UEFA Nations League Matchday 2: Top Games to Bet on and Pick

We have a great few days coming up for soccer fans, with the latest version of the UEFA Nations League set to begin in earnest.

Matchday 1 begins on Thursday and runs through Saturday, with all 4 leagues getting underway.

My Analysis

There is little time to rest, though, as Matchday 2 will commence on Sunday afternoon.

Keep in mind that there is promotion and relegation at stake in these leagues, while League A will eventually crown a winner of the tournament, so it’s all to play for.

Let’s look at the League A games on Matchday 2.

Croatia vs Poland

Sunday, Sept 8 | These two teams have not met for quite some time, but their last 3 meetings have delivered just 2 total goals/ Keep an eye on the total for this game, and if it is set at 2 ½, play the UNDER.

I also like Croatia to edge this one at home.

Portugal vs Scotland

Sunday, Sept 8 | This is the first time in League A for Scotland, who are coming off a disastrous showing at the European Championship.

They are tough to beat at home, but Portugal should be able to win this one rather comfortably.

Denmark vs Serbia

Sunday, Sept 8 | Denmark has won 3 of the last 4 meetings with Serbia, with their most recent meeting coming just a few short months ago at the Euros, with that one ending 0-0.

I don’t expect a ton of goals here, either, although I do like Denmark to take it at home.

Switzerland vs Spain

Sunday, Sept 8 | This is going to be a tricky one for the European Champions, especially when you consider that the Swiss went on a nice little run at the Euros.

These two teams have met before in the Nations League, splitting a pair of games back in 2022. The road team won each of those games, so let’s stick with that trend for this one.

Monday, Sept 9 | France vs Belgium

We have another matchup between a pair of teams that met at the Euros, with France winning that one by a score of 1-0.

The French have now won each of their last 3 games against Belgium, and they are sure to have the advantage at home in this one, but I think we get a tie.

Israel vs Italy

Monday, Sept 9 | Another team moving into the top league is Israel, and they will get a stern test at home against Italy, a team looking to rebound after a poor showing at the Euros.

There is not much to go on in terms of past history with these teams, as they rarely meet, but I am leaning toward Italy.

Hungary vs Bosnia

Tuesday, Sept 10 | You need to go back to 2007 to find the last time these teams met, and it was Hungary that won twice in qualifying for the European Championship.

Bosnia has been poor of late and comes into this one on a losing skid that I believe will continue here.

Netherlands vs Germany

Tuesday, Sept 10 | League A action in Matchday 2 comes to a close with one of the great matchups in international football.

This is one that tends to deliver a lot of offense, with 20 goals scored in their last 5 meetings. With that in mind, I think the OVER is the way to go.
