Betting MVP Next Season

Remember, betting on the next MVP is a strategic move.

While the big names boast shorter odds, analyzing breakout candidates, resurgent veterans, and teams with a revamped offense can reveal players with longshot odds but the potential to take home the coveted trophy.

The National Football League season is fastly approaching. The league is set to be another fantastic one.

It is always time to look ahead at the MVP listing for the season.

Let’s look at the players with long NFL MVP Odds to bet on:

Kirk Cousins +3500

The Falcons quarterback is going to have a ton of motivation.

After leaving Minnesota, a few days later his new team drafted a rookie quarterback.

Michael Penix Jr will be breathing down his neck.

The problem for Cousins will be the Falcons not putting an emphasis on throwing the football down field.

They are going to run the ball a ton, and run the clock.

Cousins would certainly be in a great spot at 35/1 if we thought Atlanta was going to be more aerial in their attack.

Still a consideration at his odds.

Christian McCaffrey +4000

At 40/1 – the most explosive player on the offensive side of the ball, and possibly the best player in the league has to get consideration.

While this is a quarterback award for the most part, this is the guy you would consider with bucking that trend.

There has been no signs of the 49ers looking to move a different direction other than letting McCaffrey run the ball early and often.

When he is not running the ball, the former Stanford star is catching passes out of the backfield.

McCaffrey at 40/1 are good odds.

Jared Goff +4000

The Lions signal caller was terrific a season ago.

Dan Campbell and his Detroit squad was a win away from the Super Bowl.

Goff will look to lead the offense that continues to build.

At 40/1 Goff comes in at the same odds as McCaffrey, but behind former divisional rival Cousins.

It will take a monster season, but the quarterback has the skill set to be up for the task.

This is an interesting one to consider.

Caleb Williams +5000

There is a ton of hype in the Windy City for the former USC Trojans quarterback.

The top pick in the draft was the reason the Bears sent Justin Fields to Pittsburgh.

Now, Williams got some offensive help with Keenan Allen coming over to join DJ Moore.

Rome Odunze is also projected to be a big help in the Chicago offense.

These are not rookie of the year odds, but may as well swing for the fences for the next Chicago superstar.

Tyreek Hill +7500

The final piece of the puzzle for MVP Odds to consider is the Cheetah.

The former Chiefs receiver has been dynamite for the Dolphins.

Tua and Tyreke seem to have a terrific combination.

Once he catches the football, and gets some open space, he is awfully tough to catch up to.

At 75/1 this is one to watch and consider for the 2024 season.

Players With Long NFL MVP Odds You Should Bet On in 2017

Previous Betting News

If you aren’t betting on a quarterback from a good team to win the NFL MVP Award each year, then you simply are throwing money away. Since 2007, a QB from a contender has won the MVP every year but once. Will that change in 2017? Maybe. Here are some longer-shot NFL MVP choices worth a look at MyBookie. By longer shot, we’ll count anyone at +1500 or above.

Players With Long NFL MVP Odds You Should Bet On in 2017

Cardinals RB David Johnson (+1600)

This guy is the most electric running back in the NFL. In 2016, he fell just short of becoming the third running back in league history with 1,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards receiving in the same season. After setting a team record for touchdowns and leading the league in scrimmage yards, and after a streak of 15 straight games of at least 100 yards from scrimmage, he fell short of 1,000 receiving yards. He finished with 80 receptions for 879 yards.

“That is my main goal,” he said this offseason. “I must get 1,000 rushing and receiving. I definitely want to be one of those players. There’s only two other running backs who have done it. I definitely want to be among those guys.”

The only two guys to do it are Roger Craig for the San Francisco 49ers in 1985 and then Marshall Faulk in 1999 for the St. Louis Rams. If Johnson can do 1000/1000 and the Cards are good like they were in 2015, he’ll be in the MVP running.

Titans QB Marcus Mariota (+2500)

Count me on the Titans’ bandwagon this year and count me on Mariota’s, too! Did you know the third-year QB and former Heisman winner from Oregon has yet to throw a red-zone interception? That’s amazing. If the Titans can win the AFC South Division this season and Mariota has a big season, I believe he has a shot at stealing the MVP.

The Titans might have won the division last year if Mariota didn’t break his leg in Week 15. Overall, he completed 276 of 451 passes for 3,426 yards and ranked fourth in the AFC and 10th in the NFL with a 95.6 passer rating and sixth in the AFC and tied for 10th in the NFL with 26 touchdown passes. He was named first alternate for the Pro Bowl but was unable to play because of injury.

Mariota’s 16 games with at least two touchdown passes in his first two NFL seasons tied for third all-time in the NFL, equaling Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson and trailing only Dan Marino (22) and Derek Carr (17). Mariota was named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for November 2016 after completing 86 of 130 passes for 1,124 yards with 11 touchdowns and two interceptions for a 115.0 passer rating, in addition to rushing for 89 yards and a score.

Saints QB Drew Brees (+2500)

Brees is the MyBookie’s betting favorite to lead the NFL in passing, which he has done a record seven times. How has the future Hall of Fame never won an NFL MVP Award? It’s really the only thing missing from Brees’ resume. In Brees’ five years with the San Diego Chargers and eight years with the New Orleans Saints, he has been elected to nine Pro Bowls while being named 2004 Comeback Player of the Year, 2006 All-Pro Team, 2006 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year, 2008 and 2011 NFL Offensive Player of the Year.

Not much is expected from the Saints this year, so if they can steal the NFC South Division, then Brees could steal the MVP. It should be noted that the QBs of the last two South Division winners, Atlanta’s Matt Ryan and Carolina’s Cam Newton, did win the MVP.

As Brees heads into his 17th NFL season, he’s optimistic about the Saints’ prospects for this upcoming campaign. He thinks one veteran offseason pickup – running back Adrian Peterson — and a few of the younger guys give the offense an edge it might not have had in the past. The Saints have finished the regular season with a 7-9 record in each of the past three years. That has been largely the defense’s fault and that unit probably won’t be good this year, either.

Matt Ryan was a longer-shot MVP last season so it can happen. Perhaps bet one of the favorites and then hedge with some money on one of these long shots.
