Games For Thursday: We are halfway through the second set of group games and are coming off our first major shock of the tournament.

Last night, Mexico went into their second game as the favorite to beat Venezuela but ended up coming away with a 1-0 loss.

My Analysis

They are now in real danger of going out of the tournament, but that is a conversation for another day. For now, we have to focus on the Thursday games, which means talking about what is going on in Group C.

This is the group that is home to the host nation, United States, who can clinch a spot in the next round with a win this evening. The same rules apply for Uruguay, who will also be in action this evening.

Panama +720 vs United States -260

This is a must win game for Panama, who are coming off a loss to Uruguay in their opening Copa America game. They lost 3-1 in that one and could be in a similar type of situation tonight against the hosts.

Panama did not look particularly good in that opening game against Uruguay and will be hard-pressed to get anything out of this one, although they have gone 1-1-1 in their last 3 meetings with the United States.

There was a little bit of pressure in the US heading into their opening game of this tournament, but they handled it well, coming away with a 2-0 win over Bolivia.

The feeling was that the US would go as far as Christian Pulisic would carry them, and he is holding up his end of the bargain, nabbing a goal in the win over Bolivia.

That win will certainly have helped ease some of the pressure on the US, who were not in great form coming into the tournament.

The United States will book their place in the next round with a win in this one and will once again be leaning heavily on Pulisic. I think they get the job done comfortably.

The consensus was that the United States and Uruguay would have no problem getting out of this group. To this point, things are certainly playing out that way.

Uruguay were made to work a little in their opener against Panama, scoring a pair of late goals to get a 3-1 win, which was certainly not flattering to them. They will want to come out strong again this evening and hopefully get out to a fast start.

Much like Panama, Bolivia needs to get something out of this game if their final match in the group stage is to mean anything at all.

The problem that Bolivia has is that they put themselves in trouble right away, surrendering a goal in under 5 minutes in each of their last 2 games.

If they surrender another early one to Uruguay, they could be in for a very long night. They have just 1 win in their last 5 games overall.

The last thing Uruguay needs is to go into the final game against the US needing to get a win, so they will come out quick and try to get this one put away ASAP.
