2023 Buccaneers vs Jaguars Odds: NFL Week 16 Game Analysis for these 2 Top Division Teams

2023 Buccaneers vs Jaguars Odds: NFL Week 16 Game Analysis for these 2 Top Division Teams

A pair of National Football League teams from the state of Florida will get together on Sunday for a Week 16 tilt. The Jacksonville Jaguars will take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.

The Jacksonville Jaguars come into the game with an 8-6 record, which is tied with the Texans and Colts for the lead in the AFC South. Currently, the Jaguars lead the tiebreaker over the other two teams. But, Jacksonville has dropped three straight games coming into this one.

For Tampa Bay, they have won three in a row. Their three straight wins has them tied with the Saints for the top of the NFC South. The Buccaneers are coming off an impressive win over Green Bay in Week 15

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are listed at -0.5 in this game over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The total for this tilt on Christmas eve is set at 42.5.

MyBookie offers the line for the NFL game, analysis, and betting pick for the Jacksonville Jaguars versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers which are playing on Week 16 of the NFL season.

Jaguars Desperate for Win

The Jacksonville Jaguars are desperate for a Week 16 win. Doug Pederson and his Jaguars have run into some major struggles, getting outscored 88-65 in the three losses. In the last four losses for the Jaguars, they have allowed a total of 122 points. Jacksonville will need to be better, as their offense is just at 22.8 points per game.

The Jaguars are without Christian Kirk for the season, and likely Zay Jones, their second best receiver will miss this game as well. That puts more pressure on their quarterback position. Trevor Lawrence is the starter, but questionable for this game as he is in the concussion protocol. That would leave it up to CJ Beathard.

Travis Etienne needs 163 yards on the ground to reach 1,000 on the season, and he has 9 touchdowns to lead Jacksonville.

Mayfield To Evans Elite in 2023

Baker Mayfield has come in as the starting quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and done a great job. There is a strong case for Mayfield to win the comeback player of the year award in the league this season. The signal caller has thrown for 3,315 yards and 24 touchdowns. He has thrown all but two of the Buccaneers passes this season.

Mike Evans is having a great season as well. Evans has over 1,000 receiving yards, and leads the team with 11 touchdowns. The underrated offensive weapon for Tampa Bay has been their running back. Rachaad White leads the team with 834 yards on the ground, and is third on the team with over 430 receiving yards. White has a total of 6 touchdowns on the season.

Buccaneers Win Fourth Straight and Send Jacksonville to Further Struggles

What a game this should be. Two teams that really need wins. The Jaguars have struggled and the Buccaneers are playing good football. The Jaguars are beat up in skill spots, and that is not good news. For Tampa, they are playing some of their best football at their skill positions. Baker Mayfield is finding his weapons, and we look for that to continue in this one.

We are going to bet on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to win this game at home. The final bet for the Week 16 affair is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers -0.5 over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

It’s two Florida teams playing out the string on disappointing seasons on Sunday afternoon as the Jacksonville Jaguars host the Tampa Bay Bucs. Could be a fair amount of change on both clubs this offseason. The Jags are slight Mybookie NFL betting favorites.

Buccaneers vs Jaguars Last Meeting

In 2015, the Bucs beat the visiting Jaguars 38-31 to end what had been an 11-game home losing streak for Tampa. Doug Martin ran for 123 yards and three touchdowns — he’s long gone. Jameis Winston threw for 209 yards and one touchdown without an interception and he’s still around.

Blake Bortles passed for 303 yards and four TDs, but was sacked six times and also threw an interception that set up a Bucs touchdown. Bortles is now with the Rams. Corey Grant lost a third-quarter fumble that defensive end Jacquies Smith returned 3 yards for a score that put Tampa Bay ahead for good.

Why Bet on Tampa Bay?

Tampa was a 35-22 upset winner in Atlanta on Sunday. Jameis Winston completed 18-of-26 passes for 313 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. Winston is averaging over 325 yards and two touchdowns in his last nine games. Winston also became the first quarterback since Jon Kitna in 2002 to turn the ball over 100 times in 67 career games and the first quarterback since Deshone Kizer in 2017 to throw at least 20 interceptions in a season.

Winston’s third touchdown Sunday came from 347-pound defensive tackle Vita Vea — a former high school running back — who ran untouched into the flat for a 1-yard touchdown, the first of his career. He was the largest NFL player ever to catch a touchdown pass.

Chris Godwin recorded seven receptions for 184 yards and two touchdowns in the Buccaneers’ win. It marked Godwin’s third game of the season in which he had at least 150 receiving yards. Godwin and Tampa Bay wide receiver Mike Evans have each recorded at least 150 receiving yards in three games this season, becoming the first pair of teammates to each record three such performances in a single season in NFL history.

Godwin, who has 1,071 receiving yards this season, and Evans, who has 1,043 receiving yards in 2019, are the fourth pair of teammates each with at least 1,000 receiving yards in their team’s first 11 games, joining Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas (2014 Denver Broncos), Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce (2000 St. Louis Rams), and Pro Football Hall of Famer Don Maynard and George Sauer (1968 New York Jets).

Evans, who registered 50 receiving yards on Sunday, joined Hall of Famer Randy Moss (1998-2003) as the only players with at least 1,000 receiving yards in each of their first six seasons in NFL history.

Why Bet on Jacksonville?

The Jaguars lost their third in a row Sunday, 42-20 at Tennessee. The Titans scored four touchdowns over six offensive plays in the third quarter to blow it open. Derrick Henry became the first player in the NFL since 2006 to score two TDs within 20 seconds, and rookie receiver A.J. Brown capped the scoring spurt with a 65-yard TD catch that made it 35-3 with 6:57 left in the third quarter.

Nick Foles completed 32-of-48 passes for 272 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions while adding 20 yards on three rushing attempts. Foles was tagged for three sacks, resulting in a loss of 20 yards. The vast majority of Foles’ output including 30 of his 48 passing attempts came with Jacksonville trailing in the second half.

Jaguars coach Doug Marrone said he hasn’t considered a quarterback change even though the team is winless under Foles and won all four games with rookie Gardner Minshew.

“It’s going to be the same questions about jobs, switching quarterbacks, changes, players and all that stuff,” said Marrone in the aftermath of Sunday’s 22-point defeat. “We’re going to work our [butt] off to get this team right somehow, some way.” Leonard Fournette contributed 97 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries while adding nine grabs for 62 yards on 12 targets.

Fournette’s 33 touches were a career high by eight. Fournette got a monkey off his back by punching in a pair of touchdowns (each of the goal-line variety), doubling his season total while also erasing a five-game scoreless drought.

Defensive coordinator Todd Wash’s unit on Sunday gave up more than 200 yards rushing for the fourth time this season. That hadn’t been done before in franchise history. The Jaguars entered the weekend having allowed the most rushing yards after contact in the NFL.
