It is the final week of the NBA regular season, and while we have seen several teams punch their playoff tickets, the final few games will decide who lands where in the overall standings. That is particularly important this season, especially for those teams looking to avoid the play-in tournament. It is only the top 6 in each conference who are guaranteed a playoff spot this year, with seed 7 through 10 having to go through the play-in to try and win their spot. For the teams at the top, it’s all about staying healthy and trying to land the best seeding possible, as that is the way to a championship. Let’s take a closer look at some of the teams that the bookies like to win it all this season along with their NBA Championship odds.
Updated 2021 Championship odds – NBA Betting
Brooklyn Nets +210
The moment that the Nets landed James Harden in a trade with the Houston Rockets in the early part of the season, they became an instant championship contender. There were a lot of people who fancied their chances even before that, but Harden’s immediate impact convinced many more to get on the side of the Nets. They have had some injury concerns coming down the stretch, but the belief is that they will be ready to go once the playoffs begin next week. If they are indeed healthy, then you really have to like their chances of getting out of the East and into the NBA Finals.
LA Lakers +425
With injuries to both Anthony Davis and LeBron James, the Lakers have slid down the standings in the Western Conference, where they are current stuck in among the play-in teams. Despite their second half slump, the bookies still seem convinced that the defending champions can be a legitimate threat in the postseason. Given what we have seen, you have to say that they will need their two star players to be healthy for that to happen. They might yet move up and out of the play-in tournament, but they are still going to have a tough road through the West ahead of them.
LA Clippers +400
The Clippers have been steady all season long and look to most likely be starting the playoffs as the #3 seed. While they have not been particularly spectacular, the one thing that stands out when you look at their stats is that they are tied for the most conference wins in the West. That alone should tell you that they are a legitimate threat to get out of the conference and into the NBA Finals. We all know that there are zero guarantees once the postseason begins, but the Clippers would not be a bad pick.
Milwaukee Bucks +700
Over the last couple of seasons, there has been no team more dominant in the regular season than the Milwaukee Bucks. The downside is that their success in the regular season has not translated to success in the playoffs. This season, the Bucks have not been as good through their first 69 games of the year, but they are still just a game out if 2nd in the East. Perhaps they are going to flip the script this time around and make a deep run in the postseason.
