It is generally considered that the winner of Wednesday’s Big 12 Tournament game between No. 9 seed Oklahoma and No. 8 TCU will be in the NCAA Tournament with no worries but that the loser might be sweating a bit on Selection Sunday. The Frogs are short favorites on the NCAAB odds.

Oklahoma vs TCU Season Series
The teams played just once during the regular season on Jan. 10 in Fort Worth with the Frogs prevailing 80-71. Emmanuel Miller had perhaps his game of the season for TCU with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Oklahoma quickly erased a six-point halftime deficit when Javian McCollum hit two 3-pointers in the first 32 seconds after the break — the tying shot coming off a TCU turnover. But the Sooners didn’t score again until almost four minutes later on Milos Uzan’s baseline drive for a reverse layup, and they trailed 49-44 then. TCU never looked back. McCollum had 17 points to lead Oklahoma. OU leads the all-time series, 28-8, but TCU has won four of the last five meetings.
Why Bet on Oklahoma Sooners?
Oklahoma (20-11, 8-10 Big 12) ended the regular season having lost five of seven following a 94-80 loss at Texas in the finale on Saturday. The game marked the final regular season matchup between the two in the Big 12 as they’re off to the Southeastern Conference next season.

The Longhorns started the second half with an 8-0 run for their first double-digit lead at 48-35. Dylan Disu and Max Abmas each made layups and Tyrese Hunter made a pair of foul shots and a mid-range jump shot in the middle of the lane within the first two minutes after halftime. UT never looked back and finished the game shooting a blistering 63.5% (33 for 52) and 95.7% (22 for 23) from the foul line.
To make matters worse for Oklahoma, Rivaldo Soares tied a career-high 21 points before leaving the game with 3:13 remaining after teammate Sam Goodwin stepped on his foot. It’s not clear yet if Soares will be able to play Wednesday. Soares is averaging a team-best 14.5 points per outing and shooting 68.4% (52-76) from the floor and 59.4% (19-32) from deep.
Jalon Moore scored 16 points and Milos Uzan 12 and reserve Le’Tre Darthard 10 for the Sooners. Point guard Javian McCollum did come back from a one-game injury absence, so that’s a positive. He definitely didn’t seem like the same McCollum that we usually see as he had just five points.
McCollum and Moore, both juniors earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention accolades after their first season with OU. McCollum averaged a team-high 13.3 points per game and shot 40.4% (132-327) from the field. He recorded 21 games with 10-plus points and led the Sooners in scoring on 11 occasions. McCollum needs 10 points to reach 1,000 NCAA DI career points. He scored 590 points in two seasons at Siena and tallied 400 points this season.
McCollum made 94.3% (82-87) of his shots from the free throw line this season, ranking first in the Big 12 and fourth in NCAA Division I. In conference action, he missed only three free throw attempts, making 95.4% (62-65) of his shots and ranking first in the league.
Moore averaged 11.0 points per outing and team highs in rebounds (6.6) and blocks (1.1) per game. He led the Sooners on the glass on 13 occasions and boasted a team-best three double-doubles, ranking third in the conference in Big 12 play.
Oklahoma is 17-4 this season when scoring 70 or more points and 16-2 when holding its opponents to 70 points or less. OU is eighth in three-point percentage defense (29.7%), 32nd in adjusted defensive efficiency (98.4) and 34th in defensive effective field goal percentage (47.3%).

Jameer Nelson Jr. hit several big 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 15 points on a season-high four threes on five attempts for TCU. Nelson is one of three players in the Big 12 that is averaging at least 10 points, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game. In the last three games, Nelson averaged 15.3 points (16-23), 4.6 assists and totaled 15 assists and four turnovers.
JaKobe Coles finished with 14 points and Miller scored 11 of his 13 in the second half. He scored in double figures for the 19th consecutive game and is the only player in the conference to score at least 10 points in every Big 12 game. Miller moved up to 17th in all-time scoring at TCU with 1,242 points. He passed Marquise Gainous. Center Ernest Udeh Jr. had a team-high nine rebounds. He missed the previous five games due to a lower left leg injury.
TCU forced UCF into 13 turnovers. The Frogs have forced their opponents into 10 or more turnovers in all but four games this season. The nation’s leader in fastbreak points, TCU finished with 15.
TCU is shooting 73.0 percent from the free throw line. The best under Jamie Dixon is 70.6 percent in 2017-18. TCU ranks fourth in the Big 12 in field goal percentage at 47.4 percent. In Big 12 games only, TCU is first in scoring offense (76.5) and 3-point percentage (38.8). Dixon has reached 20 wins in a season for the 18th time in his 21 seasons as a head coach.
TCU and Oklahoma have met in the Big 12 Tournament just once and the Frogs won 82-63 in 2017. The winner will advance to the quarterfinals and play No. 1 Houston on Thursday. The Horned Frogs beat the then No. 2 ranked Cougars earlier this season, 68-67, on Jan. 13 in Fort Worth.
TCU is 2-2 in neutral site games this season, 7-11 all-time at the Big 12 Championship and 5-7 under Dixon. TCU’s best finish was Dixon’s first season when the Horned Frogs made the semifinals as a No. 8 seed.
