The 2021-22 College Basketball Season is underway, and we’ve already seen some great action! Some of the nation’s top teams have separated themselves early on from the rest of the field. Here are some early season NCAA Basketball National Championship Betting predictions for some teams that are capable of winning the Championship.
Early Season Championship Predictions | College Basketball Betting
Gonzaga Bulldogs
Even though Mark Few lost three of his top four scorers from last year’s runner-up squad, Gonzaga is poised to make another run at the title. Drew Timme is a candidate for numerous Player of the Year awards. He has shown a great scoring ability early in the season. Few also brought in one of the nation’s top freshmen in Chet Holmgren. The 7-footer possesses the skills of a guard and can also bang around inside. The Zags are loaded and will be tough to beat in the postseason. Even though they lost their early-season battle with Duke, they beat UCLA and Texas, so they’ll be well-rested heading into their conference season.
UCLA Bruins
Last year’s Cinderella Final Four story returns the nucleus of last year’s squad. They also added Myles Johnson, a rugged post-player transfer from Rutgers. Mick Cronin also has a very good freshman class to add to his core of Johnny Juzang, Tyger Campbell, and Jaime Jaquez. Cronin’s teams always play hard-nosed basketball with tenacious defense.
Purdue Boilermakers
Matt Painter’s squad may be one of the most balanced teams in the country, as they can beat you inside or outside. Sophomore guard Jaden Ivey is one of the most dynamic players in the country and has a future in the NBA. Combine him with the sharp-shooting of Sasha Stefanovic, and the post play of All-American candidate Trevion Williams, and you have a lethal combination. And we can’t forget 7’4” sophomore big man Zach Edey, who is very mobile for a big man. He has put up some big scoring games early in the season. With Purdue’s depth, they should be equipped to make a run in the NCAA Tournament.
Duke Blue Devils
After beating Gonzaga on Saturday night in Las Vegas, the Duke Blue Devils have moved to the top of the polls. On top of this being Coach K’s farewell season, the Dukies have a loaded squad. Freshman Paulo Banchero will be one of the top picks in the NBA Draft if he chooses to leave early. Banchero is just one of many talented freshmen on this year’s roster. Wendell Moore will be the leader on the floor for the Blue Devils, and the junior guard has improved every year he has been at Duke. If Coach K can find enough playing time for his loaded squad, they could be hard to stop in March.
Kansas Jayhawks
Bill Self is no stranger to the spotlight. His Kansas Jayhawks are perennial powerhouses in the world of college basketball. This year is no different, as Self returns four starters from last year’s squad. On top of those four, he gets Arizona State transfer Remy Martin to run the show from the point guard position. Self is one of the top recruiters in the country, and the Jayhawks always seem to be in the thick of things come tournament time.
