Belgium, one of the top ranked soccer nations in the world, landed in Group F. But although Belgium is the chalk to win the group, they aren’t a lock. Croatia, the 2018 runner-up, will also play in Group F. So will tough Serbia and strong Cameroon. Will Belgium lock down the group victory? Or will Croatia, Serbia, or Cameroon get it done? See below for FIFA World Cup Odds and analysis of the four nations that make up Group F.
2022 FIFA World Cup Group F Predictions, Favorites, and More | Soccer Betting Preview
2022 Qatar World Cup
- When: Nov. 20 – Dec. 18
Favorite: Belgium -190
No doubt, Belgium can win the World Cup. The players from the Belgium squad that got oh so close to World Cup glory in 2018 remains.
Kevin De Bruyne, Eden Hazard, Jan Vertonghen, Thorgan Hazard, and Romelu Lukaku continue to serve as key parts of the national team.
But De Bruyne, Eden Hazard, and Vertonghen are north of 30 years old. Lukaku and Thorgan Hazard are both 29. The window may have closed for this incredibly talented team.
Second Choice: Croatia +248
At the 2018 World Cup, Croatia surprised everyone by upsetting England in the semifinals and marching to the finals versus France. The Croatians couldn’t hang with France.
But the reason had more to do with the fact Croatia had fought an intense battle with England more than the fact the French were the overall better team. The 2022 Qatar World Cup Croatian side doesn’t boast as much talent as the 2018 squad.
The issue with the 2022 team is that Luka Modric is 36. It’s impossible for Modric to be as effective in Qatar as he was in 2018. But just because Croatia probably won’t make it to the semifinals this year, it doesn’t mean they can’t upset Belgium and win Group F.
Josip Stanic is a 22-year-old defender for Bayern Munich, Marcelo Brozovic is a 29-year-old forward for Atalanta, and Mateo Kovacic is a 28-year-old midfielder for Chelsea. Those three players will ensure Croatia hangs with Belgium. At the odds, the Croatians are the best play to win Group F.
Dark Horse: Serbia +550
Based on their odds, Serbia is a legit contender to win the group. The Serbs boast plenty of UEFA League talent.
Forward Alexander Mitrovic plays for Fulham. Fellow forward Luka Jovic plays for Fiorentina and Filip Kostic is a Juventus midfielder.
If you like the Serbs to upset Belgium and Croatia and win Group F, we won’t talk you off them. In addition, 5-to-1 are decent enough odds to dip the toe into the water.
Miracle: Cameroon +1200
33-year-old Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting continues to call Bayern his club team. Choupo-Moting leads an underrated Cameroon squad that boasts enough UEFA League talent to provide a scare to Belgium, Croatia, and Serbia.
Don’t get us wrong. Cameroon shouldn’t win Group F.
However, if you wish to back a miracle with a shot, the African nation has a much better chance of winning their group than a team like Tunisia, Qatar, or Saudi Arabia has of winning theirs. So back Choupo-Moting and his mates if you believe Cameroon moves to the knockout stage by winning Group F.
