Chargers vs Vikings Odds and Betting Prediction for NFL Week 3

This Sunday, the Los Angeles Chargers and Minnesota Vikings will clash in a showdown between two winless teams, languishing at the bottom of the NFL standings as the season begins.

The Chargers have suffered consecutive heartbreakers, losing their first two games by a mere five points. Their season opener ended in a 36-34 defeat to the Miami Dolphins, followed by a nail-biting overtime loss of 27-24 to the Tennessee Titans.

The Vikings, in a similar predicament, have faced their share of close calls. Minnesota’s two losses have amounted to a nine-point differential. The irony lies in the belief that both teams could be sporting a 2-0 record at this juncture, yet they now find themselves on the precipice of a 0-3 start. The Los Angeles Chargers come into this game -1, despite being on the road at the Vikings. The total points for this game is set at 54

Chargers Hope for Ekeler’s Return

Despite Justin Herbert’s impressive performance, amassing over 530 passing yards and three touchdowns without throwing an interception, his team remains winless this season. This must be deeply frustrating for the talented signal caller. Even Keenan Allen’s remarkable two-touchdown catch on Sunday couldn’t steer the Chargers to victory.

The absence of their top running back, Austin Ekeler, due to injury added to their woes. Ekeler had delivered a stellar performance, rushing for over 115 yards in the game against the Dolphins.

In Sunday’s matchup, Joshua Kelley assumed the role of running back, contributing an average of 65 yards per game over the first two games of the season for the Chargers. The Achilles’ heel for the Chargers lies in their defense, which has been leaky, conceding an average of 31.5 points per game.

As we approach Week 3, all eyes will be on the Los Angeles Chargers injury report as they hope to get Ekeler back.

Vikings Hoping for Home Cooking

Minnesota had a golden opportunity to secure a significant victory against Philadelphia but struggled to stymie the Eagles‘ offense effectively, allowing them to score 34 points in their triumph.

One concerning trend for the Vikings is their propensity for turnovers. While Kirk Cousins has only thrown one interception, the offense has lost the ball four times due to fumbles, including a critical one in the end zone that thwarted a potential score for Justin Jefferson and the Vikings.

Speaking of Jefferson, he continues to showcase himself as one of the premier receivers in the league. The former LSU standout has hauled in an impressive 20 receptions for 309 yards this season, although he has yet to find the end zone.

If he can maintain his exceptional receiving yardage while adding some touchdowns to the mix and helping Minnesota secure victories, his odds for the NFL MVP title could see an upswing. In the touchdown department, Jordan Addison and T.J. Hockenson have notched two each, with K.J. Osborn contributing one. Alexander Mattison leads the ground game but averages just 31 yards per game.

Los Angeles Chargers vs Minnesota Vikings Final Prediction | Chargers and Vikings Fight to the End

We expect this to be an excellent National Football League game. It’s a surprise that both these teams have yet to win a game, and one of them will start the season 0-3. In the end, though, the Vikings, being at home, get the nod.

Look for Kirk Cousins to find his weapons early and often, and the Chargers do not have an answer for them. Brandon Staley’s seat gets a little warmer with another loss.

Betting the Minnesota Vikings +1 is the way to go with this game on Sunday afternoon.
