Last year, the teams split with each winning at home. In Albuquerque, New Mexico prevailed 81-79 in overtime. Jamal Mashburn Jr. led New Mexico with 25 points and Morris Udeze scored the game-winning layup with two seconds left. Mashburn is still a key part of this year’s team. Jaelen House was 7 of 15 shooting to add 16 points and he’s still around. The Broncos were led in scoring by Tyson Degenhart, who finished with 28 points. Max Rice added 17 points and six rebounds for Boise State.
Why Bet on Boise State Broncos?
Boise State (14-6, 5-2 MW) comes off a 90-84 home OT loss to No. 18 Utah State on Saturday. Aggies senior guard Ian Martinez scored the game-tying layup with one second remaining in regulation and Utah State made 10-of-11 free throws in overtime. USU took that momentum into overtime and began the extra period on an 8-1 run to take an 84-77 lead with 1:29 to play. The Broncos got within two points at 84-82 following a 3-pointer from Tyson Degenhart with 34 seconds to play, but USU made six straight free throws down the stretch for the win.

After shooting 48.3 percent (14-of-29) in the first half, Utah State’s defense held the Broncos to just 38.5 percent (10-of-26) shooting in the second half, and just 2-of-10 shooting in overtime, including 1-of-6 from 3-point range. USU, on the other hand, shot 57.7 percent (15-of-26) in the second half.
Boise State played its first overtime game since an 87-76 win over UNLV in the Mountain West tournament (March 9, 2023). Degenhart scored 24 points to go along with four rebounds and two steals. He moved up to 19th in the school’s all-time scoring list with 1,023 points, passing Marcus Shaver, Jr.
O’Mar Stanley knocked down 20 points with nine rebounds and two assists. Chibuzo Agbo added 15 points, seven rebounds and two assists. Abgo has made multiple 3-pointers in 12-of-20 games this season, and made at least one 3-pointer in 14-consecutive games.
“I know I’ve got winners and that’s just this league,” said head coach Leon Rice. “When you play in a great league with great teams, there’s just a fine line on who’s going to come out on top each game.”
The Aggies were the third ranked opponent Boise State already has played this month with BSU beating No. 18 Colorado State (65-58) and No. 24 San Diego State (67-66). BSU is approaching its 900th win as a Division I program. The Broncos are 895-693 since moving up to Division I in 1970-71.
Boise State has won nine games by single digits this season — tied for the third most in the country. Four wins have been decided by a single possession. The Broncos are one of the top rebounding teams in the country, ranking 14th in opponent offensive rebounding efficiency. They have limited opponents to fewer than 10 offensive rebounds in 10 of the last 11 games.
Since the start of the 2021-22 season, Boise State has excelled on the road with 17 total road wins, which is the most in the Mountain West in that span. BSU has won a game at every Mountain West venue and is 14-7 in Mountain West road games — tied for the best record in the conference in that stretch.

Why Bet on New Mexico Lobos?
No. 19 UNM (18-3, 6-2 MW) won its fifth game in a row Sunday, 89-55 at home over a good Nevada team. In a raucous environment, Nevada struggled on both ends of the court, as they shot just 33.9 percent from the field and 23.5 percent from behind the arc, while in turn allowing New Mexico to complete the game with clips of 58.6 percent from the field and 50 percent from behind the arc. Nevada had a season-high in turnovers with 15, and the Lobos scored 25 points off the Pack’s turnovers.

Trailing 48-30 with 15:57 to go in the game, the Pack went on a 14-5 run over the next five minutes and 46 seconds to get within nine points. Unfortunately, that was as close as Nevada would get, as the Lobos hit back-to-back 3-pointers to end the Pack’s run and push their lead back up to 15 points. The Wolf Pack had won nine straight in the series. The Lobos posted their largest margin of victory in a conference game since 2011-12, while handing Nevada its most lopsided loss since 2014-15.
Jaelen House led the Lobos with 21 points, six assists and six steals, the only 20/6/6 game in Mountain West play over the past 14 seasons. He was one of five Lobos in double figures, as Jamal Mashburn, Jr. added 14 points and Nelly Junior Joseph had a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Donovan Dent added 11 points and Mustapha Amzil scored 11 off the bench.
“It was a great performance all around by our guys. Nevada has been really, really good and was coming off a really good game against Colorado State. It was a team effort for 40 minutes. We got better as the game went on, which is great to see. Jaelen House was phenomenal, not just the shot making but the steals. Offensively we were great and defensively we turned them over,” Coach Richard Pitino said.
House was named the conference’s player of the week, while JT Toppin was named the freshman of the week. House’s player of the week honor is the second of his career and the second by a Lobo this season, joining Donovan Dent, who was honored on Dec. 11. Toppin earned his third straight freshman of the week honor and his seventh of the season, the second most awards in a season in the history of the honor.
New Mexico has won consecutive Mountain West games by at least 20 points for the first time since 2007-08 (91-51 vs. Colorado State, 100-55 vs. Wyoming) UNM has won five straight Mountain West games by double figures, the longest streak since a seven-game streak in 2011-12.
UNM is one of three teams in the nation (Bryant, Wright State) with five different players posting a 25-point game this season. It marks the first season in UNM history with five different 25-point scorers.
New Mexico is ranked in the top 30 of KenPom in defensive efficiency at 97.0, its best rating since 2012-13 when it finished the year at 90.9. UNM ranks 10th nationally in steals per game at 10.2 and 12th nationally in turnovers forced per game at 16.2. Seven opponents this season have had their season-high in turnovers come against UNM.
