For football fans that don’t really have a dog in the fight, this is turning into a fantastic season. We are seeing surprise results every single week, while no one team has really dominated the proceedings to look like a major Super Bowl favorite. MyBookie Sportsbook NFL Odds, American Football NFL Lines | Cleveland Browns vs Baltimore Ravens
That, though, is likely to change as we head into the second half of the season. This is very often when we see the true contenders emerge, with a couple of teams likely to start getting hot as the charge for the playoffs continues unabated. We have a big game coming this weekend in what is proving to be a very competitive AFC North Division. The Ravens are coming into this one on a very good run of form, but these divisional games tend to be tight and totally unpredictable. Baltimore is a 6-point favorite, with the O/U set at 37 ½. Let’s take a closer look at how things have gone for both teams this season.

Cleveland Browns
Whenever it seems as though the Browns are headed in the direction, they seem to go out and actively create their own roadblocks. One of the most recent of those appears to be the money they spent to land DeShaun Watson as their starting QB. It was easy to write of his mediocre performance last season given that he hasn’t played in a year and a half, but that poor play has spilled over into the 2023 season. Injuries have been an issue for Watson this season, but he returned last weekend with a solid performance, so perhaps things are turning around. Through all of this, the Browns have managed to put together a 5-3 record, although at 1-2 in division play, this is a win that they really need. We will get into their stats and trends in a separate article, so let’s now go ahead and take a closer look at their opponent this weekend.

Baltimore Ravens
While some of the preseason Super Bowl favorites, most notably the Buffalo Bills, are having their struggles, the Ravens are very quietly moving up the Power Rankings. They lead the North with a 7-2 record and come into this game on a 4-game win streak. What has some people starting to sit up and take notice of the Ravens is the way they are playing on the offensive side of the football over the past few weeks. After failing to really get going on offense in the early going, the Ravens have now crossed the 30-point mark in each of their last 3 games, although they may have a tough time keeping that streak alive against a Brown team that is very stingy on defense. We will dig a little deeper into their stats and trends when we break all of that down in another article.
If you want more info on the stats and betting trends for both teams, we have you covered there. We will create another article delivering all that info, as well as delivering a score prediction of our own.
Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens: Team Stats & Betting Trends
Prior to the start of the season, the belief was that the AFC North would be a tight divisional race, which is exactly how things are playing out. The surprise to this point has been the slow start of the Cincinnati Bengals, but they appear to be pulling themselves out of that slump and could prove to be a force in the second half of the season. With all of that in mind, these divisional matchups are huge, as it could well be the divisional records of the 4 teams that prove to be the tiebreaker when all is said and done. The Browns need this one to stay close to the Ravens, while Baltimore could open up a lead at the top with the win here. Let’s now take a moment to break down the stats and trends for each team, which we will close out by making a prediction for this game. The Ravens are a 6-point favorite, with the O/U set at 37 ½.
Cleveland Browns Stats and Trends
Let’s get things rolling by talking about the Browns on the offensive side of the football, which is a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde story, if truth be told. Through the air, they are averaging a touch over 187 YPG, which has them way down near the bottom in that particular stat. Where they have had real success is on the ground, where they have averaged 144 YPG, which is good enough for 3rd in the league.
What’s all the more impressive there is that they have posted that number despite losing Nick Chubb for the season. They are middle of the pack in points scored per game, but the defense is killing it, surrendering just 17 PPG, which has them top 3.
The Browns have won 4 of their last 6 games overall, but they have not been great when visiting Baltimore, winning in just 4 of their last 16 visits. Things are not that much better against the spread, as they have covered just twice in their last 8 versus the Ravens. The UNDER has hit in 6 of their last 9 conference games.
Baltimore Ravens Stats and Trends
If the stats tell us anything about this matchup, its that we can probably expect the run game to be the deciding factor in this one. Much like the Browns, Baltimore is definitely doing better on the ground than they are through the air. They are averaging 208 YPG throwing the football, which has them down in 20th, but are leading the league in rushing with 160 YPG on the ground, which is a testament to the scrambling power of Lamar Jackson. They are averaging close to 27 PPG, good for 6th, while the defense is surrendering just shy of 14 PPG, which is the best in the league.
The Ravens have won 4 in a row and 5 of their last 6 games overall, as well as being a very solid 13-2 SU in their last 15 home meetings with the Browns. They have been money against the spread, covering in 8 of their last 11 games. The Ravens have turned their home into a bit of a defensive fortress, with 10 of their last 11 in their own building going UNDER the point total.
Browns vs Ravens NFL Odds and Score Prediction
If you are familiar with the AFC North, you probably already know that divisional matchups are very often hard hitting and low scoring. With both teams better on the ground, scoring may be at a premium here. I have the UNDER, as well as the Ravens winning and covering.
