Two teams in the thick of the playoff race will square off on Sunday, as the Miami Dolphins will head north to Nashville to take on the Tennessee Titans. The Titans currently sit atop the AFC South with a 10-5 record. The Dolphins are one of the hottest teams in the league, reeling off seven straight wins after starting the season at 1-6. The Dolphins beat New England in Week 1, then lost their next six, and have now won their last seven. It’s time to check our NFL Betting analysis for the upcoming match between the Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans.
NFL Betting Preview for Miami Dolphins vs Tennessee Titans
Miami versus Tennessee Overview
This game could have huge implications on the race for one of the seven AFC playoff spots. Sitting at 8-7, the Dolphins cannot afford a loss in this one. They’re currently in the playoffs, as they hold the last wild card spot. If they win their next two games, Sunday against Tennessee, and then the following week against New England, they’re in. With a loss, they’ll fall back into a pack of teams that all have a shot at the playoffs.
As for the Titans, at 10-5, they should make the playoffs. With a win against the Dolphins, the Titans will clinch the AFC South. There are numerous ways that they can get into the playoffs, even with a loss on Sunday, but they’d really like to wrap up the division with a win against the Dolphins.
Miami Dolphins Analysis
Even though they still have a lot of deficiencies, the Dolphins are finding ways to win. Their offensive line is still a mess, their running game is questionable, and Tua Tagovailoa is doing just enough to win. Duke Johnson has sparked the Dolphin running game the past two weeks, but we’re not sure if he can sustain it. Miami knows that bad losses to Jacksonville and Atlanta earlier in the season could cost them a spot in the playoffs.
One of the main reasons for the Dolphins’ turnaround has been the improved play of the defense. They started off the season poorly, but they have turned things around throughout the winning streak. If Miami continues to play stellar defense, especially in the secondary, the Titans will struggle to move the ball.
Tennessee Titans Analysis
The return of AJ Brown sparked the Tennessee offense last week. Ryan Tannehill had been without Brown, Derrick Henry, and Julio Jones over the last few weeks, and that had really put a damper on the Tennessee offense. Tannehill will need Brown to play well against an elite Dolphins secondary.
Defensively, the Titans will need to find a way to contain Jaylen Waddle. Waddle has been Miami’s primary offensive weapon over the past few weeks. Mike Gesicki may also step up and make some plays for Miami, so he’s another one that Tennessee needs to key on. We’ll see if Duke Johnson tails off this week.
Prediction
Tennessee is a three-point favorite in this one. Miami has covered the spread in six of their last seven games. With the Miami defense playing great football, and the Tennessee offense failing to score over 20 points in their last three games, we’re going with the Dolphins in this one. Miami wins 24-21.
