2022 UEFA Soccer Summer Transfer Window
- When: June 10 – September 1
Haaland makes Man City the Champions League and Premier League team to beat
The biggest prize this transfer window has a new team. Norwegian super star and former Dortmund player Erling Haaland is a Citizen.
Haaland signed a deal to play with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. Rumors swirled that Bayern, Real, Liverpool, and Man United were looking to transfer one of the world’s best strikers.
The Sky Blues won the bid. Haaland immediately makes Man City the favorite to win both the Premier and the Champions League. Pep should get the most possible from Haaland and the fact Kevin De Bruyne remains on the team means City should lose few matches this season.
Aston Villa welcomes Coutinho and Pogba returns to Juve
Former Barcelona player Phillippe Coutinho has transferred to Aston Villa. Coutinho started 16 matches for Barca last season, scoring 5 goals and passing for 3 assists.
Coutinho will help Aston for sure. He won’t help them enough for Aston to beat Man City, Liverpool, or Chelsea, but he will help enough for AV to challenge United, Tottenham, and Arsenal.
After Man United failed to extend his contract, Paul Pogba decided to go back to Juventus. Pogba is one of the better defensive midfielders in soccer.
No doubt, he will help Juventus challenge AC Milan and Inter Milano for the Serie A title.
Barcelona is the team that many believe lands Lewandowski
Lewandowski wants out of Bayern. The team most likely to secure the Bundesliga’s top goal scorer in a season record holder is Barcelona.
If Barca can figure out the math, Lewandowski should end up at Camp Nou. Landing Robert Lewandowski would be a huge get for Barca.
Last transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain attracted Lionel Messi. Since then, Barca hasn’t had a true striker.
Lewandowski isn’t just a true striker, he’s a legend. Pairing Lewandowski with Memphis Depay could go a long way in helping Barcelona challenge rival Real for LaLiga supremacy.
Kounde on the verge of signing with Barca
Top Sevilla defender Jules Kounde is likely to turn his back on the advances from Premier League teams and instead sign with Barcelona. If Barca can figure things out, Kounde will be at Camp Nou starting on July 1.
Transferring Kounde might affect Barcelona’s chances of transferring Lewandowski. There’s a lot that could happen if Kounde decides to play at Camp Nou.
Lewandowski and his people may have to go to Plan B.
Mane to Real may be more than a rumor
Two weeks ago, the rumor was that Liverpool player Sadio Mane would end up in a Bayern Munich kit. Bayern knows Lewandowski wants out.
So Bayern may try to go for Mane to replace Lewandowski. However, Mane is one of the best players in the world. So there are few teams that don’t want his services, including Real Madrid.
Real planned on attracting Kylian Mbappe. Now that Mbappe has re-signed with PSG, Real is looking for a player to pair with the fantastic Kareem Benzema.
Mane might be that player. Keep an eye on Lewandowski’s situation. If Bayern moves Lewandowski, a bidding war for Sadio’s services could develop.
