The clock is winding down on spring training, as we are now just 10 days away from the start of the MLB regular season. By this point, most of us have already chosen which teams we believe will be in the hunt for the World Series, but the team that does win it all may not have an impact on individual awards. We have seen players win the MVP or Cy Young without their team going all the way, so be aware of that when it comes time to make your induvial prop bets. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the current MLB odds for those awards.
MLB Player Props Odds Predictions – MVP and Cy Young Predictions
MVP
American League
It is probably no real surprise to find the last two winners or the AL MVP sitting among the favorites to win it again this season. Dual threat, Shohei Ohtani, who won it in 2021, is in as the favorite at odds of +228. If there is a better all-around player in the MLB right now, I don’t know who it would be. Aaron Judge, who won it last year after hammering 62 home runs is once again in the mx to be the MVP at odds of +490. If he even gets close to his numbers from last season, those odds could prove to be a steal. Mike Trout always has to be considered, especially if he can stay healthy. He is currently sitting at +620.
National League
It might be a surprise to some that Paul Goldschmidt, who won this award last season, is outside the top 3 favorites at odds of +1025. It is Juan Soto who is currently in as the favorite at +530, followed by Mookie Betts at +700. As you can see from these odds, the bookies don’t really seem to have a clear favorite emerging in the NL. A player worth taking a shot on might well be Ronald Acuna, who is in at odds of +860.
Cy Young
American League
It’s not always easy to move to a new team in a new league and make a difference, but the bookies seem to think that Jacob DeGrom will be just fine with the Texas Rangers. He won a pair of Cy Young awards during his time with the Mets in the NL and is favorite to win it in the AL at odds of +550. Gerrit Cole is close behind at odds of +750. If you are looking for an interesting parlay to play, how about taking Ohtani to win the MVP and the AL Cy Young. He is sitting at +1000 in the Cy Young odds.
National League
With DeGrom now plying his trade in the American League, the door is open for another pitcher to walk through. It is Sandy Alcantara, the defending winner, who is in as the favorite at odds of +550. It is a tight battle for favoritism here, though, as you have Corbin Burnes, who won it in 2021 at +600. Justin Verlander won his 3rd Cy Young last season in the AL, but he will now be pitching in the NL. The bookies like him to be in the mix here and have him in at odds of +700.
I have read enough, I need to place my bet now. What to do?
