Christian Ericksen suffered a heart attack in the fist match at EURO 2020. Ericksen is okay, but there’s no way he’s as dominant at this year’s World Cup as he has been in the past.

Without a doubt, Ericksen is Denmark’s best player. So without him, the Danes could struggle. 

Final Analysis – Will Denmark move to the knockout stage?

Yes, Denmark could step onto the pitches at Qatar and flub. But the Danes are a solid group. Even if Ericksen isn’t at his best, Denmark should find a way to get past Tunisia and the team that draws in after the IC Playoff.

The team that draws into Group D will be Australia, UAE, or Peru. Denmark should have no trouble beating any of the three. 

If Denmark concentrates on playing France to a draw, or losing by just a goal, they will have an easy path to the knockout stage. The Danes won’t beat the French and win the group, but they will finish second and move to the knockout stage.
