NBA Power Rankings Betting Update: Suns With a 5 Game Lead in the Western Conference

When you have a long season like we have in the NBA, it’s natural for teams to hit a little bit of a lull around the midway point of the season. You have players playing through injuries and in need of a break, which most will get this weekend during the All-Star festivities. Before we get there, though, there is some regular season business to take care of. As we do every week, though, we will be looking back a little to see how teams arrived at their current standing in the Power Rankings. Let’s take a look at the current top and bottom 5 so you can continue making your bets against the NBA Odds.

NBA Betting: Power Rankings Update for Week 18

Top 5

    1. Phoenix Suns – The Suns are rolling, winning 5 in a row and 9 of their last 10, which has helped them take control of the Western Conference. They now have a 5-game lead at the top and look better than they did last year, when they went all the way to the Finals.
    2. Golden State Warriors – You do have to say that the Warriors are helping the Suns pull away, as they are now on a streak that has seen them lose 3 of their last 5. This is a team that looks as though it needs a break.
    3. Memphis Grizzlies – Bot by bit, the Grizzlies are edging ever closer to the #2 spot in the Western Conference. They have won 5 games in a row and are now just 3 games back of the Warriors. They might be a team to watch in the second half of the season.
  1. Miami Heat – The Eastern Conference has been tight at the top all season long, and so it will stay heading into the break. The Heat are back on top after winning 5 in a row, but it is a slender lead over the Bulls.
  2. Milwaukee Bucks – Given that they are the reigning champions, you have to say that the Bucks have been a little disappointing this season. You never really know what you are going to get from them on any given night.

Bottom 5

  1. Indiana Pacers – While the top 5 remains the same, there are some changes at the bottom, starting with the Pacers sliding into the bottom 5 this week. The Pacers are currently on a 6-game losing streak that shows no signs of slowing down.
  2. Oklahoma City Thunder – While the Thunder remain stuck in the #27 spot in the NBA Power Rankings, they are coming off a win, which means that they are now 4-6 in their last 10 games. Might we see an upward move?
  3. Houston Rockets – Dead last in the Western Conference and beginning to lose touch with the teams ahead of them. The Rockets have now lost 5 in a row and have just 1 win in their last 10 games.
  4. Orlando Magic – After a decent little run of form, the Magic are on the slide again and have lost 3 in a row. They are, though, still staying ahead of the Detroit Pistons.
  5. Detroit Pistons – There is no place else to be than at the bottom of the pack when you have the worst record in the league. The Pistons are on a run that has seen them lose 5 in a row.
