Patriots vs Jets Odds: NFL Week 3 Betting Prediction for the Game

Written by on September 24, 2023

In Week 3, the New England Patriots face off against the New York Jets. This marks the Patriots’ inaugural away game as they aim to secure their first victory. Their journey thus far has been a challenging one, with a Week 1 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles followed by a loss in a Sunday Night Football showdown against the Miami Dolphins in Week 2.

Meanwhile, the Jets have displayed a mixed performance. They stunned the Buffalo Bills during a Monday Night Football matchup but encountered difficulties in Week 2, succumbing to the Dallas Cowboys. The New England Patriots are -3 in this game over the New York Jets. The total is listed at 36.5 points.

Patriots Off to Slow 2023 Starts

In the opening two games of the season, the New England Patriots have managed to accumulate only 37 points on the scoreboard. While this tally may appear modest, it’s worth noting that their upcoming opponent, the New York Jets, have scored just 32 points themselves.

The Patriots have encountered significant challenges in their rushing game, ranking among the NFL’s weakest in this department. Rhamondre Stevenson, with 27 carries, has struggled to gain momentum, amassing only 75 yards and a lone touchdown. Ezekiel Elliott, despite his arrival, has yet to make a substantial impact on the offense.

Mac Jones, serving as the starting quarterback, remains in a middle ground. He’s thrown for four touchdowns, including two to Hunter Henry, but has also been intercepted twice. To invigorate their offense, the Patriots must explore new strategies as the season unfolds.

Looking ahead, their schedule includes an away game against the Cowboys followed by a home matchup with the Saints on October 8th.

Jets Looking to Boost the Offense

In contrast, the situation for the New York Jets mirrors that of the New England Patriots in many ways. However, a key distinction lies in the fact that the Jets are relying on their backup quarterback.

In Week Two, Zach Wilson’s performance was far from stellar, marked by three interceptions during the game. Thus far this season, Wilson has only accumulated 310 yards and has thrown two touchdowns.

The Jets’ offensive struggles are evident, ranking 31st in passing offense but holding a 12th position in rushing. Breece Hall, with 136 yards over two games, curiously saw the ball only four times in their recent loss. New York is about to embark on a challenging stretch in their schedule, starting with this home game before facing the Chiefs next week and the Eagles visiting on October 15th.

New England vs. New York Final Betting Prediction | Patriots Find a Way to Win #1

The New England Patriots do not want to start the season 0-3. New England has played two pretty good teams to start the season. The Jets are solid, but with the loss of Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback play is just not going to be able to keep up in this game.

We are going with the New England Patriots to win this game. If you had to bet the game, take the Patriots 20-14 over the Jets on Sunday. Take the UNDER 36.5, and the Patriots to cover!

Patriots vs Jets Picks, Odds & Prediction – NFL Week 8 Betting Analysis

Previous Betting News

The New England Patriots (3-4) and New York Jets (5-2) square off in the eighth week of the 2022 NFL season. The Patriots were blindsided by the Chicago Bears on Monday in a 33-14 setback after two straight victories. The Jets, on the other hand, have now won four straight games after defeating the Denver Broncos 16-9. This should be an exciting AFC East matchup; let’s take a look at how these teams stack up against each other so you can bet against their NFL Betting Odds.

NFL Week 8 Betting Preview for New England Patriots at New York

New England Patriots Betting Preview: Patriots Look to Bounce Back after Loss to Bears

Prior to a Monday night meltdown against the Bears, New England had been solidifying its position as an AFC contender with two straight victories. Despite this, they were shocked by the Bears at home last Sunday, bringing their record to 3-4. Additionally, there are questions brewing about who will be the starting quarterback in New England after Bill Belichick replaced Mac Jones with Bailey Zappe.

Jones appeared lost during the game’s first half, finishing with a pedestrian 3/6 with one interception. The Patriots decided to try Bailey Zappe at quarterback as a result, and that did not work out, with Zappe throwing two interceptions. Overall, the offensive unit is still averaging over 340 yards and 22.1 points per game.

Despite Monday’s humiliating loss to the Chicago Bears, the New England Patriots defense recorded four sacks and one interception. Justin Fields and the Bears rushing attack ran all over the Patriots’ defense, recording 243 yards and two touchdowns. Be that as it may, New England’s defense has been strong, surrendering 20.9 points and 345.3 yards per game.

New York Jets Betting Preview: Jets go for Fifth Straight Win

The Jets, on the other hand, managed to win their fourth straight game, squeaking out a 16-9 victory over the Broncos last Sunday. The Jets will look to continue their impressive 2022 run thus far, but they will have to do it without star rookie running back Breece Hall due to a torn ACL.

The Jets have taken the NFL by storm with a 5-2 record and a half-game back from Buffalo for the division lead. Jets’ quarterback Zach Wilson has an undefeated record as a starter this year, while they have gotten solid contributions from star-studded rookies Hall and Garrett Wilson. Overall, the offense is averaging 22.7 points and over 330 yards per game.

The biggest asset to New York’s football team has been their defensive unit. In last week’s victory, the Jets’ defense conceded just nine points and recorded a sack and one interception. New York ranks in the top ten in yards allowed (314.7) and points allowed per game (19.6).

New England Patriots vs New York Jets Betting Lines & Odds

The New England Patriots are the road-betting favorites in this game, according to Mybookie, with the spread set at 1.5 points (-110). In terms of the moneyline, the Patriots are given odds of -125 to win, while the Jets are given odds of +105 to win. The Over/Under total for the game is 40.5 points.

Free Betting Pick

Before being defeated by the Bears, the Patriots appeared to be on the rise following their two lopsided victories. The defense has shut down the Lions and Browns for just 15 total points, while the offense totaled 67 points. Despite this, their offense struggled mightily last week, scoring just 14 points, including being held scoreless in the second half.

The Jets, on the other hand, are trending up with four straight victories. They have found an identity running the football, but the problem is they will be without their star rookie running back for the rest of the year. In addition, the Patriots have dominated the Jets winning their last ten over New York. Expect the Patriots to get back on track and take this game in East Rutherford.

NFL Betting Pick: New England Patriots -1.5 (-110)

Sam Darnold and the New York Jets will be looking to pull off an even bigger upset than the one they recorded in Week 6 when they host Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in their Week 7 AFC East divisional matchup. With Darnold looking to shine again and the Pats looking to avoid their first loss of the season, let’s find out which team is looking like the best pick to cover the chalk in this matchup.

Patriots vs Jets 2019 NFL Week 7 Odds, Preview & Pick

  • Where: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey
  • NFL Week 7 Odds: New England -9.5 / Total: 42.5

Why Bet On New England?

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that there are a ton of great reasons to back the Patriots (4-2 ATS) in this Week 7 pairing. First, New England is ranked first in scoring (31.7 ppg) and first in fewest points allowed (8.0 ppg). Then, there’s the fact that the Pats have put 33 points or more on the board in each of the last two weeks while not allowing more than 14 points in wins over Washington and the New York Giants, two teams that are similar to the Jets. Last but not least, New England has the huge edge in coaching with Bill Belichick being so far ahead of Adam Gase that it’s not even funny.

Why Bet On the NY Jets?

The Jets (2-3 ATS) might have just one victory this season, but they recorded it a week ago by upsetting Dallas 24-22. With quarterback Sam Darnold back under center a week ago, the Jets looked infinitely better than they did with rookie Luke Falk calling the shots. Then, there’s the fact that the jets have some nice talent surrounding Darnold starting with former perennial All-Pro running back Le’Veon Bell and veteran wide receivers Jamison Crowder and Robby Anderson. Last but not least, there’s the fact that the Jets have gone a bankroll-boosting 7-1-1 ATS in their last 9 home games against a team with a winning road record.

Patriots vs Jets Expert Analysis and Prediction

The Jets might be playing at home and they might have the gifted Sam Darnold under center, but New England is so much better than New York on both sides of the ball that I just can’t put any faith in the Jets covering the nearly double-digit spread in this contest.

I know New York has gone 5-1 ATS in their last six home dates against New England and that the home team in this series has gone 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 meetings, but the Patriots are a near-perfect 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and they just don’t look like they’re going to get upset by a team of New York’s caliber. I’m going with Tom Brady and company to get it done in this one and you should too!

Pick: New England 31 NY Jets 17

Previous Betting News

With Tom Brady and the New England Patriots looking to rebound from an absolutely humbling loss the last time they took the field, there’s only one real question surrounding their Week 12 matchup against the New York Jets.

Are Brady and the Pats locks to take down the rebuilding Jets and cover the chalk as a near, double-digit road favorite against the overmatched Jets? Let’s find out right now.

Patriots vs Jets NFL Week 12 Lines & Game Preview

  • When: Sunday, November 25, 2018 at 1:00 PM ET
  • Where: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey
  • TV: CBS
  • NFL Week 12 Odds: New England -10 / Total: 46

Why Bet On The New England Patriots?

Why should you bet on New England in this contest? Well, there are a multitude of great reasons. First the Patriots have a ton of motivation to bounce back from their stunning 34-10 smackdown loss at Tennessee in Week 10. Tom Brady passed for 254 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions against the Titans and New England’s defense gave up two TD passes to Marcus Mariota and a pair of TD runs to running back Derrick Henry.

Another great reason to back New England is that they have the far superior offense in this pairing as they average almost eight points per game more than New York. Another good reasons to back the Pats is that that have the slightly better defense in giving up almost two fewer points per game defensively than the Jets.

Last but not least, New England is well-rested – and Bill Belichick is more prepared – after getting a bye last week.

Why Bet On The New York Jets?

Why should you bet on the Jets in Week 12? Well, to be honest about it, there are a couple of good reasons. First, New York is playing at home and home teams win far more often than not in the NFL. An even better reason is that the Jets have made a habit out of covering the spread against the Patriots, having gone 5-0 ATS in their last five home dates against the Patriots.

The Jets will also have plenty of motivation, seeing as how they’ve dropped four straight games including their humbling 41-10 blowout loss against the mostly pitiful Buffalo Bills. Veteran quarterback Josh McCown had a poor performance in passing for just 134 yards with two interceptions and no touchdowns while New York’s defense allowed Buffalo’s Matt Barkley to pass for 232 yards with two touchdowns and no picks in his first start of the season.

Expert Analysis and Prediction for Patriots vs Jets

I don’t see any sense in beating around the bush with my pick on this Week 12 matchup since New England is a virtual lock in my opinion – and apparently 74 percent of public bettors agree!

The Patriots have won four straight and eight of the last 10 meetings against the Jets. More importantly however is the fact that New England is going to be fully focused on getting back on track and picking up some momentum prior to the playoffs.

New England has gone an unblemished 4-0 ATS in their last four games against their AFC East counterparts, 5-1 ATS in their last half-dozen games following a bye week and 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games against a team with a losing record.

Conversely, New York is just 7-19 ATS in their last 26 games in the month of November, 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games against their AFC counterparts and 1-5 SU and ATS in their last 6 games following a straight up loss. There is absolutely no way that Tom Brady and the New England Patriots fail to win this game and cover the chalk MYBookie NFL betting faithful.
