Betting the UEFA Champions League Odds for the Knockout Phase
We are all eagerly anticipating the draw for the knockout phase of the Champions League, but before we get to that, we still have the business of the playoff games to attend to.
For those who haven’t been watching to this point, it’s worth explaining that the format is a little different this season, with all the teams playing 8 games in a league setup.
The top 8 automatically moved on, while the next 16 went into a playoff to decide which 8 teams woold also move into the next round.
The first leg of those games has been played, so now our attention turns to the second leg.
Champions League Betting Top Games with Value this Week
Between Tuesday and Wednesday, we have a total of 8 games coming our way in the Champions League.
Some of the matchups already look to be over and done with after the first leg, but there are a few that are still hanging in the balance, so those are the ones that we are going to focus on.
So let’s pick a pair of games from each of the two days of play:
Tuesday Value Games in the Champions League
Tuesday, February 18th, 2025
We have to get the ball rolling with Milan hosting Feyenoord in the second leg of their playoff game.
I was of the belief that Milan would roll through this one, but they head home down 1-0 after losing the opening game in the Netherlands.
It is not the worst road result in the world, and you would certainly like them to come away with the win that will move them on.
Milan is favored by 1 ½ and I think that is the bet to play, as I like them to win by at least 2 goals, and perhaps more, at home.
The other Tuesday game that is well worth a wager sees Atalanta host Club Brugge, as they look to overturn a 2-1 loss to the Belgian side in the first leg.
Atalanta has gone cold of late and has just 1 win in their last 5 games, but this still feels like a matchup that is there for the taking.
I definitely like their chances to turn this thing around, so I would play them om the -1 ½ spread bet.
Team 1 | Team 2 | 1st leg | 2nd leg |
---|---|---|---|
Club Brugge | Atalanta | 2–1 | 18 Feb |
Feyenoord | Milan | 1–0 | 18 Feb |
Celtic | Bayern Munich | 1–2 | 18 Feb |
Monaco | Benfica | 0–1 | 18 Feb |
Wednesday Value Games in the Champions League
Wednesday, February 19th, 2025
We get the Wednesday matchups started with PSV Eindhoven playing at home against Juventus, who head to the Netherlands with a 2-1 lead from the first leg.
It was not the most convincing performance from the Italians, and PSV will feel that the goal they scored in Turin will have given them a lifeline.
Juventus are going to be tough to break down, and I would not be surprised to see this one end in a draw, so I am taking Juventus + ½.
The other game that is very much hanging in the balance is also easily the best matchup of the playoff round.
Real Madris, the defending champions, went on the road in the first leg and scored a couple of late goals to take a 3-2 win over Manchester City.
I imagine that this is going to be another wide-open game, as City need goals to move on, so I think the wager to play here is the OVER 3 ½ goals, although I also like Madrid to get the win at odds of -121.
Team 1 | Team 2 | 1st leg | 2nd leg |
---|---|---|---|
Brest | Paris Saint-Germain | 0–3 | 19 Feb |
Manchester City | Real Madrid | 2–3 | 19 Feb |
Juventus | PSV Eindhoven | 2–1 | 19 Feb |
Monaco | Benfica | 0–1 | 18 Feb |
Betting Champions League Props and Future Bets
While it is definitely fun to wager on the individual games each week in the Champions League, I’m sure that there are plenty of you who like to play the long game, and wager on props and futures.
After all, this is some tremendous value to be found if you can gaze into the crystal ball and come up with some winning picks.
There are three specific wagers that we like when talking about these types of wagers.
Let’s look at the odds and perhaps even make some predictions as we go.
Writer’s Picks for the UCL Props
Wagering on the Top Goalscorer in the Champions League
There is perhaps no more valuable commodity for any team than having a player that can put the ball in the back of the net on a regular basis.
We all know who the top players are in that regard, but things get a little tricky here, as we are going to see some of the current top scorers bow out and lose the chance to add to their tally.
This means that we should be focusing on players who have scored a lot, and whose team is in with a shot at a deep run.
The current top scorer odds are:
- Robert Lewandowski +255
- Harry Kane +520
- Sehrou Guirassy +520
- Erling Haaland +620
The player that I would keep an eye on is Vinicius Jr. of Real Madrid.
He is 3 goals back of Giurassy, who is the top scorer, but I like Madrid to go deep.
You can get Vini at odds of +730.
Champions League Goalscorer Pick: Vinicius Jr. +730
Wagering on the Most Assists in the Champions League
For the clinical strikers mentioned above to be able to do their thing, they need creative players who can deliver regular chances.
Assists are an important part of the game, and there are some players who are much better at it than others, but who will end the tournament with the most assists? Here are the current odds:
- Raphina +470
- Mohamed Salah +630
- Charles De Ketalaere +630
- Joshua Kimmich +730
De Ketalaere is the leader of the players mentioned above, but I am not sold on Atalanta going that much further in the tournament.
From this bunch, Salah looks like the pick for me.
Champions League Most Assists Pick: Mohamed Salah +630
The Current Odds of Winning the Champions League
Now comes the most important part of the future bets, which is deciding which team will end the season as the champions of Europe.
There are, as you would expect, some big guns still in the mix, but we are also going to lose one, as either Real Madrid or Manchester City is about to crash out much earlier than expected, so watch for their odds to change in a big way after they meet this week.
Here are the current favorites to win it all:
- Liverpool +400
- Real Madrid +500
- Arsenal +590
- Barcelona +600
If Real Madrid can take out City, they may well once again prove to be the team to beat, but I am all over Liverpool here.
They look like a team with no obvious weaknesses and are, in my opinion, the best team in Europe right now. (Check out the Key Factors to Win Champions League)
Winning Champions League Pick: Liverpool +400

Betting the 2024–25 UEFA Champions League Odds
The next 10 days or so are going to be huge for the teams that are still involved in the Champions League.
The league phase of the tournament is over, with the top 8 teams now getting a break as they wait to see who they will play in the Round of 16.
The new tournament format takes another twist, with the teams that finish 9 through 24 going into a playoff to decide the next 8 teams to move on.
These games will be played over two legs, home and away, with the aggregate winners going into the pot for the next round.
With all of that said, let’s take a look at the 8 games coming our way this week, with predictions for all.
After that, we will get into how to wager on these games, as well as the overall odds to win the Champions League.
Writer’s Picks for the Champions League Games
Betting UCL Round of 16 Games
Brest Vs PSG
Stade municipal de Roudourou, Guingamp, France
Tuesday February 11, 2025
These are a pair of teams familiar with one another given that they both play in Ligue 1 in France.
It probably comes as no surprise to learn that PSG have dominated this matchup over the years, with their last visit to Brest ending in a 5-2 win.
Besides taking PSG to win this one, I would also look at the over, as this is a matchup that always seems to deliver a lot of goals.
Game Score Prediction: Brest 1 Vs 3 PSG
UCL Pick: PSG
Juventus Vs PSV
Allianz Stadium, Torino, Italy
Tuesday February 11, 2025
We have a rematch taking place here, with these two teams meeting up in the league phase of the Champions League.
Juventus played at home in that one and cruised to a 3-1 win.
They would certainly be happy with a similar result here, and they are coming in on decent form, winning their last 2 games while outscoring the opposition 7-2.
Game Score Prediction: Juventus 2 Vs 0 PSV
UCL Pick: Juventus
Manchester City Vs Real Madrid
Etihad Stadium, Manchester, England
Tuesday February 11, 2025
This is arguably the biggest game in the playoff stage, as it was expected that both of these teams would easily be in the top 8 in the league.
Both struggled, though, with City barely scraping their way into this stage of the tournament.
City has been awful over the last couple of months, and while Madrid have been up and down, they have been better of late.
Game Score Prediction: Manchester City 1 Vs 2 Real Madrid
UCL Pick: Real Madrid
Sporting CP Vs Borussia Dortmund
Estádio José Alvalade, Lisbon, Portugal
Wednesday February 12, 2025
This is arguably one of the toughest playoff matchups to predict, as these teams strike me as being rather evenly matched.
Sporting started the tournament well, but they fell off the pace after seeing their manager leave to take over at Manchester United.
Dortmund has been unpredictable all season long and are coming off a loss over the weekend.
Game Score Prediction: Sporting CP 1 Vs 1 Borussia Dortmund
UCL Pick: Borussia
Brugge Vs Atalanta
Jan Breydelstadion, Brugge, Belgium
Tuesday February 11, 2025
This is the first ever meeting between these clubs, so it should be an interesting one to check out.
Neither team is playing particularly well right now, but Atalanta is coming off a big weekend where they racked up an impressive 5-0 road win in Serie A.
Brugge snapped a 4-game winless streak with a win over the weekend.
Game Score Prediction: Brugge 0 Vs 2 Atalanta
UCL Pick: Atalanta
Celtic Vs Bayern Munich
Celtic Park, Glasgow, Scotland
Tuesday February 11, 2025
This is a surprising matchup in a couple of different ways.
Celtic were not given much hope of progressing out of the league stage, while many believed that Bayern Munich would finish in the top 8 and get an automatic spot in the playoff round.
It is never easy to go to Glasgow and get a win, but I think that’s exactly what Bayern will do.
Game Score Prediction: Celtic 1 Vs 3 Bayern Munich
UCL Pick: Bayern Munich
Feyenoord Vs Milan
Stadion Feijenoord, Rotterdam, Netherlands
Tuesday February 11, 2025
Once again, we have another matchup between a pair of teams that have never met in the past.
Feyenoord snapped a 3-game losing skid with a win over the weekend, but their 6-1 loss to Lille in their last Champions League game cannot be ignored.
Milan has 2 wins and a draw in their last 3 games and should be high on confidence heading into this one.
Game Score Prediction: Feyenoord 0 Vs 2 Milan
UCL Pick: Milan
Monaco Vs Benfica
Stade Louis-II, Monaco, France
Tuesday February 11, 2025
These two teams do have a history against one another in European competitions, including meeting in the league phase this season.
Benfica has 3 wins and a draw against Monaco in the 4 meetings, although it has to be said that things tend to be close.
The earlier meeting in the league phase ended in a 3-2 win for Benfica.
Game Score Prediction: Monaco 1 Vs 2 Benfica
UCL Pick: Benfica
Let’s Talk About Champions League Futures
Besides the individual games in the Champions League, we also have several different futures bets that we can talk about.
Of course, the overall winner is the best that most people are probably interested in, but we will get to that, as well as the odd in that category, in a moment.
For now, we are going to look at some of the other futures that you can wager on right now, so let’s get to it.
Part of the fun of the Champions League is seeing teams from different nations go head-to-head, but which country has the best teams?
2025 Champions League Betting Odds
There are a couple of different wagers here, starting with a final that features teams from the same nation, such as:
Even if we don’t get a final that features teams from the same nation, you can still wager on which country will be the home of the eventual winner.
The UCL odds here are as follows:
Bet on the UCL Round of 16 Games
You can also do a YES or NO bet on each team reaching the Round of 16, so be sure to look at the matchups listed above as you try to figure out which 8 teams will be joining the 8 that have already clinched their spots.
Besides the team wagers, there are a couple of different individual player futures that you can get in on now, although the odds for these are not as great as they would have been had you placed these wagers at the start of the competition.
We are talking about individual goals and assists in the tournament, but while some picks seem obvious.
Keep in mind that a player at or near the top right now might be about to make an exit from the competition, which means they cannot pad those stats.
Here are the current odds for goals and assists, as well as the current number each player on the board has at this stage of the tournament:
Top Scorer Odds
Champions League Odds to Win and Prediction
It would be easy to suggest that the teams who landed in the top 8 in the league phase, getting an automatic spot in the next round in the process, would be the favorites to win this tournament.
That does seem like clear thinking, but there are some teams in the playoff stage that cannot be ignored, including the current champion, Real Madrid.
I do have a definite opinion on who I believe will hoist the iconic trophy later this year, but before I make my pick, let’s take a look at the current odds:
The interesting thing here is that 3 of the 5 teams at the top of the bookies board will be playing in the playoff, which includes two of them, City and Madrid, going head-to-head.
MyBookie’s Picks in the Next UCL Knockout Phase Play-offs
I like Real Madrid to win that contest over the 2 legs, which eliminates Manchester City.
I also don’t trust Arsenal to win a major competition, so they are out, in my humble opinion.
What I do believe is that the winner will come from that group of 5, and for me, there is a very obvious choice.
Barcelona can score a ton of goals, but they have been inconsistent on defense, which has hurt their results.
Real Madrid has also not looked anywhere near as good as the team that won it all last year, but they still have to be seen as a legitimate threat.
That leaves Liverpool, who cruised through the league phase and finished at the top.
Going out of the FA Cup over the weekend may prove to be a blessing in disguise, as it loosens their load a little.
They are a team with almost zero weaknesses, which is why I think Liverpool wins the Champions League this season.
