MLB Betting Predictions for the Complete San Diego @ Chicago Series

MLB Betting Predictions for the Complete San Diego @ Chicago Series

The San Diego Padres visit historic Wrigley Field this week for a big series against the Chicago Cubs. It’s still very early in the season, but both teams look like they should be able to stay in the playoff race throughout the season.

San Diego is one of the hottest teas in baseball as they have now improved their record to 12-12 on the year. The Padres are expected to be a top contender in the National League, and they are starting to look the part after getting healthy.

Chicago has been a major surprise this season as they have gone 12-9 through their first 21 games. The Cubs did just lose three of four games against the Los Angeles Dodgers, and they have faced a loaded schedule this season.

The opening lines for the series opener were set at EVEN, and that shows just how tight this matchup might be.

MLB San Diego vs. Chicago Series: Tuesday, April 25 – Thursday, April 27

Padres Looking For Pitching

The San Diego Padres have been dealing with a number of injuries to begin the year, and it has really impacted the pitching staff. San Diego has a team ERA that is approaching 4.50, and that’s just not going to get the job done.

This team is going to score a ton of runs, and they are now going to be even better with Fernando Tatis Jr. back in the mix. Xander Bogaerts has been killing the ball to begin the year as he leads the team with five home runs and a .330 batting average.

San Diego might be hitting their stride as well, as they have now won four of their last five games. If the wind is blowing out at Wrigley Field, then the Padres will be tough to stop.

Cubs Scoring Some Runs

The Chicago Cubs come into this series having scored 121 runs this season, and they are capable of having a big offensive day at any time. Patrick Wisdom has provided plenty of power this season as he leads the team with 9 home runs and 18 RBIs.

Nico Hoerner and Dansby Swanson make that offense go, and the Cubs have also pitched the ball extremely well. Chicago comes into this series with a team ERA of 3.67, and they have a terrific starting rotation.

The Cubs will start the series with Justin Steele on the mound, and he is 3-0 with a 1.44 ERA this season. If the Cubs continue to pitch the ball well, then that offense should carry them to a ton of wins.

Surprising Cubs Will Battle

San Diego is going to go on and have a much better season than the Chicago Cubs, but that doesn’t matter in an early-season series. This Cubs team has a loaded roster full of veterans, and they can also grind out at-bats against opposing pitchers.

The Padres just haven’t been pitching the ball well to begin the season, and they can’t rely on that offense to deliver every single game. San Diego will have at least one big offensive game in this one, but their pitchers will have a tough time as well.

Don’t be surprised to see the Cubs take two out of three games in this series as they will have some favorable pitching matchups in this one.
