Every year, we always seem to see a surprise or two in the opening week of the season.
Those surprises can get some fans overreacting, believing that the team that romped to an opening week win is going to go on a roll that takes them all the way to the Super Bowl.
My NFL Betting Analysis
Those same folk believe that the big losers in Week 1 are doomed to a nightmare season. We all tend to forget that the season is long and that one game, especially in the opening week, will not ultimately define a team.
We have a pair of teams here who are coming off impressive wins in Week 1.
The question now is whether they were as good as their performances suggested, or if the teams that they faced are just not that good.
We will get some answers on Sunday when the Saints and Cowboys hook up. The Cowboys are favored by 6 and the point total is set at 46.
^New Orleans Saints Odds +210
The Saints are the epitome of what we were talking about at the top of this piece. They dominated in Week 1, hammering the Carolina Panthers 47-10.
That result, paired with the Atlanta Falcons looking poor in a loss to the Steelers, has many believing that the NFC South is there for the taking for the Saints.
We will get a much better idea of what this team is about when they face one of the legit favorites to win the conference in 2024.
It may come as a surprise to learn that the Saints have actually been a thorn in the side of the Cowboys, winning 10 of the last 14 meetings.
They have also won 5 of their last 6 overall, also covering the spread 5 times in those games. They are 10-5 ATS in their last 15 games versus the Cowboys.
The UNDER has hit in 11 of their last 14 road games.

Dallas Cowboys Odds -265
Week 1 started with a positive for the Cowboys before they even played a single down, with QB Dak Prescott signing a new long-term deal prior to the start of their opening game of the season.
That seemed to buoy the entire squad, as Dallas looked totally dominant against the Cleveland Browns, coming away with a 33-17 win that was as dominant as the score suggests.
With that win, Dallas is now on a run that has seen them win 8 of their last 11 games overall.
They have also won 7 of their last 8 versus conference rivals, as well as winning 16 of 17 at home.
The month of September has been good for the Cowboys against the spread, covering in 5 of the last 6.
The UNDER has hit in 3 of their last 5 versus the Saints.

New Orleans Saints vs Dallas Cowboys Betting Prediction
I think we are in for a very good game here in Week 2, and while I do like Dallas to continue with their winning trend at home, I have a feeling this one might be closer than expected. I am also leaning toward the UNDER.
New Orleans Saints 20, Dallas Cowboys 24
