NCAA Which Teams Do Oddsmakers Give The Best Likelihood to Win It All in March
Top Teams Based On Odds
- Houston Cougars +640
- Kansas Jayhawks +880
- Alabama Crimson Tide +990
First, let’s discuss third choice Alabama. Brandon Miller has continued to play, but that could quickly change. Miller’s situation, he’s involved a deadly shooting, is fluid.
Not only that, but Bama doesn’t have the hoops pedigree to make it to the Final Four, much less win the title, which brings us to the other teams in this category.
No doubt, Kelvin Sampson’s Houston Cougars will be tough to beat. The Cougs are a bunch of men playing against children in most of their games. But Houston isn’t the top play.
The top play are the defending champions, the Kansas Jayhawks. Rock Chalk has quietly become the best team in the nation. Coach Bill Self knows how to ready his team for the NCAA Tournament. Consider Kansas the team with the best chance to cut down the nets.

Second Choices Based on Odds
- Purdue Boilermakers +1025
- UCLA Bruins +1100
- Arizona Wildcats +1425
Among the three teams in the second tier, Purdue and UCLA have issues. The Boilermakers’ guards can struggle. UCLA’s inside game often leaves much to be desired.
Arizona has great guard play and a fantastic inside presence. For sure, the Wildcats will throw in a dud once in a while.
But if Tommy Lloyd can get the Cats to play consistently throughout the NCAA Tournament, the 2023 team will have a better shot of winning the title than the 1-seed 2022 March Madness squad. Consider backing Arizona if you want to play a second tier squad.

Third Picks Based on Odds
- Baylor Bears +1575
- Connecticut Huskies +2000
- Texas Longhorns +2100
It’s difficult to see the Texas Longhorns winning the NCAA Tournament with an interim coach. The domestic assault charges against Chris Beard have been dropped. But the Longhorns can’t rehire their old coach.
So Texas isn’t a good play to win it all. Like Texas, Connecticut also isn’t a great play to cut down the nets.
The Huskies are a solid team, but they lack a killer instinct. So although UConn heads into the final regular season week playing terrific basketball, the Huskies are 6-1 SU in their last 7, they’re tough back. Also, how good, really, are teams in the Big East?
Baylor has beaten Texas at home and Oklahoma State on the road in their last two games. The Bears have terrific guards and a good front line. Also, coach Scott Drew knows how to get Baylor ready for deep NCAA Tournament runs.
So if you’re looking to play a third tier team, consider backing the Baylor Bears to get it done.
