After a bit of a break over the holiday season, the UEFA Champions League is set to return this week, with games coming on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The main battle is for the top 8 spots in the league, as that means an automatic berth into the quarterfinal.
Champions League Matchday 7 Lines Analysis
We are getting down to the wire now, as there are just 2 games remaining in the league stage of the tournament.
If you are just wagering on the Champions League for the first time, or are just a casual observer, be aware that the top 8 teams in the 32-team league automatically move into the knockout phase, while teams 9 through 24 go into a playoff for the other 8 spots.
The teams below the #24 spot will be knocked out. With all that said, let’s take a look at the best games coming our way this week, as well as some potential prop and future bets you can play now.
Monaco +150 vs Aston Villa +166 (Draw +240)
When: Tuesday, January 21, 11:45 AM
Where: Stade Louis-II, Monaco, France
Champions League Prediction: Monaco 0-1 Aston Villa
After making a decent start to the league phase, Monaco is on the slide after losing each of their last 2 games. That run leaves them in 16th place on 10 points, which means they are just 2 points clear of the cut line, so they could really use a win.
You always expect the teams from the English Premier League to do well, but Aston Villa, who are currently 5th, are perhaps exceeding expectations. They have taken 10 points from their last 5 games and know that a win here will probably guarantee them a spot in the top 10. I think we get a tight one here, and I like Villa to edge it.
^Atlético Madrid +140 vs Leverkusen +185 (Draw +230)
When: Tuesday, January 21, 2:00 PM
Where: Riyadh Air Metropolitano, Madrid, Spain
Champions League Prediction: Atlético Madrid 1-1 Leverkusen
As it stands right now, both of these teams have a shot at finishing in the top 8, but that dream might come to an end for the team that comes out on the losing end of this one. Madrid suffered a bit of a bumpy patch with back-to-back losses in this tournament, but they have bounced back nicely to win 3 in a row.
They are in 11th place on 12 points and could potentially crack the top 8 with a win. They would certainly leapfrog Leverkusen, who are in 3rd place on 13 points. The German champions have won 2 in a row, but this is a tough road trip. I think we might be looking at a draw here.

Liverpool -350 vs Lille +800 (Draw +450)
When: Tuesday, January 21, 2:00 PM
Where: Anfield, Liverpool, England
Champions League Prediction: Liverpool 2-0 Lille
It is turning out to be a fantastic season for Liverpool under new head coach Arne Slot, as they are sitting atop the EPL and Champions League tables. It is a tremendous achievement, but they will also be the first to admit that the job is only halfway done. Liverpool has a perfect 6-0 record in this competition and have surrendered just 1 goal in 6 games.
A trip to Anfield is going to be a tough one for Lille, but they have been very good in the Champions League and are clinging to the #8 seed, although I am not so sure if they can hold on to that spot this week, as they look to be up against it here.
^Feyenoord +530 vs Bayern Munich -244 (Draw +390)
When: Wednesday, January 22, 2:00 PM
Where: Stadion Feijenoord, Rotterdam, Netherlands
Champions League Prediction: Feyenoord 1-3 Bayern Munich
Heading into the tournament, there were a few teams that we all expected to move on to the knockout round, but I think it’s fair to suggest that Feyenoord were not in that group. With 3 wins in their last 5 games, the Dutch side is staying alive and in the hunt for one of the playoff spots, and while home field may help them here, will it be enough to get them past a very strong Bayern Munich team?
The Germans have emerged from a rough patch that saw them lose to Aston Villa and Barcelona to win 3 in a row ahead of this one. Going on the road in Europe is never easy, but Bayern is more than good enough to handle this one.
^PSG +145 vs Manchester City +160 (Draw +260)
When: Wednesday, January 22, 2:00 PM
Where: Parc des Princes, Paris, France
Champions League Prediction: PSG 1-2 Manchester City
When you lose the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mpabbe over the course of a couple of seasons, the expectation is that a backward step is coming. That has been the case for PSG, who are sitting one spot below the playoff line and in dire need of a win. They helped their cause with a 3-0 win over Salzburg last time out, but this is a much tougher task, albeit against a Manchester City team that is struggling right now.
The good news for City fans is that they looked to be at their best over the weekend, beating Ipswich 6-0, but that is a victory that will do little to paper over the cracks that have emerged over the past couple of months. Still, City should be good enough to get the win here.
^Future Bets and Props
Besides the individual games, there are a ton of props and future bets that you can get in on right now. The most obvious is picking the eventual champion, with Liverpool (+410) and Arsenal (+600) currently sitting on top of the bookies board. Can they live up to that hype, or will someone come off the pace?
With that in mind, you can also wager on an all-English final, as well as a final that features a pair of teams from Germany, Spain, or Italy. This is definitely a fun one, and looking at how things stand now, an all-Premier League final might not be a bad pick.
Besides team wagers, you can also get in on individual player stats, such as goals and assists. In terms of scoring, Rober Lewandowski (+210) is the favorite to be the top scorer, as he leads the way with 7 goals, but Erling Haaland (+360) and Harry Kane (+510) are also in the mix.
Finally, you can also wager on which player will lead the competition in assists. This one looks wide open at the moment, but Mo Salah (+530) is the current favorite. For these individual stats, think about teams that score a lot and that might go deep in the tournament.
