With the NBA All-Star game festivities over and done with, we are now officially at the midway point of the season, which is the perfect time to take a look at what the current championship odds look like. What we see at this point is that the teams who started the season among the favorites are still there, although their odds are not the same as what they were before the opening tip-off. While some have seen their odds shorten, others have cooled off a little in the eyes of the bookies. The odds as they are now will likely change several times between now and the end of the season, but let’s take a closer look at the current favorites so you can keep planning your bets against their NBA Championship odds.
NBA Betting | Odds to Win the 2021 Championship
LA Lakers (+250)
The defending champion LA Lakers started the season as the favorites to win it all once again, and while they are still the favorites, you will see in a moment that another team is creeping up on them. The Lakers ended the first half of the season on a 2-game losing skid and a run that saw them win just 3 of their last 10 games. They played that run of games without the services of Anthony Davis, but he is expected to be back once the second half gets underway. You would expect the Lakers to bounce back into form at that point, but is that what will happen? Will they remain the favorites between now and the end of the season?
Brooklyn Nets (+300)
Starting the season with the one-two punch of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, the Nets were already a legitimate challenger. The addition of James Harden took them to the next level, but they are not done tinkering with their squad. Word is that they have agreed to terms with Blake Griffin, and while he has not been playing at the level we saw when he first came into the league, it is still a fantastic pick-up for a team that looks determined to win a championship at any cost. They have won 9 of their last 10 and are just a half game out of first in the East.
LA Clippers (+500)
This is a team that has championship aspirations but who are seeing their stock falling as the season progresses. A 3-game losing streak prior to the break means that the Clippers are now down in 4th in the Western Conference, and while they have had some injury issues to content with, they should still be better than where they are right now. The conference is even stronger than a lot of people expected, with both the Jazz and the Suns making it clear that they are set to make a run. With that in mind, the Clippers odds might continue to head in the wrong direction.
Utah Jazz (+700)
At the start of the season, the Milwaukee Bucks were up among the favorites, but at the midway point, they are now out of the top 4 favorites. It is the Utah Jazz who are seeing their championship odds shorten, and for very good reason. The Jazz have the best record in basketball and have a 2 ½ game lead at the top of the Western Conference. They had lost 2 in a row prior to the break, but a few days off might be just what they needed.
