Tennessee vs Houston Odds & Prediction – NFL Week 8 Picks

In Week Eight the Houston Texans (1-4-1) will play the Tennessee Titans (4-2) on Sunday at NRG Stadium. Last week the Tennessee Titans defeated the Indianapolis Colts 19-10 to win their fourth straight game vaulting them to first place in the AFC South. The Houston Texans on the other hand came out of their bye week and were thrashed by the Las Vegas Raiders 38-20. Houston has been struggling mightily losing four of their last five contests.

Overall, these teams are trending in opposite directions. With that being said, let’s take a closer look at how these two teams matchup and give you the best NFL Bets for this Sunday’s AFC South showdown.

NFL Week 8 Betting Preview for Tennessee Titans at Houston

Tennessee Titans Betting Preview: Titans planning to Collect their Fifth Straight Victory

Coming off of their bye week, the Titans defeated the Colts 19-10 in a divisional game. By no means was Tennessee’s victory pretty, but Mike Vrabel has this team clicking on all cylinders. Particularly on offense, they have found their identity again as Derrick Henry ran for 128 rushing yards against the Colts. A big question for this week’s game is quarterback Ryan Tannehill who exited the game with an ankle injury.

Fourth round pick Malik Willis will likely be in line to make his NFL debut if Tannehill is unable to play. However, Mike Vrabel will surely utilize Henry against a Houston squad that is currently allowing an NFL-high 164.7 running yards per game. Overall, the Titans offense has been in the middle of the pack in the NFL coming in at 21st averaging 19.2 points per game.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Titans are coming off arguably their best performance of the year as they registered three sacks while forcing a fumble and two interceptions including one pick-six. Tennessee will look for another strong performance from their defensive unit after holding their AFC South rival Colts to just ten points.

Houston Texans Betting Preview: Texans Look to Defend Home Turf Coming off of BYE Week

The Texans (1-4-1) did not utilize their bye week very well as they were defeated by the Raiders in Week Seven, losing 38-20 despite playing a run defense that conceded over 130 yards a game. Houston looks like they are waving the white flag this season as there have been rumors about trading some of their best players like Brandin Cooks.

Houston’s offense has been pedestrian at best this year. Despite having some developing key young players like Davis Mills and Dameon Pierce the offense has struggled to move the football effectively and consistently. The Texans enter this matchup near the bottom in total yards per game (310) and points per game (17.7).

On the defensive side of the ball the Texans come in ranked 20th in total defense and are allowing 22.8 points per game. Last week against the Raiders they surrendered a whopping 38 points and they’ll need to improve drastically if they do not want to repeat that performance.

Mike Vrabel is establishing himself as one of the truly reliable head coaches in the NFL as they rebounded from an 0-2 start to winning four straight to take over the AFC South division lead. Derrick Henry is heating up with three straight 100 yard performances and three touchdowns to go with it. Expect the Titans to continue to pound the ball and control the clock against a Houston defense that conceded an NFL leading 160.7 yards per game on the ground.

NFL Betting Pick: Tennessee Titans -2 (-110)
