Analysis: Circle July 9. That’s when the favorites to win Group C throw down. Heading into the match, the Netherlands has won 4-of-5.

The lone loss happened versus second-choice England. In their last, the Netherlands beat Finland 2-0. In the match before last, a FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifying match, the Netherlands bested Belarus 3-0.

Sweden has also won 4-of-5. Unlike the Netherlands, Sweden’s non-win wasn’t a loss. It was a draw. Ireland forced a 1-1 draw.

The Swedes are playing well enough to win this group. But the Netherlands has had success against better soccer teams. Beating Finland, a EURO England 2022 participant, 2-0 on July 2 impresses. The Netherlands gets the nod.

England has won 5 straight. Not only has England won 5 straight, but they’ve dominated. The English have outscored their last five opponents, North Macedonia, Northern Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Switzerland, a combined 27 goals to 1.

In their last match on July 1, England beat Switzerland 4-0. In a friendly versus the Netherlands on June 24, the English dusted the Dutch 5-1.

So not only do matches happen on their pitch, but England heads into the tournament the best team. The English should win it all.
