As we head into Week 11 of the NFL season, we have several divisions that are incredibly tight and home to some fantastic races. One of those is the AFC East, where all 4 teams are still very much in the playoff conversation. Perhaps the biggest surprise in that division right now is that the Buffalo Bills are down in 3rd, although you could argue that the Jets sitting on 6 wins through their opening 9 games could also be high on the surprise scale. The divisional games in the East are going to be crucial as we head down the stretch, but this one is especially so for the Patriots, as they are currently down in the cellar, albeit well within reach of the top spot. They need a win here, though, or their race to win the division may become futile. The Patriots have home field advantage for this one and the bookies have them in as a 3-point favorite, with the point total set at 38. It’s time to have a closer look at the upcoming match between Jets and Patriots, so you can bet against their NFL Betting Lines.

Why bet on the New York Jets
If there was any doubt about the Jets very much being a divisional contender this season, I think that went out the window with a 20-17 win over the Buffalo Bills in their last outing. The only real disappointment is that the win was followed with a bye week, which may serve to kill that momentum. Still, the Jets come into this one with revenge in mind, as they lost 22-17 to the Patriots at home just a few short weeks ago. It’s not just that loss for the Jets, though, as that defeat means that they are now on a 13-game losing skid at the hands of New England. It’s not all doom and gloom here, at least not form a betting perspective, as the Jets have been a fantastic pick against the spread, covering in 6 of their last 7 games away from home. The Jets have seen the UNDER hit in 4 of their last 5 overall.
Why bet on the New England Patriots
It may be too early to deem this as a must win game for the Patriots, as they would still be at .500 and in the playoff mix even if they lost to the Jets. You certainly have to like their chances given that they have won 11 in a row versus the Jets in Foxboro, but this is a very different Jets team this season, so perhaps that particular stat should not be a huge factor. The Patriots have been a little inconsistent this season, but with back-to-back wins ahead of this one, there may be some signs that they are coming to life and about to go on a run. Week 11 has been kind to them, as they have gone 6-1 SU in the last 7. They have been a good ATS bet, too, covering in 5 of their last 6 overall. At home, the Patriots have seen 8 of their last 10 go OVER the point total.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
I am more than a little tempted to play the Jets straight up here, but their record against the Patriots makes me more than a little nervous. I am going to hedge my bets and take them to cover, whilst also going with the OVER.

Series History
Last season, the Patriots extended their winning streak to 10 straight victories over the Jets after earning their 21st series sweep and their fifth straight. The Patriots overcame a 27-17 deficit to win 30-27 at the Jets on Nov. 9, then closed out the year with a 28-14 win at Gillette Stadium on Jan. 3.
Why Bet on New England?
The Pats were upset in Week 1, 17-16 at home by the Miami Dolphins. First-round rookie QB Mac Jones completed 28-of-39 passes for 281 yards and a touchdown. It was a solid debut for Jones against an elite defense, as he counteracted the Dolphins’ pressure by getting the ball out quickly. His 133 passing yards in the first half would have been a season high for the Patriots in a first half in 2020. Jones was 6-of-8 off play-action, including his first career touchdown — a 7-yard strike to wide receiver Nelson Agholor in the second quarter. He was also 9-of-13 with a touchdown when under duress from Miami’s defensive pressure.
Damien Harris rushed 23 times for 100 yards in the Patriots’ Week 1 loss, also losing a fumble with 3:18 remaining. He also added two receptions for 17 additional yards. Harris dominated the Patriots’ backfield, soaking up 23-of-30 carries, but his cough up at the Dolphins’ 11-yard line was the difference in the game. He was fighting for extra yardage in too crowded of a pile.
Coach Bill Belichick could reduce Harris’ role this week because of that fumble, but rookie RB Rhamondre Stevenson fumbled too, putting him in the doghouse for much of Week 1. J.J. Taylor — a Week 1 healthy scratch – could take a bigger role this week.
Right tackle Trent Brown logged seven snaps in Week 1 before heading to the sidelines with a calf strain. He’s questionable for this one.
Why Bet on NY Jets?
The Jets lost 19-14 at Carolina last Sunday. Rookie No. 2 overall Zach Wilson showed some promise in his NFL debut but also showed his lack of experience. While he maneuvered well and tossed a pair of touchdown passes, he was also sacked six times and threw a pick as well. Wilson completed 20 of 37 passes for 258 yards and a pair of touchdowns, both to Corey Davis.Wilson’s first half couldn’t have gone worse. He was 0-for-4 on third down, 0-for-4 against the blitz, 0-for-7 under duress, 0-for-4 on play-action and 0-for-3 on deep passes. Wilson played much better in the second half but wasn’t accurate enough overall (54.1%), and his six sacks highlight the speed of the NFL game to which he must adjust.
The Jets got some bad news as left tackle Mekhi Becton will be sidelined a minimum of four to six weeks with a dislocated right knee cap. Without Becton, the Jets will move George Fant to left tackle, his natural position. Morgan Moses, who started the season on the bench after losing out to Fant in the right-tackle competition, will become the starter on the right side.
In addition, free safety Lamarcus Joyner (torn triceps) will miss the remainder of the season. Rookie middle linebacker Jamien Sherwood (sprained ankle) will be sidelined two weeks. Punter Braden Mann (sprained knee) will miss a minimum of four to six weeks. To replace Mann, the Jets signed Thomas Morstead. He set career lows in yards per punt (43.1) and longest punt (58) last year with New Orleans.
On the bright side, top wideout Jamison Crowder should play this week after missing the opener in the COVID protocols.
The last regular-season game at MetLife Stadium with fans in the stands was on Dec. 22, 2019 when the Jets beat the Steelers, 16-0. Sunday will be the first time coach Robert Saleh, the second-year players and the rookies will all play in front of Jets fans in a regular-season game.
When the Patriots’ Mac Jones and the Jets’ Wilson go under center, it’ll mark the earliest in a season since 2015 – when Jameis Winston and the Buccaneers opened the season at home against Marcus Mariota and the Titans – that rookie starting quarterbacks drafted in the first round will meet in a game.
Expert Prediction: Patriots 23, Jets 20

Last Meeting
These clubs met Week 17 last year at New England and the Patriots rolled 38-3 in what would be the last game as Jets coach for Todd Bowles. Tom Brady threw for three first-half touchdowns. Brady completed 24 of 33 passes for 250 yards and four scores overall. Jets QB Sam Darnold completed 16 of 28 passes for 167 yards, but he also had a fumble that gave New England a touchdown.
New England leads the series, 65-54-1 overall. The Patriots are 35-25-1 all-time against the Jets at home, including 1-1 at home in the postseason and 14-3 at Gillette Stadium in the regular season.
Why Bet on NY Jets?
The Jets were utterly useless offensively on Monday night in a 23-3 loss to the Cleveland Browns. New York was without starting quarterback Sam Darnold due to mono – he won’t play here – and then lost backup Trevor Siemian to an ankle injury. And now Siemian is done for the year.
Siemian’s leg bent awkwardly when he was taken to the turf on a late hit by Browns defensive end Myles Garrett. He eventually was able to walk off the field under his own power, but was quickly ruled out for the remainder of the game. He ended up tearing ankle ligaments.
Seeing the first NFL action of his young career, Luke Falk completed 20 of 25 passes for 198 yards in relief duties. Falk will get his first start this Sunday against the New England Patriots. Le’Veon Bell rushed 21 times for 68 yards and caught all 10 of his targets for 61 yards in the loss. Unfortunately, Bell lost a fumble inside the 10-yard line in the fourth quarter while trying to fight for the end zone.
The Jets could bench center Ryan Kalil. They did in Monday’s fiasco vs. the Browns, and coach Adam Gase hinted that will remain the case for the time being. “We’re probably a ways from where he wants to be,” Gase said Tuesday. The Jets lured ex-Panther Kalil out of semi-retirement in August. Jonotthan Harrison is the next man up for Gang Green.
Gase also said that linebacker Jordan Jenkins (calf) and wide receiver Demaryius Thomas (knee/hamstring) are week-to-week, while linebacker C.J. Mosley (groin) remains day-to-day.
Why Bet on New England?
The Patriots blew out the Dolphins 43-0 in Week 2 after defeating Pittsburgh, 33-3, in Week 1. The Patriots, who have a +73 point differential through their first two games, are the fourth team in the Super Bowl era with a +70 point differential through their first two games, joining the 1967 Oakland (+79), 1970 Detroit Lions (+75) and 1975 Washington Redskins (+74).
Additionally, New England became the fourth team in the Super Bowl era to allow three points or fewer through their first two games, joining the 1970 Detroit Lions, 1976 Houston Oilers and 1981 Buffalo Bills.
With a receiving touchdown vs. the Dolphins, Patriots running back James White recorded his 20th career touchdown catch and joined Chuck Foreman (23 receiving touchdowns) and Brian Westbrook (23) as the only running backs with at least 20 touchdown receptions in their first six seasons in NFL history.
New England is 36-16 against the Jets since Robert Kraft purchased the team in 1994. New England’s 65 overall victories over the Jets (including two playoff wins) are the second most over any single opponent, trailing only the 74 all-time wins over Buffalo.
Tom Brady has 27 regular-season wins against the New York Jets as a starter, joining Brett Favre as the only other quarterback with at least 23 wins against two divisional opponents.
The NFL interviewed Britney Taylor, who has accused Pats WR Antonio Brown of sexual assault and rape, for 10 hours on Monday. Not clear if Brown could be suspended this week.

First 2018 Season Meeting
In Week 12, the Patriots beat the Jets 27-13, but it was tied 13-13 late in the third quarter. Tom Brady threw two touchdown passes and became the career leader in total yards passing in regular-season and playoff games. The Patriots quarterback went 20 of 31 for 283 yards. He also reached 3,000 yards passing for the 16th season, tying Peyton Manning for second in NFL history behind Brett Favre’s 18.
Rookie Sony Michel ran for 133 yards and a TD, and the Patriots had 215 yards rushing. With Sam Darnold hurt, veteran Josh McCown started at QB. McCown was 26 of 45 for 276 yards and a touchdown to Jermaine Kearse with one interception for the Jets, who have lost five straight and eight of nine in the series.
Why Bet on NY Jets?
This will be the last game as Jets coach for Todd Bowles – he won’t be back in 2019 guaranteed.
The Jets were 44-38 OT losers last week in Bowles’ final home game. They were outscored 18-3 in the fourth quarter. Aaron Rodgers threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Davante Adams with 6:23 left in overtime; New York never got the ball in OT. Sam Darnold completed 24-of-35 passes for 341 yards and three touchdowns in perhaps his best game. Looking completely comfortable and in sync, Darnold started out hot, completing 12-of-14 passes for 180 yards and a touchdown to start the game. Robby Anderson hauled in 9-of-13 targets for 140 yards and a touchdown. Anderson caught five passes for 84 yards on the first three drives alone, and he capped the final of those marches with a 33-yard score. Both the catches and yards were a career-high for Anderson, and he now has 312 yards and three touchdowns in the last three games.
Tight end Chris Herndon, whose four touchdowns are the most by a rookie tight end in franchise history and are tied for the most among rookie tight ends in the NFL this season, had six receptions in Week 16 action for a season-high 82 yards with a touchdown. Herndon’s 494 receiving yards are second-most among rookie tight ends in the league.
Tailback Elijah McGuire rushed 14 times for 35 yards and a touchdown and hauled in 3-of-5 targets for 50 yards and another score. McGuire, who will play in just his eighth game Sunday, needs just 81 yards and one reception to surpass his rushing total (315) and reception haul (17) from his 16-game rookie campaign.
WR Jermaine Kearse (Achilles) remained sidelined at Thursday’s practice. Kearse is a long shot to play Sunday at New England. With Quincy Enunwa (ankle) in the same boat, Robby Anderson and Chris Herndon should soak up most of the targets. Enunwa has been out since Week 14. He will finish his season with 38 catches for 449 yards and a touchdown in 11 games.
Why Bet on New England?
New England leads the series with the Jets 64-54-1 overall. The Patriots are 34-25-1 all-time against the Jets at home, including 13-3 at Gillette Stadium in the regular season and 1-1 at home in the playoffs. Last year, the Patriots ran away with a 26-6 victory over the Jets in the regular-season finale at Gillette Stadium.
The Pats defeated Buffalo, 24-12, last Sunday and clinched the AFC East division title for the 10th consecutive season. The Patriots have advanced to the postseason in 10 consecutive seasons (2009-18), surpassing Dallas (nine from 1975-1983) and Indianapolis (nine from 2002-2010) for the most consecutive seasons in NFL history with a playoff berth.
With their 10th win of the season, New England (16 seasons from 2003-2018) tied San Francisco (16 from 1983-98) for the most consecutive seasons with at least 10 victories in NFL history. Tom Brady, who has 4,105 passing yards this season, joined Peyton Manning (14 seasons), Drew Brees (12) and Philip Rivers (10) as the only quarterbacks in NFL history with 10 seasons of at least 4,000 passing yards.
The Patriots are the only team in the NFL that is undefeated at home. A win over the Jets will give the Patriots their seventh undefeated season at home. (2003-04, 07, 09-10 and 13).
Also with a victory, the Patriots can secure a first-round playoff bye for the 13th time since 2001, a feat unmatched by any team in the last 18 years. New England can also secure a first-round bye for the ninth consecutive season to extend an NFL record.
Finally, the Pats with a victory would tie their own NFL record for most wins (regular and postseason) in a decade with 126, a record set originally by the 2000- 09 Patriots. The Patriots will do so with one complete season remaining in the decade. It also would mark the franchise’s 500th regular-season victory since it began to play in 1960, the most wins by an AFL franchise.
With two points against the Jets, the Patriots will extend their NFL record to 12 straight seasons with at least 400 total points (2007-18).

Can Fitzpatrick, Surprising Jets Cover NFL Spread on Road vs Brady and Patriots?
Previous Betting News
Ryan Fitzpatrick and the New York Jets will look to extend their winning ways and cover the spread when they hit the road to take on Tom Brady and the undefeated New England Patriots on Sunday.
Now, let’s find out if the Jets have what it takes to cover the NFL spread as near, double-digit road dogs against their longtime AFC East division rivals.
New York Jets at New England
When: 1:00 PM ET, Sunday, October 25, 2015 Where: Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, Massachusetts NFL Odds: New England -9 Over/Under: 48
New England Patriots (5-0 SU, 3-1-1 ATS)
New England remained unbeaten by soundly beating Indianapolis 34-27 in Week 6 despite narrowly failing to cover the spread as an 8.5-point favorite.
Future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady threw for 312 yards and three touchdowns in the win and New England also benefited from the most foolish fake punt I have ever seen.
Now, Brady and the Pats’ top-ranked scoring offense get to host a Jets team they’ve continually struggled to beat over the years and is ranked first in points allowed under defensive-minded head coach Todd Bowles.
“We’ve had a lot of close games with them over the years,” Brady said. “A lot of situational football has come into play, a lot of two-minute drives and stopping them at the end, overtime games. Not too many games have really gotten out of hand.”
Each of the last four meetings against their AFC East division rivals has been decided by three points or less.
N.Y. Jets (4-1 SU,4-1 ATS)
New York enters this Week 7 showdown coming off a resounding 34-20 win over Washington in Week 6. The Jets easily covered the spread as a 7.5-point home favorite by harassing quarterback Kirk Cousins into two interceptions and getting another strong performance from veteran running back Chris Ivory who rushed for 146 of New York’s season-high 221 yards on the ground.
The Jets rank first in rushing (146.0 ypg) and will go up against a New England run defense that is ranked a discouraging 22nd against the run (114.2 ypg).
For his part, Bowles is downplaying the significance of this contest.
“Winning this game is not going to make us,” Bowles said. “Losing this game is not going to break us.”
Game Analysis
I’ll get right to the point by saying that I really like the New York Jets to cover the spread as 9-point road dogs n a contest that I believe could come down to the wire.
The Jets have an elite defense and an underrated offense that is seemingly getting better with veteran running back Chris Ivory running ht better than he ever has and veteran signal-caller Ryan Fitzpatrick playing virtually mistake-free football.
The Jets are 4-0 ATS in their L/4 games against a team with a winning record, a perfect 4-0 ATS in their last four road games and a bankroll-boosting 7-0 ATS in their last seven games against their AFC counterparts.
I know Tom Brady and the Patriots have gone 11-4 ATS in their L/15 games versus a team with a winning record and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall, but the Pays are also 0-4 ATS in their last four meetings against their AFC East division rivals and jus 1-4 ATS in their last five home dates against the J-E-T-S.
With the Underdog in this rivalry posting a perfect 4-0 ATS mark in the last four meetings and the road team going 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings, I say the New York Jets are the easy pick to cover the spread at the very least.
My Pick: Patriots 24 Jets 23
