For many, Christmas Day is one of the biggest events on the NBA schedule, but the hope this season is that COVID does not get in the way of the big day. We are starting to see games get postponed as the number of players in health and safety protocols continues to grow, but the hope is that the league can get things under control quickly and get as many games played as possible. For now, let’s look back at what happened this past week to see what impact it all had on the NBA Power Rankings. As always, we will take a quick look at the top and bottom 5 teams so you can continue making your bets against the NBA odds.
NBA Betting: Power Rankings Update for Week 10 of 2021 Season
Top 5
- Phoenix Suns – The Suns continued to roll this past week and are now on a run of 3 straight wins and 8 victories in their last 10. They also got Devin Booker back after he missed 7 games through injury. Could they now get even better?
- Golden State Warriors – All the headlines this past week went to Stephen Curry after he beat the 3-point record, but the team also continues to rack up wins, picking up 7 victories in their last 10 games to keep pace with the Suns in the West.
- Brooklyn Nets – If you want to talk about teams negatively impacted by the Omicron variant, then you need to talk about the Nets. Their squad has been decimated, yet they still continue to lead the way in the East, going 7-3 in their last 10.
- Utah Jazz – The Jazz blasted into the top 3 last week after winning 8 in a row, but they took a pair of inexplicable losses to drop back down a spot in this week’s rankings. They are still a solid 21-9 on the season and 3rd in the West.
- Milwaukee Bucks – While missing some key personnel for a variety of reasons, the Bucks have still managed to hold down a place in the top 5. They have, though, lost 2 in a row and are playing .500 ball over the last 10 games.
Bottom 5
- Houston Rockets – It looked for a moment as though the Rockets might be ready to break out of the bottom 5, but they stay in the same spot as last week and are now 5-5 in their last 10 games. Can they climb out this week?
- New Orleans Pelicans – While they continue to wait for Zion Williamson’s foot to heal so that they can get their star player back in the lineup, the Pelicans continue to play decent ball. They have won 2 in a row and 7 of their last 12.
- Oklahoma City Thunder – It seems as though the teams at the bottom of the rankings are starting to show some signs of life, as the Thunder closed out last week with back-to-back wins. They are, though, still dead last in the West.
- Orlando Magic – This is another team that has been hot harder than mist by health issues, yet they did manage to pick up a rare win over the weekend. Still, that puts them at just 2-8 in their last 10 games.
- Detroit Pistons – With the worst record in the NBA, it is no real surprise to once again see the Pistons sitting at the bottom of the Power Rankings.
