tunisia is the biggest underlay in the group. The Tunisians played great soccer to qualify.
We shouldn’t expect the Tunisians to do more than possibly score a goal in their match against Australian. Denmark and France should both beat Tunisia by at least 2 goals if not more scores. Expect much higher odds before backing Tunisia to win their group.
I have read enough, I need to place my bet now. What to do?
