A Two-Team Race?
The odds would suggest that this is a two-team race to win the SEC Tournament as Kentucky and Auburn are both well ahead of the pack. Even though the SEC has a number of great teams this season, it does feel like Kentucky and Auburn are the only schools that can go on a big run in March.
Auburn and Kentucky look like the two favorites to win the regular-season title, but Tennessee is in the mix as well. Having the number one seed for the tournament could serve as a big advantage, but there will still be tough games ahead.
Auburn and Kentucky would make for a great SEC title game, as both teams are capable of scoring more than 80 points per game. Even though this does feel like a two-team race at the moment, March is always a month for upsets.
This League Has Depth
What has made the SEC such a strong conference this season is that there is plenty of depth throughout the league. That is going to make the SEC Tournament more exciting, and it’s also going to create some solid betting opportunities.
There are two teams to keep your eye on once the SEC Tournament begins, and that is Arkansas and LSU. Arkansas (+860) and LSU (+1200) are easily good enough to win the conference tournament, as each team was projected to go deep in March.
You could even look at Alabama (+1500) as a solid underdog pick next weekend in Tampa, and don’t be surprised if a middle-of-the-pack team is able to win the title.
Wildcats Win the SEC
There are some great betting opportunities when looking at the odds in the SEC, but there is one team that deserves the backing. Kentucky is a team that is absolutely loaded with talent, and they are not going to get beat when they are playing as good as they can.
Head coach John Calipari has been able to get his team to play defense, but they are also able to score better than most teams in this conference. This feels like the year for Kentucky, and they are going to win the SEC Tournament before making a big run in the NCAA Tournament.
