2016 NBA Playoffs
April 16th marks the beginning of the 2016 NBA playoffs, which means that it is time sit back and take a peek at the 16 teams playing the postseason and review the odds for each team as they get ready to battle for a spot in the next round.
Most of the attention will be on the Golden State Warriors, who set a new NBA record for the most regular season victories in League history (73-9). So with all the hip that surrounds the team these days, it isn’t a surprise to see the Warriors as the heavy NBA betting favorite to win the 2016 NBA Championship, although, the team lead by star Stephen Curry first needs to win four best-of-seven series against other good teams, including the opening round against the Houston Rockets.
Even more, there are 15 other teams playing the postseason, including several franchises with the potential to upset the might Warriors. That list includes the San Antonio Spurs and the Cleveland Cavaliers, who can become the team that stands in the middle of Golden State’s path of becoming back-to-back champions.
Both conferences bring some intriguing match-ups as we have several teams in this year’s playoffs that were not here a year ago. Although, bettors and NBA fans aren’t expecting a particularly lengthy playoffs for teams like the Grizzlies, Mavs, Rockets, Pistons and Hornets. For Memphis, which has been dealing with sensible injuries this season, their chances to win the series is very remote. They entered the postseason without key players such as Mike Conley and Marc Gasol, and facing a team such as the Spurs on this round of the playoffs does not favor their odds to make it to the next round.
The Pistons are in the playoffs for the first time since 2009, but they aren’t expected to survive their first round duel against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks face a similar situation against the OKC Thunder. The Hornets were able to finish the season on a 24-8 run, but extending their momentum against a team such as the Miami Heat won’t be an easy task for Charlotte.
