Liga MX Quarterfinals Odds, Top games with Picks & Analysis for the Apertura 2024

The first championship game of the Mexican football season is getting a little closer.

We are done with the two play-in games, which means that the quarterfinal games are next up.

Liga MX Betting Analysis

The games will be played over two legs, with Leg 1 set to go on Wednesday and Thursday, with 2 games on each day.

The champions, America, are still alive, but can they continue their march toward a 3rd straight championship, or will we see someone new end this portion of the proceedings as the Apertura 2024 champions?

All we can do right now is look at the upcoming matchups, so let’s get right to it.

America +103 vs Toluca +255

When: Wednesday, November 27, 2024, 8:00 PM
Where: Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes, Mexico City, Mexico

As mentioned at the top of this piece, America are looking for their 3rd straight championship, and while that might be enough to have some people take them to win, they have had to take a tougher path this rime around. America needed to go into the play-in, which they got through by knocking off Tijuana on penalties after a 2-2 draw. Toluca finished 2nd in the league in the regular season and closed things out with a 4-0 win over America at home.

Over their last 4 meetings, though, these teams have each won a game and tied twice, with their goals scored evenly knotted at 8-8. A bit of a coin flip here, but I am going to take America over the 2 legs.

Tijuana +290 vs Cruz Azul -104

When: Wednesday, November 27, 2024, 10:10 PM
Where: Estadio Caliente, Tijuana, Mexico

We did pretty well with our predictions for the play-in, especially with Tijuana, who lost to America before winning their second chance game with a 3-0 victory over Atlas. Tijuana will now open at home for the first leg against the team that finished top of the Liga MX in the regular season.

While Tijuana had to fight to stay alive in the race for the Apertura title, Cruz Azul has been on cruise control, going unbeaten through their final 5 games of the season. They have been dominant all season long, and you have to like their chances of winning and moving on.

San Luis +224 vs Tigres +115

When: Thursday, November 28, 2024, 8:00 PM
Where: Estadio Alfonso Lastras Ramírez, San Luis Potosi, Mexico

At the end of the 17 games played in the regular season, there were only 4 points separating these two teams, which is more than enough to suggest that this matchup might be close. Things become a little more predictable, though, when you look at the head-to-head meetings between these two teams. San Luis has only beaten Tigres twice in the last 21 meetings, drawing 7 and losing the other 12.

You need to go back to 2018 to find the last time San Luis picked up a wain over their opponent here, all of which makes Tigres an easy pick to move on to the semi-final.

Monterrey +113 vs Pumas +255

When: Thursday, November 28, 2024, 10:10 PM
Where: Estadio BBVA, Guadalupe, Mexico

This is easily the toughest of the 4 matchups to predict, especially when you look at how they both finished the regular season. They both finished the season with 31 points, with Pumas taking the 4th place spot thanks to a marginally better goal difference.

In short, there was basically nothing separating them after 17 regular season games, plus both of their previous meetings ended in a draw. This feels like every bit of a coin flip, but I am leaning toward Monterrey to edge it and move on.
