Series History
The Hoosiers hold a 97-80 advantage in the series that dates back to Jan. 19, 1910. Three Hoosiers scored in double figures to lead Indiana to a 63-45 victory on Jan. 14, 2023, at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in the lone matchup between the two schools a season ago. The Hoosiers will attempt to secure the program’s first victory in the Kohl Center since a 69-59 result on Jan. 25, 1998, the second men’s game ever played in the arena. Indiana has not beaten a ranked Wisconsin team on the road in 12 tries.
Why Bet on Indiana Hoosiers?
Well, the Hoosiers (12-6, 4-3 Big Ten) really can’t play any worse than they did Tuesday in getting blown out at home by arch-rival and No. 2 Purdue, 87-66. The game was over at halftime with the Boilers up 22. The Hoosiers were 1-for-2 from the line in the first 20 minutes and finished 4-for-9. The Boilers were 14-for-16 and finished 22-for-29.

“We got smacked in the first half,” IU coach Mike Woodson said. “They set the tone. We came out with good intentions, and then we couldn’t make shots. That was a big difference. They made shots and got to the free throw line.”
The win snapped a two-game losing streak to the Hoosiers and was Purdue’s first in Assembly Hall since 2021. The 21-point victory was Purdue’s largest in the series since the 2002-03 season and the largest in Bloomington since a 47-13 (34 points) win in 1934 – a span of 90 years.
Trey Galloway led IU with 17 points, five assists and four rebounds. Forward Mackenzie Mgbako had 15 points, and might have had more if foul trouble hadn’t sidelined him for much of the first half. Woodson said he should have played Mgbako more. Mgbako has made a team-high 24 3-pointers this season, including 16 over his past seven games. During the seven-game stretch he is shooting 16-of-33 (48.5%) from behind the arc and averaging 12.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.
Galloway has posted 42 total assists (6.0 per game) over his last seven contests dating back to the end of non-conference play. He has posted a 3.5 assist-to-turnover ratio during the month-long stretch and has more steals (14) than turnovers (12).
Forward Malik Reneau is averaging a team-best 15.8 points per game to go along with 6.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 0.8 blocks in 29 minutes per game. He is shooting 57.3% (114-of-199) from the floor, 40.0% (12-of-30) from the 3-point line, and 62.5% (45-of-72) from the free throw line.
Center Kel’el Ware, a transfer from Oregon, has upped his scoring (from 6.6 points to 14.2), rebounds (4.1 to 9.4), assists (0.5 to 1.8), and field goal percentage (45.7% to 54.8%) in his second season. He leads the Hoosiers in rebounds and blocks in 31 minutes per game. Ware has scored at least 10 points in 14 games this year after producing just eight such games as a rookie. The 7-footer has ripped down at least 10 boards seven times this season, including a career-high 17 at Rutgers (Jan. 9). Since the turn of the new year, Ware is averaging 10.7 rebounds per game in conference play.
Indiana averages 37.7 points per game in the paint and shoots 52.9% (388-of-734) from inside the arc. The Hoosiers hold opponents to 27.8 points per night in the key. IU gets to the charity stripe 23.0 times per game, the 38th most among all Division I programs and the third-highest figure in the Big Ten.
Why Bet on Wisconsin Badgers?
No team will go unbeaten in Big Ten play this season as No. 11 Wisconsin (13-4, 5-1 Big Ten) was upset at Penn State on Tuesday, 87-83, to see a six-game overall winning streak snapped. Penn State led for over 36 minutes, The Nittany Lions converted 53.3 percent of their shots from the floor, including a 40 percent clip from downtown. Wisconsin cut the advantage to three points with 1:42 left, before Kanye Clary scored three-straight to give the Lions a six-point cushion with 0:37 on the clock and that sealed it.

The Badgers hadn’t lost a game since Dec. 9 when UW fell at then-#1 Arizona. Penn State became the fourth team this season to shoot better than 50% overall against Wisconsin. PSU averaged 1.026 points in the opening half (39 points on 38 possessions) and improved to 1.263 points per possession in the second half (48 points on 38 possessions).
“We’ve got a ways to go,” Coach Greg Gard said of his team’s defense. “I’ve thought that all year. We are not where we need to be and can be and should be. We hadn’t been exposed in a while.”
AJ Storr scored 23 points and Steven Crowl added a 17-point, 11-rebound double-double for UW, which turned the ball over 13 times, including eight in the first half alone. Wisconsin has scored 70 or more points in 11 consecutive games, the team’s longest such streak since a 13-game run in the 1970-71 season. That team set the program scoring record averaging 86.3 points per game.
Wisconsin leads the Big Ten this season in free throw percentage, shooting 271-for-352 (77.0%) from the charity stripe. The Badgers are averaging 75.6 ppg, which would be the team’s highest scoring mark since averaging 77.9 ppg in the 1993-94 season. They are averaging 20.7 free throw attempts per game, which is an increase of 6.4 more per game from a year ago (14.3 FTAs per game in 2022-23).
Individually, two Badgers rank top 10 in the Big Ten in free throw percentage. Storr ranks 5th in the league making 50-of-59 (84.7% FT), while John Blackwell ranks eighth having converted 50-of-60 (83.3% FT) at the line.
Max Klesmit has elevated his game offensively the last three games, averaging 17.3 points per game shooting 66.7 percent from the floor, including 9-for-13 from beyond the arc. Storr leads the Badgers scoring 15.3 points per game this season. In Big Ten play, he’s averaging 17 ppg (ranks 10th in the Big Ten). He’s scored double figures in 15 of 17 games (12 straight).
Greg Gard is 10-3 in his career against Indiana and 6-0 at the Kohl Center. The Badgers have won 19 consecutive home games against Indiana, matching the longest-ever home win streak vs. the Hoosiers.
