Truck, Xifnity, Cup Series, and MotoGP to Start Betting Motor Sports

The year is moving quickly already, as we are into spring now and seeing some of the major sports leagues reaching the end of their season. While some sports are almost done for the season, we are still getting started with the action on the track. All these major racing organizations are now underway, but they are all still very early in their new season, which means there is a lot of racing opportunities to start betting Motor Sports.

As we do every week, we are going to talk about the upcoming races, as well as taking a look at how things are going and how to wager on all the big races coming our way. Without further ado, let’s start with how each of the big 5 motor sports organizations are looking right now.

Start Betting Motor Sports: The Current State of Affairs in The Major Racing Organizations

Even though it is still early in the season across the board, we are now starting to see the championship races in each of the motor sports take shape. Let’s do a quick recap of how things have gone to this point and what we can look forward to this weekend.

Formula 1

We are a couple of races into the season, and while it is certainly still early, there looks to be a chance that we might see a shift in power this season. We have had 2 different race winners to start the season, but it is McLaren Mercedes that is leading the way, as both of their drivers have picked up the wins. There is no race this weekend, but F1 will be back next week.

IndyCar

Over the last few years, we have seen Àlex Palou emerge as the man to beat in IndyCar, and he is once again out to another fantastic start, winning both races thus far to take a solid lead at the top of the driver standings. There is, of course, a lot of racing still to come and time for things to change at the top. We will need to wait another couple of weeks for the next race on the schedule.

MotoGP

This is a sport that is certainly more popular outside of North America, but the racers will be landing on American soil this weekend for the next race on the schedule. It is Marc Marquez, a multiple championship winner, who is out to a strong start this season and looking like the man to catch, but can he keep it going in the States this weekend?

WRC

Last weekend saw the 3rd race of the WRC season take place in Kenya, with Elfyn Evans picking up his 2nd straight win of the year. We now have a bit of a break before we get to the next rally, which will take place in the Canary Islands on the weekend of April 24-27.

NASCAR

If there is one thing that we can rely on in the world of motor sports, it’s that NASCAR will have at least one race going each weekend for the duration of their season. We have a full slate of racing coming this weekend, with all 3 series in action in Martinsville.

Now that we have a handle on the current state of motor sports across the world, let’s talk about how to wager on the upcoming races.

Getting Started with Wagering on Motor Sports

Generally speaking, there isn’t a lot of difference between betting on motor sports and all the other sports that are available to you. One thing that is a little different is that there are other options available than just picking a race winner, so let’s take a quick look at the options available to you:

The Betting Options for Individual Races

There are so many factors that go into winning a race that betting on one driver to win is incredibly tough. The good news is that there are other options, such as picking drivers to finish in the top 5 or top 10 in any given race. In some cases, races are run in heats or legs, so you may also have the opportunity to wager on those, as well as potential head-to-head matchups between a pair of different drivers. In short, there are ways to hedge your bets without going all in on a single winner.

Wagering on the Driver and Constructor Championship

Besides betting on individual races each week, you can also look at the big picture and get in on some future bets. The most obvious of those is wagering on the driver that will win the championship. You don’t have to place that wager at the start of the season, but keep in mind that the odds will change from week to week, so be sure to strike when you believe that the odds are in your favor. Another popular future wager in motor sports is picking which team, or constructor, will have the most wins or points over the course of the season.

If you are new to wagering on motor sports, I would suggest checking out the official websites of each organization, as you can get a ton of details there that will help you make more informed wagers on every race.

Picks for the Motor Sports Weekend Races

It’s certainly not the busiest week of the motor sports season, but we do still have 4 big races coming our way, so let’s take a closer look at them all to see if we can identify some potential winning wagers:

NASCAR Truck Series Boys and Girls Club of the Blue Ridge 200

The weekend in NASCAR beings on Friday night, with the next race on the Truck Series schedule. Let’s take a look at a few of the drivers that are likely to be in the hunt to take the checkered flag:

William Byron

According to the entry list for this race, it seems that Byron is dropping in from the Cup Series to race here. In my mind, that immediately makes him the favorite to win.

Corey Heim

With a pair of wins through the opening 4 races of the season, Heim has been flexing his muscles and has to be seen as a legitimate threat here. I would play him to definitely finish in the top 5.

Ty Majeski

While he is still looking for his first win of the season, Majeski has cracked the top 10 in 3 of the 4 races. This is a track that he really seems to like, though, so I would take him to finish in the top 5.

NASCAR Xfinity Series Marine Corps 250

This race is set to go on Saturday afternoon at 5 PM EST, and I think it’s fair to say that we have some definite favorites in this one:

Aric Almirola (+250)

When you have a Cup Series driver dropping in, the odds are affected across the board. Almirola has raced at this level 3 times this season and has been on the podium each time.

Justin Allgaier (+400)

If you like to bet on the driver with the hot hand, then you have to consider Truck Series champion Justin Allgaier this weekend, as he has won the last 2 races.

Sam Mayer (+600)

Mayer has not won a race this season, but he has been on the podium in 3 of the 5 races to this point. He seems to like this track, too, so another podium finish looks likely.

NASCAR Cup Series Cook Out 400

This is the 7th race of the season, and we have a close battle going at the top of the driver standings. Here are the favorites for the Sunday race:

Ryan Blaney (+450)

The last couple of races have not gone that well for Blaney, plus he has been just okay on this track. If I was going to wager on him, it would be for a top 10 finish.

Kyle Larson (+540)

Last weekend was a big one for Larson, as he took part in all 3 races, winning 2 of them. Given that he has won and finished 2nd in his last 3 runs here, I think he could win again.

Denny Hamlin (+700)

It has been an up and down season for Hamlin to this point, which is why I am not convinced he will be a major factor this weekend. I might be willing to play him to finish in the top 10.

MotoGP Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas

A rare visit to the United States will provide a rare treat for fans of MotoGP. But who will come out on top:

Marc Marquez

A true legend of the sport, Marquez has seen his career derailed by injury over the last couple of seasons, but with wins in each of the first 2 races of 2025, he looks to be back to his best.

Francesco Bagnaia

After winning a pair of championships and finishing 2nd overall last year, Bagnaia is always a decent bet. I would certainly be looking at him to be on the podium this weekend.

Alex Marquez

How cool would it be to see the Marquez brother battle it out for the world championship this season? Alex has finished 2nd to his brother in both races this season, so a podium finish is certainly a possibility here.
