That is what we are going to try and figure out here, so we are going to take a look at the current state of all 8 games in this round, while also predicting who will move on, so let’s get to it.

If you don’t have a dog in the fight in this tournament, you are in for a treat, as the majority of the games are still very much hanging in the balance.

You can argue that the teams playing at home in Leg 2 have the edge, but many of these ties seem very evenly matched. Let’s see if we can break them down and make some winning predictions:

Columbus Crew -112 vs LAFC +275 (Draw +275)

I’ll be the first to admit that the result in Leg 1 was a major surprise. It was not totally shocking to see LAFC win at home but seeing them pick up a 3-0 win was certainly not expected. Columbus has the talent to have a go in their home leg, but you have to believe that the damage has already been done, so we have to go with LAFC to move on.

Cruz Azul -218 vs Seattle Sounders +580 (Draw +340)

LAFC is the perfect example of what the team playing at home in Leg 1 hopes to achieve. With that in mind, Seattle is sure to be more than a little upset at seeing their home game against Cruz Azul ending in a scoreless draw. Mexican teams have always had the edge in this tournament, so I expect the home team to get the job done on Tuesday night.

Tigres -176 vs Cincinnati +460 (Draw +310)

More often than not, 2-leg matchups are not decided in the opening leg, which is certainly the case with this one. Tigres went on the road in Leg 1, picking up a very valuable 1-1 draw, which you have to say gives them the edge heading back home. I think we are looking at another tight game here, but I also believe that Cruz Azul will do just enough to move into the final 8.

Monterrey -151 vs Vancouver Whitecaps +380 (Draw +300)

This matchup follows a common of them found with the others in that neither team really got a serious edge in Leg 1. The slight advantage goes to Monterrey after heading to Canada and coming away with a 1-1 draw. They are certainly going to fancy their chances at home in the return leg, but again, I think it will be close.

America -134 vs Chivas +360 (Draw +270)

Given that America has won the Liga MX championship for 3 straight seasons, it was perhaps something of a surprise to see them lose 1-0 in the opening leg on the road to Chivas. That said, this is a team that is very much battle tested. Especially in knockout situations, so I would not be surprised to see them turn this one around in their own building.

LA Galaxy -218 vs Club Sport Herediano +590 (Draw +340)

When playing at home in the first leg of a 2-leg affair, the hosts always look to come away with some sort of lead. Herediano managed that, beating the Galaxy 1-0 in the first leg. The question now, though, is whether that is enough. I’m not so sure that it is, which is why I think the Galaxy will be able to turn this one around.

Cavalier +1050 vs Inter Miami -469 (Draw +530)

Even with a win in the opening leg, there is no guarantee that it will be enough to move on. In the case of this one, though, I think the opposite might be true. Messi and company picked up a comfortable 2-0 win in the first leg and should be more than good enough to go on the road and get the result that moves them on. ^

Alajuelense +218 vs Pumas +114 (Draw +248)

This is another matchup that appears to be heading in a definite direction. Pumas took advantage of their home field advantage in the opening leg, walking away with a 2-0 that was as comfortable as the score suggests. It’s never easy to go on the road and close things out in hostile territory, but I think Pumas is up to the task.

Who Will End Up Winning the CONCACAF Champions Cup?

This is a little tougher to predict, especially when you consider that many of the Round of 16 matchups are still essentially hanging in the balance. We have made our predictions, though, so we are going to try and answer the championship question by using the picks we have already made, while also looking at both sides of the CONCACAF Champions Cup bracket.

On one side of the bracket, you have Inter Miami suddenly looking like the favorite, especially with Columbus on the brink of going out. On the other side, America is looming large, although they do have to come from behind to move on. These two look to be on a collision course, but I am still sticking with America to win It all.
