Betting 2024 NFL Season

Less than five seasons ago, no team in the AFC East dare challenge the New England Patriots.

The Pats ruled the East when winning division titles every season.

Times have changed.

Heading into 2024, the Patriots project as one of the worst teams in the NFL while the Jets, Bill, and Dolphins are division, conference, and Super Bowl contenders.

Which AFC East team takes the division?

Keep reading for NFL odds, analysis, and picks for the AFC East.

Writer’s Picks for the 2024 AFC East Picks

First Place: New York Jets +155

The Bills had been the favorite to win the division up until a couple of weeks ago.

But after watching how the Jets have performed in training camp, odds have swung to the beaten down franchsie.

Even though Hasson Reddick has yet to put on a Jets uniform, and may not this season, NYJ is still the team to back to win it all.

Breece Hall has shown flashes of having a Christian McCaffrey like season at running back.

Aaron Rodgers and Garrett Wilson are on the same page and the offensive line is much better now that Tyron Smith and top draft pick Olu Fashanu will play left tackle.

J-E-T-S wins the division.

Second Place: Buffalo Bills +175

Bills’ rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman has the makings of one of the top receivers in the NFL.

Still, he’s a rookie.

So the Bills are going to have to rely on Josh Allen way too often again.

James Cook is a decent running back who will take off some pressure and the defense will be good because Sean McDermott is a great defensive coach.

The reliance on Allen though has been an issue the past few seasons.

The problem is that Josh slows down towards the end of the season.

Last year, it helped the Bills change up the offense some, which turned into a 5-game winning streak.

If Buffalo starts out the season relying more on Cook, they will challenge the Jets.

Keep that in mind when making your AFC East bet.

Third Place: Miami Dolphins +240

Miami’s offense should be one of the best in the NFL.

The issue will be on defense where players like Jalen Ramsey, Kendall Fuller, Bradley Chubb, and Jaelan Phillips, although all great, are veterans with a lot of miles on the tires.

Fuller and Ramsey should make for the best pair of cornerbacks in the league.

Both have suffered injuries throughout their careers, though, and the Fins can’t afford to lose either to injury.

Also, when it comes down to it, as good as Tua is, he’s the third best quarterback in the division after a couple of future hall of fame players in Aaron Rodgers and Josh Allen.

The best the Dolphins can hope for is a wildcard.

Beating the Bills for second place or the Jets for second place is possible.

But beating NYJ and Buffalo and winning the division isn’t possible.

Fourth Place: New England Patriots +2400

The Patriots traded their best player, linebacker Matthew Judon, a couple of weeks ago.

Losing your best player heading into the season is a recipe for disaster.

On paper, New England’s roster is bad.

It may not be as horrendous as Carolina’s, but it’s close.

Robert Kraft and head coach Jerod Mayo know this.

New England isn’t going to rush the rebuild.

So even sniffing a division title would be a miracle.

AFC East Odds

  • New York Jets +155
  • Buffalo Bills +175
  • Miami Dolphins +240
  • New England Patriots +2400

Offense Not Clicking for Jets

It’s been an interesting season for head coach Robert Saleh and his New York Jets. The Jets lost their starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the first few minutes of the first game of the season. Since then, the combination of Zach Wilson and Tim Boyle have struggled under center. Wilson came back last week, and is prepared to be the starter fro the rest of the season. But, his numbers have not been great. Wilson has 8 touchdowns and 7 interceptions in 11 games.

The run game for the Jets was supposed to be better as well. The Jets brought Dalvin Cook in, and he is averaging just 16.2 yards per game. He has 66 carries in 13 games. Breece Hall started the season effective, but has slowed down quite a bit since. The Jets have just four rushing touchdowns on the season.

Garrett Wilson needs 147 receiving yards to reach 1,000 on the season. He is by far the top target for Wilson in the passing game for the Jets. Wilson is tied with Hall for the most receiving touchdowns on the team, with three. Tyler Conklin is second on the team with 506 yards on the season, but has yet to score a touchdown.

Jets Defense Strong Suit

The Jets do their work on the defensive side. New York is led by C.J. Mosley and Quincy Williams. They both have over 100 tackles on the season, Jermaine Johnson leads the team with 6.5 sacks, while Quinton Jefferson has six. The Jets have 12 interceptions on the season, with one for touchdown. Jordan Whitehead leads the team with four, while Brandin Echols returned one for a touchdown. On the season, the Jets are allowing just 19.8 points per game.

Finishing Up 2023

New York will host the Washington Commanders Week 15 on Christmas Eve, and then finish the season with back to back road games. The Jets are at the Browns on December 28th and then will face the Patriots on January 7th.

vs Miami Dolphins | Sunday, December 17, 2023
vs Washington Comanders | Sunday, December 24, 2023
vs TNF Cleveland Browns | Thursday, December 28, 2023
vs New England Patriots | Sunday, January 7, 2024

Hill Questionable for Miami

The Miami Dolphins have been one of the best teams in 2023, with the assistance of Tyreke Hill. Hill is one of the MVP candidates for a reason. He has caught 97 passes for over 1,500 yards and 12 touchdowns. He hurt his ankle in the loss against the Titans, and was limited. Now, his status is questionable for this game. The offense looks very limited without him in the game.

Raheem Mostert has been fantastic as the starting running back in Miami. Mostert had two late touchdowns in the loss to the Titans, and now has 16 on the season. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has four games to get 1,303 yards to reach 5,000 on the season. Tua also has thrown 24 touchdowns on the season, with half of them to Hill.

Miami on the season is scoring 31.6 points per game, while leading the National Football League with 279.2 passing yards per game. Jaylen Waddle is second on the team with 822 receiving yards, and 3 touchdowns. After that, it’s Braxton Berrios, Cedrick Wilson and Durham Smythe.

Miami Defense Looking to Score

The defense is led by the 7.5 sacks from defensive tackle Christian Wilkins. Zach Sieler, Jaelan Phillies and Bradley Chubb also have 6.5 for the Dolphins. On the season, Miami has 42 sacks. If you are looking for turnovers, Jalen Ramsey leads the team with three interceptions. The Dolphins have four touchdowns, all via interception returns.

Dolphins Finishing Schedule

This is the first of the final four games of the season for the Dolphins before the postseason arrives. Next week, Miami will host the Dallas Cowboys on Christmas Eve. After that, the Dolphins have a big game on the road at the Baltimore Ravens. The final game of the season is at home against the Buffalo Bills. The Dolphins have one of the hardest remaining schedules, so a win over the Jets is nearly mandatory for Coach McDaniel and his squad.

Dolphins and Jets Compete in a Good One

Obviously the status of Tyreke Hill is a big one. As we saw in Week 14, the Dolphins offense is different without him in the game. If he does not play, Miami is going to continue to struggle on offense. If he plays, and is relatively healthy, Miami should  get their 10th win. Albeit, expect the Jets to have a solid game plan for him and the entire offense. Miami is not playing as well as they were earlier in the season. Regardless of his status, we are taking the New York Jets to cover this large spread. Too many points for a divisional battle.

Bet the New York Jets +9 over the Miami Dolphins in this game on Sunday in the National Football League. Enjoy the game and best of luck with all your bets.

NFL Beeting: AFC East Free Agency Thoughts Week 1

Previous Betting News

Okay MYBookie NFL fans and betting enthusiasts, with the current free agent signing period producing a ton of change across the league and none bigger than in the AFC East, it’s time to offer up some expert insight into how each team fared in this year’s free agency. Let’s get started with the once, perennially-powerful New England Patriots, who will look as different as they ever have in the last two decades with their NFL Odds and Super Bowl Odds Updated.

AFC East Free Agency Thoughts Week 1

New England Patriots

The Patriots saw six-time Super Bowl winning quarterback Tom Brady bolt for Tampa Bay, mostly because head coach Bill Belichick couldn’t stop treat the GOAT like he was just a ‘normal’ quarterback. Now, the Pats have a roster of quarterbacks featuring the likes of Jarrett Stidham, Brian Hoyer and Cody Kessler. New England did manage to retain their top two impending free agents in veteran guard Joe Thuney and Pro Bowl safety Devin McCourty, but they also lost stalwarts, Kyle Van Noy and Jamie Collins Sr. Overall, the Pats get a failing grade because they couldn’t retain Tom Brady and they certainly didn’t make any real roster improving additions.

Buffalo Bills

Additions/players brought back:

The Bills pulled off a stunning move by adding Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowl wide receivers Stefon Diggs to go along with John Brown and Cole Beasley. Buffalo also made some nice additions on the defensive side of the ball that could pay big dividends by adding two veteran defensive tackles, edge rusher Mario Addison and former perennial Pro Bowl cornerback Josh Norman. The Bills not only closed the gap on the Patriots, but they may have even surpassed the Pats.

The Dolphins pulled off one of the biggest free agent additions by adding Pro Bowl cornerback Byron Jones to a massive contract that makes him the highest paid cornerback in the league. Now, the Fins have arguable the best pair of cornerbacks in the league with Jones joining Pro Bowler Xavien Howard. I love Miami’s addition of veteran running back Jordan Howard and guard Ereck Flowers on offense and the Fins made some even bigger moves on the other side of the ball by adding edge rushers, Shaq Lawson, Kyle Van Noy and Emmanuel Ogbah. While Miami may have overpaid Ogbah and Flowers isn’t exactly a Pro Bowler, Miami’s free agency upgrades looks fantastic.

The Jets overpaid tackle George Fant on three-year deal and their additions of cornerback Brian Poole, center Connor McGovern and guard Alex Lewis just don’t overwhelm anyone. The loss of veteran wide receiver Robby Anderson will sting and the loss of fellow wideout Demaryius Thomas won’t help Sam Darnold grow as a passer either. New York’s loss of three offensive linemen also doesn’t bode well heading into 2020. Overall, the Jets get a big-time failing grade!

2023 AFC East Betting Favorites, Possible Upsets, and Surprises | MyBookie Conference Betting Preview

AFC East | American Football Conference – Eastern Division
New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills, New York Jets, Miami Dolphins

Possibly the biggest news in the NFL offseason came from the AFC East. The New York Jets, who have had a hard time competing for the top of the division, added one of the elite quarterbacks in all of the National Football League. Now, keep in mind that the elite quarterback is now 39 years old and looking to start a new one with a new set of receivers. Aaron Rodgers, who will turn 40 in December, is the signal caller for the New York Jets.

With that, let’s take a look at the AFC East betting favorites, possible upsets, and surprises through out the NFL regular season:

Bills Still Remain Favorites

Let’s just make this clear right from the beginning. No matter what happened during the off-season, Sean McDermott and the Buffalo Bills are still the team to beat in the division. But, the gap narrowed a bit. The Buffalo Bills are +120 to win the AFC East, while the New York Jets are +270, the Miami Dolphins are +300, and the New England Patriots are +800. The Patriots have made some roster improvements, which has led many to consider taking them as the underdog to win the division. They will need some help.

Bills Second in the AFC – Favorites

Not only are the Buffalo Bills the favorites to win the AFC East, but they are also second in the entire AFC to reach the Super Bowl. The defending Super Bowl Champions Kansas City Chiefs, are +330, while the Buffalo Bills come in at +500. The Cincinnati Bengals are next at +550, and everyone behind them is double-digit odds.

Within the AFC East, though – the Jets come in tied with the Dolphins at +1100 to win the AFC. If you are looking for a longshot- Bill Belichick and his Patriots are 10th on the list at +3500 to reach the Super Bowl.

Win Totals for 2023

When it comes to Vegas numbers for win totals, the Buffalo Bills sit at around 11 wins. The Bills are -150 at Over 10.5 and +130 at under 10.5. If you move to 12.2, the over is +225, while the under is -330. The Bills look like Vegas thinks they are an 11-win team.

The Miami Dolphins are right around a 10-win team. Miami is listed at even money to win over 9.5 games and -120 to win under 9.5 games. So, many would argue Vegas thinks they will win 9 games in 2023.

The New England Patriots are around 7-8 wins. If you want over 7.5, you can grab them at even money. If you are taking the under 7.5, you can grab them at -120.

Finally, Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets are right around 9-10 wins. If you want the over 9.5 wins for the Jets, they are at -130, and the under 9.5 at +110.

Bet Regular Season Wins by Teams

Possible Upsets Brewing

When looking at the AFC East, you notice the first week sees the Bills at the Jets. The Jets and their crowd will be fired up to start the season. Less film to study on what Rodgers and the Jets offense may do will be scary for the Bills. While Buffalo will remain a favorite in this game, this has upset potential written all over it.

The Bills also are on the road at the Dolphins in Week 18. This is January 7th, 2024. Could this be for the AFC East title? This is another one that, if oddsmakers had to put a line out – the Bills would be the favorite. There is a ton of football to be played, but this is one to keep your eye on. Warm weather in January for the Dolphins seems advantageous.

The Jets are a team that will certainly be marked as a team to look out for. Their 2023 schedule starts rough. The Jets have the Bills, Cowboys, Patriots, Chiefs, Broncos, and Eagles to start the season. That’s both Super Bowl teams from a season ago and two other teams expected to win the divisional race.

Talent All Over Division

This division is full of talent. The Bills with Allen, Diggs, Davis, and even James Cook on offense, with Von Miller, Tre’Davious White, and Jordan Poyer on defense. Miami will send Tua under center and team him with the elite duo of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Raheem Mostert is fast, and the offense looks set. Defensively, Bradley Chubb on the edge is a massive factor, but Jaelan Phillips and Christian Watkins will need to be elite again.

For the Patriots, Mac Jones is going to have to have a big season, and the addition of JuJu Smith-Schuster is one New England hopes pays plenty of dividends. The addition of Mike Gesicki is one that may go underlooked, but he’s going to be a big target for Jones. On the defensive side, the Patriots hope Christian Barmore helps get after the opposing quarterbacks.  Finally, for the Jets, Aaron Rodgers is in town and will be throwing to Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard, and Corey Davis. Tyler Conklin is the starting tight end for the Jets. Defensively, the Jets were good last year and have Carl Lawson, Quinnen Williams, and Quinton Jefferson up front.

This should be an epic 2023 season for the AFC East. Find out what comes to fruition as the NFL season quickly approaches!

AFC East Favorites to Win, Upsets, and Surprises for the 2022 Season | NFL Betting

Preseason is over and we are now just a matter of days away from Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season. I’m sure that most of you, like me, are looking over the games and trying to figure out how to wager in the opening week. There will be plenty of previews and predictions coming over the course of the season, but what better way to look ahead than to talk about the individual divisions? As always, some are stronger than others, with many believing that the AFC East is in the control of a single team. The feeling is that the East is the Buffalo Bills to lose, but is that how things will play out? We are going to look at the NFL AFC Conference Odds and try to make some predictions for the AFC East, so let’s get to it.

How Things Went in 2021

Before we look ahead, I thought it might be a good idea to look at how the division played out last season. It proved to be a little closer than most of us expected, but the Bills went on to win the division with an 11-6 record, holding off the New England Patriots, who went 10-7. The Miami Dolphins were next with 9 wins, followed by the Jets, who stumbled to another disappointing season, closing out at 4-13.

2022 Odds and Division Prediction

The Buffalo Bills are seen by many as one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl, but it all starts with winning the division and trying to nail down the #1 seed in the conference. No real surprise to find the Bills in as the favorite to win the East at odds of -239. I think they do just that, and I also think they will have a better record than last season.

There are still those who are concerned that Tua Tagovailoa might not be the man to lead the Dolphins to the promised land, but the team is sticking with him and got him some help, most notably with the signing of Tyreek Hill. The Dolphins are in at +430 and look like a decent pick to get a Wild Card spot this season.

Like we mentioned earlier, the Patriots did better than expected, picking up 10 wins last season, thanks in large part to the play of rookie QB Mac Jones. The fear is that Jones might fall into a sophomore slump and given what we saw in training camp and the preseason, the Patriots offense did not look particularly great. We may well be seeing a backward step here, but if Jones can play as he did last year, maybe the Patriots will be the surprise of the division. The Patriots are at +480 to win the East.

Finally, we have the New York Jets, and you have to say that up is really the only way they can go. They had a very solid offseason and should be better this year, but unless they get more out of Zach Wilson at QB, they are still going to be struggling to deliver any kind of major impact. With odds of +2200 to win the division, the Jets are a definite longshot.

2021 NFL Betting Odds & Picks for the AFC East Division

2021 NFL Regular Season: Sep. 9, 2021 – Jan. 9, 2022

NFL future odds on the AFC East show a much more competitive division than last season. The Buffalo Bills are a less than even money chalk to win the title. Both the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots are less than +400 choices, though. Check out AFC Division odds on all four AFC East teams as well as an odds analysis for each so you can bet against MyBookie’s NFL odds.

NFL AFC East

Buffalo Bills -140

The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship. The Bills making it to the conference title game was a massive step up. In 2021, many NFL Super Bowl future handicappers believe Buffalo takes the next step and makes it to the Lombardi Trophy game.

The main reason? Josh Allen will enter the season the favorite to win the NFL MVP. Allen has turned into one of the best quarterbacks in the league. He can pass and run.

Also, the defense should be much better. But as great as the Bills look, they’re a play against at the odds. Not because the Patriots should bounce back from last season, but because like Buffalo, Miami is a contender for the conference title.

Bills Offer Fair Odds: No

Miami Dolphins +350

The Miami Dolphins are one of the best teams in the NFL. For some reason, many believe they take a backward step in 2021 after a stunning 11-5 2020 season.

Why so negative? We’re wondering the same thing. First, Miami’s defense allowed 21.1 points per game, ranking sixth in the league.

Second, yes, Tua Tagovailoa had a couple of bad games, but overall he completed 64.1% of his passes and threw 11 TDs to just 5 picks. Those are great numbers for a rookie who just landed his favorite college target in Jaylen Waddle.

The Fins shouldn’t be the AFC East favorite, but the odds difference is too much. The Bills should be +200 and the Dolphins should be +250.

Dolphins Offer Fair Odds: Yes

New England Patriots +300

The Patriots are the biggest underlay on the board. New England made some major changes. None of the changes, including acquiring tight-end Hunter Henry, are for sure improvements.

More importantly, New England didn’t exactly fix its quarterback situation. Everybody went nuts after Mac Jones impressed during mini-camp. That’s mini-camp, a big difference from training camp and the regular season.

If Cam Newton starts, the team won’t do much. The Dolphins and Bills are just better, which is why at +300, the Patriots are a play against.

Patriots Offer Fair Odds: No

New York Jets +1600

It doesn’t appear as if the Jets have any chance of winning the AFC East. But the odds make the J-E-T-S an overlay.

For starters, only three teams are in the division. Also, who knows what may happen? If Josh Allen gets hurt, Buffalo wills struggle. If Tua regresses, the Fins will struggle. The Patriots won’t win the division unless Mac Jones is the next coming of John Elway.

Who knows? If you’re a New York Jets fan, why not back your team at 16-to-1?

Jets Offer Fair Odds: Yes
