David Goffin got past both Bradley Kahn and Jeremy Chardy in the first couple of rounds as if they were standing still. He beat Kahn and Chardy in straight sets. Things got demonstrably tougher in Round 3. 11-seed Daniil Medvedev pushed Goffin to 5 sets. Then in Round 4, un-seeded Fernando Verasco pushed Goffin to 5 sets again.

The 1-seed at Wimbledon, Novak Djokovic, has played like it. Hubert Hurkacz pushed Novak to 5 sets in Round 3, but the world’s number one bounced back with a stunning performance over Hugo Humbert. Djokovic easily takes this.

Although Pella has played well, Roberto Bautista Agut deserves to be favored here. The twenty-second ranked player on the ATP Tour handled 10-seed Karen Khachanov in Round 3 and Benoit Paire in Round 4. Even though Bautista Agut deserve favoritism, Pella offers overlay odds. Guido can upset Roberto in this match.

Sam Querrey vs Rafael Nadal

Of the Big 3, Rafael Nadal is the most vulnerable to lose in the quarterfinals. Rafa, the King of Clay, battles a strong grass player in Sam Querrey on Wednesday. Querrey needed 4 sets to beat Tennys Sandgren in the fourth round. Of those 4 sets, Sam had to play two tie-breaker sets.

Make no mistake, Nadal should beat Sam Querrey on July 10. The odds on Querrey make him an overlay, though. The dog is worth backing just in case Rafa takes a backward step on a surface he most definitely does not favor.

Kei Nishikori vs Roger Federer

2019 Wimbledon Odds: Kei Nishikori +518 / Roger Federer -999

There’s some reason to believe Federer loses on Wednesday. He lost to Kevin Anderson in the quarterfinals last year at Wimbledon. He faces a player in Kei Nishikori who is 4-0 on grass this year and has looked great in the first four rounds.

But, Federer is 32-4 in singles matches in 2019. He’s also won 3 titles. Federer has won 7-of-3 versus Nishikori in the head-to-head matchups. It’s hard to go against Federer here. Still, Nishikori’s odds are much too attractive. He can upset Federer and is worth a look at +518.

Over in the women’s tournament at 2018 Wimbledon, surprise results have been the order of the day. While there have certainly been some upsets on the men’s side, things have mostly gone true to form, to the point where the #1 and #2 seed are still alive and well and heading into the quarter-finals. The men get Tuesday off to recover after what was a will “Manic Monday,” but the Tennis Betting action will return on Wednesday with 4 big matches set to go. We are going to take a closer look at all the quarter-final games, making some predictions as we go, so let’s get right to it.

Top Half of the Men’s Draw at Wimbledon

The seemingly ageless Roger Federer is the defending champion at Wimbledon and is once again making a triumphant march to the final. His opponent in the quarter-finals will be South African Kevin Anderson, who came into this event as the #8 seed. While Federer has cruised through the opening rounds here at Wimbledon, Anderson has had some real scraps, not the least of which was his 4-set win over Gael Monfils in the previous round, a match which featured 3 tie-break sets. Anderson is probably happy for the day off, but will it do him any good? Federer has won all 4 previous meetings, and while this will be their first meeting on grass, the result should be the same.

The winner of the Federer/Anderson match will square off against either Milos Raonic or John Isner in the semi-final. These two are quite familiar with one another having previously met 4 times in the past, splitting those games evenly. This one is a little tougher to handicap given that this will be their first meeting on grass, but I think the slight edge goes to Raonic here, simply because he reached a final on grass earlier this season in Stuttgart .

Bottom Half of the Men’s Draw at Wimbledon

We have all been waiting for previous ATP No. 1 Novak Djokovic to return to form after injury, and it appears it may finally have happened. His opponent in the quarter-finals will be Kei Nikishori, a man he has faced 15 times over his career. What is a little odd, though, is that this will be their first ever meeting on grass. Djokovic holds a 13-2 edge in those previous meetings, but it will certainly be interesting to see if he can carry that supremacy over to the grass court. You have to think that he will, given his previous performances at Wimbledon, which is why I like him to move on.

The other quarter-final in the bottom half looks like a great one, with #2 seed Rafael Nadal going against #5 seed Juan Martin Del Potro. These two have had some great battles over the years, with Nadal holding a 9-5 edge in wins in previous meetings. The deciding factor in this one may be the fact that Nadal has been perfect against Del Potro when playing on grass, winning both of their previous meetings on the surface .

No. 1 Andy Murray vs. No. 24 Sam Querrey

When: July 12th, 2017. 4:30am CT
Tennis Odds: Murray -6EV, O 36½ -110 / Querrey +6-120, U 36½ -110

The defending champion Murray is the -600 favorite against the last remaining American man in the field. Murray reached his 10th consecutive Wimbledon quarterfinal on Monday, beating Frenchman Benoit Paire 7-6 (1), 6-4, 6-4 on Centre Court.

Murray becomes only the third man in the Open Era to advance to 10 straight quarter-finals at the same Grand Slam. The top seed has now reached at least the quarter-finals at 24 of his past 26 Grand Slam tournaments. The only times he’s fallen short were the 2017 Australian Open (l. to Mischa Zverev) and the 2015 US Open (l. to Kevin Anderson).

Murray has never lost to a player ranked as low as Paire – No. 46 – at Wimbledon. Nor had he lost to a Frenchman at any Slam in the past nine years, and Paire was attempting to beat a top 20 player on grass for the first time.

How Well is Querrey Doing?

Querrey beat South African Kevin Anderson in five sets to set up his showdown with Murray. Querrey, 28th in the world, defeated unseeded Anderson 5-7 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 6-7 (11-13) 6-3 in a match that lasted three hours seven minutes on court 18.

In 2016, Querrey beat Djokovic at Wimbledon before losing to Milos Raonic in the quarterfinals. Murray has won seven of eight matches he has played against Querrey .

No. 7 Marin Cilic vs. No. 16 Giles Muller

Cilic is a -500 favorite with Muller at +375. Through to the Wimbledon quarterfinals for the fourth straight year, Cilic has yet to drop a set in four completed matches. The seventh-seeded Croatian dominated Spanish No. 18 seed Roberto Bautista Agut 6-2, 6-2, 6-2 on Monday, breaking serve seven times.

Cilic was almost perfect on serve in the third set, but lost three straight points at 5-2, 40/0 as he closed on his 25th match win at the All England Club. Cilic capitalized on the second serve of Bautista Agut (winning 12 of 15 return points) and 15 of 18 points at the net for victory in one hour and 41 minutes. The 28-year- old Cilic has a 10-2 record on grass courts in recent weeks (27-13 overall for 2017).

What About Muller?

Muller stunned Rafael Nadal on Monday 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 15-13 to advance to a Grand Slam quarterfinal for the second time in his career and the first time since the 2008 US Open.

Nadal, the reigning French Open champion, has not been to the Wimbledon quarterfinals since 2011. He missed this Grand Slam last year because of a wrist injury. The match lasted 4 hours, 48 minutes .

No. 6 Milos Raonic vs. No. 3 Roger Federer

Federer, looking for a record eighth Wimbledon title, is the -410 favorite. The seven-time champion extended his dominance against Grigor Dimitrov, beating Dimitrov 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 to move into his 15th Wimbledon quarterfinal. Federer now stands alone atop the Open Era list for most Wimbledon quarter- final appearances.

The 35-year- old advances to his 50th Grand Slam quarterfinal, another best in the Open Era. Federer is now 6-0 against Dimitrov in their FedEx ATP Head2Head series. The Swiss right- hander has won all but two of the 16 sets they’ve played since their first meeting at 2013 Swiss Indoors Basel.

Is Raonic a Threat to Federer?

Raonic, from Canada, is through to the quarterfinals after posting a 4-6, 7-5, 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 win over Germany’s Alexander Zverev on Monday. World No. 12 Zverev was trying to reach the last eight of a Grand Slam for the first time, but that will not come at the All England Club.

Federer is 9-3 all-time vs. Raonic. The last played at Wimbledon last year in the semis and Raonic pulled the upset.

No. 11 Tomas Berdych vs. No. 2 Novak Djokovic

Djokovic is a -500 favorite. Berdych, the 31-year-old No. 11 seed, recorded his second Top 10 match win of the year (Milos Raonic in Lyon) to knock out eighth-seeded Austrian Dominic Thiem 6-3, 6-7(1), 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in two hours and 53 minutes on Monday.

Now 41-13 at Wimbledon, Berdych will be hoping to equal last year’s semi-final run (lost to Murray). Djokovic has had a disappointing season but won the grass-court warm-up tournament to Wimbledon and cruised past France’s Adrian Mannarino, 6-2, 7-6 (5), 6-4 in two hours and 16 minutes.

In the third set, Djokovic had on-court treatment for a right upper arm and shoulder complaint, but resumed play to reach his 39th major championship quarter-final. Djokovic is 25-2 in his career against Berdych .

With Nadal out of the picture, it looks like we could see a surprise, but then again, having titans like Murray, Federer and Djokovic, who knows what we could expect this year. To sum it up, I’m going chalk: Murray will face Cilic in one semifinal and Federer will get Djokovic in the other. The men’s final is Sunday.
