My MLS Open Cup Final Betting Analysis
This year, it was LAFC who got the luck of the draw and who will play at home in the final game against Sporting Kansas City.
Whether that proves to be an advantage remains to be seen, as LAFC has not been particularly good of late, which is something that we will get into in a moment.
Despite their form, LAFC is the favorite for the final, favored by 1 ½, with the goal total set at 2 ½.

This is a tournament that not all MLS teams take particularly seriously, although that tends to change once they get closer to the final and see that there is an opportunity to pick up some silverware.
LAFC started their journey with a comfortable 3-0 win over Loudon United, which was totally expected. They then had to face another USL team in New Mexico United, who they despised of handily with a 3-1 win.
Their first game against a fellow MLS team came in the semi-final, with LAFC grinding out a 1-0 win to make it to the final.
That’s the good news, but the bad is that they have not been playing well of late and are winless in 5 games, picking up just 2 points in that run.
LAFC has been outscored 10-4 during that 5-game run, so while they are at home here, there has to be some real concern about their current form.

Sporting KC started their run to the Open Cup Final with a convincing 4-0 win over Tulsa, although they did play half of that game with a man advantage after Tulsa had a player sent off.
The next round was a good deal tougher, as they were drawn against Dallas. That game required extra time, and it was KC who ended up coming away with a 2-1 victory.
The semi-final saw them go against the Indy Eleven, who were certainly a surprise semi-finalist, but KC scored twice in the opening half hour to cruise to a comfortable 2-0 win.
Sporting KC is 2-2-1 over their last 5 games, but they are also winless in their last 5 games played on the road, which is probably just one of the reasons why they are in as the underdog for this one.

It is LAFC who have the best of their matchups with KC, albeit not by much, holding a 6-4-2 record against their opponents tonight.
I’s worth noting that the last 2 meetings in LA have ended in a draw, so might we see extra time in the final?
