There may be only fourteen games on the college basketball schedule for Friday evening, but there is some real value to take advantage of. Here are your best college basketball bets for a thin slate before a huge weekend with NCAA Tournament seeding implications
College Basketball Best Bets for Friday, February 10th
Fresno State Bulldogs at Nevada Wolfpack (-12.5)
When: Friday, February 10th, 2023
Where: Lawlor Events Center, Reno, Nevada
Time: 11:00 PM EST
TV: FS1
Friday’s lack of marquee games gives you an opportunity to watch one of the most underrated teams in the nation in Nevada. Indiana legend Steve Alford is now in his fourth season at the helm for the Wolfpack and heading right towards the tournament with a 19-6 record overall and a 9-3 mark in a Mountain West. In case you haven’t noticed, the MWC is currently competing with the ACC and the Pac-12 for power six consideration, and the Pack are just a half-game out of first place.
The attraction to this game is fairly simple as the Bulldogs are one among the worst teams in the Mountain West against the spread on the road, while Nevada is one of the best ATS at home. Justin Hutson’s club is just 4-6 against the spread on the road this season, although that is far from terrible. Unfortunately, they are underperforming the number by -1.5 points with a margin of victory of -6.6 points per contest.
When you combine those numbers with the fact that the Wolfpack covers at home 80% of the time this season and is outperforming the number by +5.5 points per contest, you should feel very confident about this Nevada team at home, where they have yet to lose a game straight up all season.
The over is looking like a solid wager as well as the Pack hit the over at home nearly 73% of the time, while Fresno State hits the over on the road 60% of the time.

Youngstown State Penguins (ML) at Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons
When: Friday, February 10th, 2023
Where: Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, Fort Wayne, IN
Time: 7:00 PM EST
TV: ESPN+
This selection could be a bit of a stretch as the Penguins are a road dog against the Mastodons, but we are not deterred. Youngstown State is one of the best low-mid major teams in the nation this season out of the Horizon League with a 19-6 overall record with an 11-3 mark in league play.
The Penguins have won nine of their last ten games dating back to New Year’s Eve when they fell to…Purdue Fort Wayne on their own home floor. Defense has been the Achilles heel for Jerrod Calhoun’s team this season, as they rank 272nd in the nation in adjusted defensive efficiency. However, Youngstown State has been middle-of-the-road in league play, ranking fifth in the conference over those 14 games.
This Penguins team starts five seniors this season of which, four of whom scored in double figures every game. They are going to treat this game as a revenge spot against a team that has gone just 4-5 over their last nine and covered in just two of their nine games at home on the season.
