2022 Qatar World Cup- When: Nov. 20 – Dec. 18
World Cup Group G Odds
Favorite: Brazil
There’s a reason Brazil is the chalk to win the tournament. The Brazilians boast enough to talent to field a couple of WC contending teams.
The forward room is breathtakingly deep. Rodrygo, Roberto Firmino, Neymar, Raphinha, Gabriel Jesus, and Vinicius Junior would start on most UEFA league clubs.
Allison starts for Liverpool in goal. Ederson starts for Man City in goal. Led by Liverpool player Fabinho, the midfield is ridiculous.
It’s going to be tough for any team to beat Brazil for the trophy, much less upset them in the group stage. Brazil looks like a lock to win Group G.
Upset: Switzerland
Switzerland is more of an upset play to beat Brazil and win Group G than Serbia. The Swiss boast talented players, including 30 year old midfielder Granit Xhaka, who plays for Arsenal, but Serbia is the deeper squad.
With that being written, if Brazil doesn’t play as well as everyone expects, and the Serbs don’t show up, Switzerland will win Group G over Cameroon. The Swiss have a decent defense and Xhaka has 106 caps while fellow mid Xherdan Shaqiri has 108.
Dark Horse: Serbia
One of the most exciting young strikers in the world plays for Serbia. Dusan Vlahovic, Juventus’ 22 year old forward, has the makings of a top five striker.
Vlahovic should have an excellent World Cup because joining him up front will be Aleksandar Mitrovic, a Fulham player, and Fiorentina forward Luka Jovic.
Ajax midfielder Dusan Tadic will serve as Serbia’s captain. Juve mid Filip Kostic and Vlahovic will be on the same page in every match. The defenders are strong.
Serbia shouldn’t beat Brazil. But if the Brazilians falter in any way, the Serbs will be there to take the group.
Predicted Winner: Brazil | Predicted Second Place: Serbia
It’s impossible to go against Brazil. No team at the 2022 Qatar World Cup is as deep or talented as South America’s top chance at WC glory.
Brazil boasts multiple star players at every level. When it comes to goalkeeping, no other nation comes close to Ederson and Allison. Also, Tite has made all the right moves leading up to this WC cycle, which means Brazil shouldn’t falter in any game during the tournament.
If Brazil does falter, Serbia will be there to pick up the pieces. The Serbs don’t have as much overall talent as Brazil, but many of Serbia’s players can hang with Brazil’s best.
Kostic, Vlahovic, Mitrovic, and Jovic are as talented as Fabinho, Neymar, Richarlisson, and Raphinha. So if Brazil has a single hiccup, Serbia will be there to grab the group’s top spot.
