FIFA World Cup Betting Odds: Which +1200 Choice Is the Best to Win the WC

2022 Qatar World Cup

  • When: Nov. 21 – Dec. 18

Belgium

As long as Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne step onto the pitch for Belgium, the Belgians will have a shot to win the World Cup.

FIFA ranks Belgium the second best team in the world, ahead of France, Argentina, and England. Brazil ranks first, which means Belgium is in good company.

Netherlands

Captain Virgil Van Dijk spearheads an incredibly talented Netherlands squad. Van Dijk is the best defender on what should be one of the best defensive teams at the World Cup.

Juventus player Matthijs de Ligt, Man City defender Nathan Ake, and Inter Milan star Stefan de Vrij will be very difficult to get past.

When the Netherlands is on the attack, we should expect excellent play from Barcelona players Memphis Depay and Frenkie de Jong. The Netherlands has a decent attack and an excellent defense.

Portugal

If you believe Portugal is Christiano Ronaldo and bunch of other dudes, you’re mistaken. Ronaldo remains the most important player on Portugal’s squad, yes, but the team is loaded with talent.

Bruno Fernandes is one of the most talented midfielders in the Premier League. The Man United player can push forward in a striking position, play defense, or control possession.

Man City forward Bernardo Silva takes pressure off Ronaldo. So does Diogo Jota, the Liverpool forward. Portugal brings a top UEFA league player to almost every position.

Final Analysis: Which +1200 choice has the best chance of winning the World Cup

At first glance, it looks as if nobody will beat Belgium. The Belgians remain one of the most feared international soccer teams in the world.

But De Bruyne and Lukaku have gone to the World Cup before and failed. Why should we believe the Belgians finally win this year’s World Cup when both of their star players are four years older?

Portugal is a strong club. But Ronaldo is 37 and although Jota and Silva will help Ronaldo score goals, the fullbacks aren’t nearly as strong as they will have to be in the knockout stage.

So if we decide Portugal and Belgium aren’t worth backing at +1200, we’re left with the Netherlands. Are the Dutch worth taking a shot on at their odds?

No doubt, yes. The Netherlands should easily beat Ecuador, Senegal, and Qatar in Group A. Once in the Round of 16, the Dutch will excel because they’re one of the few teams that leans on their defense.

There won’t be a better starting three on the back end in the World Cup than Djik, Ake, and Vrij. Then if those guys tire or aren’t effective or if Louis Van Gaal wants to mix it up, Daily Blind, Denzel Dumfries, and Bruno Martins Indi will be available.

When it comes to scoring goals, Depay and de Jong are ready to take the next step. Both are on the cusp of being elite. If they become elite during the Qatar World Cup, the Dutch, who have finished runner up three times, will finally break through.

Best +1200 Pick: Netherlands
