1 UConn Huskies vs. 10 San Diego State Aztecs

Game Line: UConn -9.5 / O/U 125.5

Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 10:09 PM | TBS, truTV
TD Garden, Boston, MA

After two dominating performances, it’s easy to see why UConn is such a massive favorite over the SDSU Aztecs. The Huskies blasted Stetson 91-52. Then in their second round game, Connecticut absolutely demolished Northwestern 75-58.

In both games, Dan Hurley’s defense showed why so many believe they are the team to beat to cut down the nets on April 8. However, even though UConn continues to play stunning defense, the Huskies three point shooting left much to be desired versus the Wildcats.

UConn went 3-of-22 from behind the arc. That’s 13.6%. The problem for Connecticut in this game is that San Diego State has excellent defense as well.

The Aztecs held Yale to 57 points in a blowout victory. If UConn struggles from three, the Huskies will find it difficult to win this game outright because unlike many of their other opponents, San Diego State cannot only hang with the Huskies in the paint, the Aztecs should control the paint.

2 Illinois Fighting Illini vs. 3 Iowa State Cyclones

Game Line: Iowa State -2.5 / O/U 145.5

Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 10:09 PM | TBS, truTV
TD Garden, Boston, MA

Iowa State hasn’t let up since the amazing 69-41 beating the Cyclones handed South Region top seed Houston in the Big 12 Championship. In that game, Iowa State showed that they’re much more than just a defensive powerhouse. The Cyclones have carried over their terrific form to the NCAA Tournament, blowing by South Dakota State 82-65 and then taking down Pac-12 squad Washington State 67-56.

In the Washington State game, the Cyclones shot a blistering 50% from three. But Iowa State was just 23-of-57 from the field. On Thursday night, the Big 12 takes on a Big Ten team that’s shooting lights out.

Illinois shot 52% from the field and 46% from three on their way to scoring 85 points against Morehead State in their first game. Then in their second, the Illini torched Duquesne with 89 after shooting over 59% from the field.

The Illini are playing excellent hoops. Not only will Illinois win this ATS, but the Illini will knockout the Cyclones, taking the game straight up.

Sweet 16 Betting Prediction on Virginia vs Iowa State and Game Info

When: Friday, March 25 at 7:10 PM EST
Where: United Center in Chicago, Illinois
TV: CBS
Radio: Virginia / Iowa State
Stream Option: March Madness Live
NCAAB Odds: Virginia -5.5

Why Bet on Virginia

The Virginia Cavaliers, led by head coach Tony Bennett are a very well rounded basketball team. The Cavaliers have a great offensive player in Malcolm Brogdon, and a really strong defense. Brogdon is scoring more than 18 points per game, while the Cavaliers are holding opponents to just just 59.7 points per game. Virginia’s last three losses on the season were to teams still playing in the NCAA tournament. The Cavaliers fell to North Carolina, Duke and Miami. Virginia is currently ranked 4th in the latest Associated Press Top 25.

Why Bet on Iowa State

The Iowa State Cyclones, led by first year head coach Steve Prohm is a wildly athletic basketball team. Their offense can score, but they become a wild card on the defensive side of the ball. The Cyclones are led by their forward Georges Niang, with 19.8 points per game. Monte Morris is also putting together a nice statistical season, with 13.9 points per game, and just shy of 7 assists per game. The Cyclones are scoring 81.8 points per game, but allowing teams to score 75 per game. Iowa State scored 94 and 78 in their first two tournament games.

Expert Betting Pick & Final Score Prediction

The Virginia Cavaliers are a tough team to play, especially if you do not play defense. The Iowa State Cyclones have not been a great defensive team, which could cause problems in this game. Virginia loves their route to the Final Four, with the loss of Michigan State in their bracket. Look for this game to stay close for awhile, but in the end, Virginia will just wear the Cyclones down. Bet on the Virginia Cavaliers – 5.5 over the Iowa State Cyclones, and head to the Elite 8 on Sunday. Final score prediction for this game is Virginia 82 and Iowa State 71.
