NBA Season Series
This concludes the regular-season series with the Lakers leading 2-1 but having lost the last matchup 127-116 on Jan. 23 when the Clippers were also the “home” team. Kawhi Leonard had 25 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for only his second career triple-double, including three key assists in the fourth when the Clippers were clinging to a narrow lead. The team had 33 assists. James Harden had 23 points and 10 assists. D’Angelo Russell led the Lakers with 27 points and 10 assists and Anthony Davis had 26 points and 12 rebounds. LeBron James was out injured. The two teams have met 238 times overall and on 171 occasions since the Clippers moved to Los Angeles. The Lakers lead 152-86.
Why Bet on LA Lakers?
The Lakers are off a 123-113 loss in Phoenix on Sunday as Grayson Allen and Royce O’Neale hit crucial 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions to put the Suns up 116-104 with three minutes left. Suns center Jusuf Nurkic added one of the best all-around games of his career with 18 points, 22 rebounds and seven assists. “Those three guys were the stars of the game tonight,” Suns coach Frank Vogel said.
LeBron James had 28 points, 12 assists and seven rebounds despite being a game-time decision with an ankle injury. James has handed out 10 or more assists in 11 games this season, recording at least 25 points, 10 assists and five rebounds on five occasions. Anthony Davis added 22 points and 14 rebounds – he was a game-time decision with Achilles and hip issues. Davis has recorded a double-double in eight of his last 10 games, posting at least 20 points and 10 rebounds in seven of those outings.
D’Angelo Russell added 20 points, including 4-for-8 from deep, and seven assists. Russell has connected on four or more threes in 17 games this year, including in three of his last six contests. Over his last 10 appearances, Russell has surpassed the 20-point mark five times. Russell also has 39 assists in the past four games.
Possession after possession, the star Suns duo of Kevin Durant and Devin Booker beat the Lakers’ perimeter defense with a flurry of jumpers and passes that led to more jumpers. That is something that has become a disconcerting trend for the Lakers despite their improved play of late. When removing garbage time, the Lakers have ranked 24th in defensive rating (119 points allowed per 100 possessions) in their last 15 games according to Cleaning the Glass. For context, they were 11th (114.0) before the New Year.
In addition, the Lakers’ inability to secure defensive rebounds has been a lingering issue all season but more so of late. In their last 15 games, opposing teams are pulling down 30.5% of their misses. That’s the second-highest mark allowed in the league.
Cam Reddish was out Sunday with a right ankle sprain. Initially questionable for Sunday’s game, Reddish will remain on the sideline. He hasn’t appeared in a game since injuring his ankle on Jan. 23. Spencer Dinwiddie and Max Christie have largely taken his minutes. Also out were Jarred Vanderbilt (right midfoot sprain), Gabe Vincent (left knee surgery) and Christian Wood (left knee effusion).
We might see LeBron and Davis listed questionable on Wednesday because they often are but usually play.
Why Bet on LA Clippers?
The Clippers were upset at home by Sacramento on Sunday, 123-107, although LA was without All-Star Paul George due to a minor injury and he will also miss this game. George has played in 52 games and is averaging 22.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.6 steals per contest while shooting 45.6% from the field and 39.5% from the three-point range.
The Clippers cut their deficit to five early in the fourth before the Kings had them down 10. After again rallying to get to 101-96 on Terance Mann’s three-point play, the Clippers soon trailed by 10 again.
“When you’re playing from behind like that, it’s tough,” Clippers coach Tyronn Lue said. “One mistake, one wrong play and the lead goes back up. You can’t get that far down, especially against a good team.”
Kawhi Leonard compiled 20 points, eight rebounds, three assists, four steals and a blocked shot with his line almost identical to the 20/8/4/3/1 line he posted against Memphis on Friday. Norman Powell started for George and had 21 points after Powell himself missed the previous game injured. James Harden had 20 points but was just 2-for-10 from deep while adding eight helpers and five rebounds.
It could be that Lue decides to bring Powell off the bench this time, though, because the Lakers are a bigger team and Lue might need a bigger starting frontcourt. Powell is averaging 13.5 points as a reserve while shooting 49.4% from the field and 45.3% from three. Powell ranks first in the NBA in games with at least 10 points off the bench (43), and is the only player in the NBA to be shooting at least 49% from the field, 45% from three and 83% from the free-throw line off the bench (min. 20 GP)
The Clippers rank second in the NBA in three-point percentage (39.4), fifth in plus/minus differential (5.1) and steals (7.9), and tied for sixth in FG% (49.2). Since November 17, the Clippers have the second-best record in the NBA at 34-12. During the span, LAC ranks third in offensive rating (120.6), second in 3P% (39.8), and sixth in plus/minus differential (5.9) and in FG% (49.5).
The Clippers are 20-7 at home (.741), the fourth-best winning percentage on home court in the NBA. LA is tied for second in the NBA at home in three-point shooting (39.5%), and sixth in overall field-goal percentage (49.7) and in plus/minus differential (6.7) on home court.
This week, the Clippers unveiled a new logo but it won’t be used until next season as part of the move to the new arena. The logo features a new compass rose, one that forms a letter C with an oncoming Clipper ship while the ship creates the points of the four directions. The Clippers received permission to reveal the new branding during the season instead of during the draft in June because the construction of Intuit Dome has progressed to the point where the new logo will start appearing inside the building.

The Clippers lead 3-0 and have won 10 in a row against the Lakers. The teams last played on Jan. 24 and the Clippers prevailed 133-115 as the “road” team. LeBron James hit a career-high nine 3-pointers while scoring 46 points in the loss. James scored at least 40 points against the Clippers for the first time in his 20-year career, giving him a 40-point game against all 30 teams in the NBA. The Clippers made 19 three-pointers of their own. Paul George had 27 points and nine rebounds, and Kawhi Leonard added 25 points for the Clips. George is currently out injured.
Why Bet on LA Lakers?
It’s the second of a back-to-back for the Lakers after they won a fourth straight game Tuesday, 135-133 in overtime in Utah. LeBron James played 38 minutes and had 37 points, six assists and five rebounds. He had the go-ahead basket with 27 seconds left in OT after missing the potential winning layup on the final play of regulation.
Leading the Jazz by 11 at the half, the Lakers appeared to be on their way to getting LeBron and Anthony Davis additional rest ahead of Wednesday’s game but four starters played between 38 and 42 minutes. James’ 37 points are the most he’s had in a game since Feb. 7. Davis had 21 points and 14 rebounds for the Lakers. Austin Reaves added 28 points.
Davis hasn’t played in both games of a back-to-back set since November. James anticipated playing only 30 to 32 minutes Tuesday and admitted the extra five minutes didn’t help. Both players have been dealing with lingering right foot injuries. James said how he feels Wednesday morning will dictate if he’s ready to go against the Clippers.
“It’s always when you step out of bed for the first time in the morning,” James said. “How does it feel? Because that’s going to dictate the rest of the day.” Guard D’Angelo Russell was out Tuesday with an injury but might play tonight. He’s dealing with left foot soreness.
Coach Darvin Ham said it would be a “group decision” between players, coaching staff, front office and medical staff to make the call for Wednesday on the status for James, Davis and Russell.
The Lakers are 16-7 in their past 23 games, vaulting from No. 12 in the Western Conference on the day of the Rui Hachimura acquisition to the No. 7 seed with three games remaining in the regular season. While the Lakers are guaranteed a play-in spot. they could finish as high as No. 5 in the West depending on how the regular season concludes.
These two teams have met 234 times overall and on 168 occasions since the Clippers moved to Los Angeles. The Lakers lead the all-time series 150-84 (104-64 vs. LAC). The Lakers have lost 11 season series in the all-time matchup with the Clippers (2020-23, 2012-18, 1992-93 and 1974-75).

Why Bet on LA Clippers?
The Clippers remain without All-Star Paul George and the club is hoping he’s ready for the start of the playoffs. George is just one of three players in the NBA this season to be averaging at least 23 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.5 steals.
LA comes off a 122-114 loss in New Orleans on Saturday. Kawhi Leonard had 40 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Leonard has been stellar over his last 11, posting averages of 27.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists. Former Laker Russell Westbrook finished with 24 points and nine assists. Since joining the Clippers, he’s averaged 14.6 points, 4.9 boards, 7.7 dimes and 1.2 steals. Those numbers are similar to those he put up with the Lakers, but his shooting efficiency has improved from 41.7% to 48.2%.
Westbrook’s season and a half with the Lakers fell far short of expectations, and the always-amped-up Westbrook will be highly motivated to face LeBron James and the Lakers. Westbrook’s new Clippers teammates know how much this game will mean to the former MVP point guard.
“We know what’s been said [in] the media, what’s been said about him and his time there,” guard Norman Powell said. “We’ve always shown the support since Day 1 since he’s got here and bringing him into the fold, bringing him into the family. For any player, going up against a former organization that you were just with, you want to kind of stick it to them. So I think it’s an important game for him and us as well.”
Both Marcus Morris and Eric Gordon are questionable tonight. Morris is no longer in the league’s health and safety protocols but is dealing with a new issue: back spasms. Gordon did not play in Saturday’s loss to the Pelicans with hip issues but practiced Tuesday.
The Clippers have scored over 100 points in 36 of their last 39 contests. Since January 6, the Clippers are fifth in the NBA in offensive rating (117.8) and first in 3P% (39.5). Ivica Zubac currently ranks seventh in the NBA in total rebounds (725). Zubac joins DeAndre Jordan as the only two players in franchise history to start the first seven games of a season with at least 80 rebounds and 20 blocked shots.

Lakers vs Clippers NBA Week 16 Odds & Expert Pick
Previous Betting News
There is still a good chunk of the current NBA season still to be played, but with the All-Star Game right around the corner, it is certainly not too early to start thinking about the playoffs. We are, in both conferences, getting some great battles going, as this is one of the tightest races in recent memory. The Western Conference is particularly tight, which suggests that the race for playoff rankings is one that is potentially going to go all the way down to the wire. We are seeing a great duel between the Warriors and the Nuggets at the top, but there are also a number of great little battles going on a little further down the standings.
At the moment, the LA Clippers are holding grimly on to the #8 seed in the West, a couple of games up on their city rivals, the LA Lakers. These two will go head to head on Thursday night in what is a critical game for both. The Clippers can get a little more breathing room, while the Lakers can creep closer to the playoff line. The Clippers are in as a 5 point favorite, with the point total set at 228.

Why bet on the LA Lakers?
The LA Lakers have been simply trying to stay afloat in the absence of LeBron James, but they have had limited success, dropping down below the playoff line while the best player in the world sits on the sidelines with an injury. The good news is that James is expected to be back sooner rather than later, but he may need to put in a real shift in the final couple of months, as the Lakers could potentially find themselves 3 games back of the playoff line with a loss on Thursday night.
While this is deemed a road game for the Lakers, they are still playing in their own building. Still, we need to look at this as a road game, which means seeing a 10-13 record in that regard. The Lakers are 7-5 ATS when in as a road underdog.
Why bet on the LA Clippers?
At 28-23 on the season, the Clippers find themselves in the #8 spot in the Western Conference, 2 games ahead of the Lakers, who are in the #9 slot. Over the past month or so, the Clippers have been slowly but surely losing ground to the teams ahead of them, and they are coming into this one going just 4-6 in their last 10 games.
This may be a match-up that helps snap them out of it, though, as they have owned the Lakers over the past couple of seasons, winning 7 of their last 8 meetings against their city rivals. That includes a 118-107 win in their first meeting of this season. The Clippers have been a good bet as a favorite, going 19-10 ATS, which includes going 12-7 ATS as a home favorite.
Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction for Lakers vs Clippers
While neither of these teams is going particularly well at the moment, I think it’s the Clippers that have the slight edge here. I like them to win this one, covering the spread in the process. I think this one might just creep OVER the point total.

The Clippers lead 2-0. The teams last played Feb. 3 and the Clips prevailed 111-110. Reggie Jackson scored 25 points, including a driving layup with four seconds remaining. There were four lead changes in the final 30 seconds, including Jackson’s winning basket. Anthony Davis, who led the Lakers with 30 points and 17 rebounds, had a chance to win it but missed a running floater as time expired. Marcus Morris Sr. led the Clippers with 29 points, while Serge Ibaka added 20 points and nine rebounds.
Amazingly, the Clippers have won 30 of the past 37 in the series.
Why Bet on LA Clippers?
The Clippers (30-31) closed the first half with a 142-111 destruction of Houston. Luke Kennard scored 25 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Kennard lost against Karl-Anthony Towns in the final round of the Three-Point Contest on Saturday. Reggie Jackson put up 12 points and 14 assists. Jackson had 10 assists at halftime, which put him on pace to tie his career-high 20 dimes that he dropped in 2015.
Marcus Morris had 27 points vs. Houston to lead the Clippers. The veteran forward converted a season-high nine free-throws and didn’t miss from the charity stripe while also going 4-of-8 from beyond the arc. Morris has scored at least 20 points in six of his past eight contests.
Los Angeles remains without the injured Paul George. He is expected to need a “two-week ramp-up period” before returning to game action if his MRI on Thursday reveals positive news. George has been shut down since late December due to his right elbow sprain, but his MRI should provide a better idea of his return timetable. Even if doctors determine he’ll be able to play through the injury rather than undergoing season-ending surgery, he’ll require several weeks to ramp up the intensity of his workouts and regain his conditioning.
Health continues to be the biggest factor for the Clippers’ success this season. The injury bug struck in all points of the season. Most recently, Norman Powell is out for the next 4-8 weeks due to a sesamoid fracture in his left foot.
The departure of backup point guard Eric Bledsoe in trade has opened up the opportunity for Terance Mann to shine. In his third season, Mann is averaging career-highs in minutes (28.9), points (10.5), rebounds (5.2), assists (2.4), and steals (0.7). Mann also is shooting 48.4% from the field and 36.0% on 3-pointers, which is a respectable mark for him. One thing that’s made Mann valuable to the Clippers is his durability. Mann has played in 60 of the team’s 61 games thus far this season, which puts him in a tie with Orlando’s Franz Wagner as the NBA’s leader in games played.
The Clippers have the 18th strongest schedule remaining in the league. With the tough stretches in January and February behind them, the Clippers need to take advantage and rack up wins to get to the playoffs.
Why Bet on LA Lakers?
Los Angeles (27-31) is ninth in the Western Conference – on track to need to go 2-0 in play-in games, including one on the road, just to make the playoffs. This will be the Lakers’ first game since losing Anthony Davis for four weeks to a foot injury suffered last Wednesday in a win over Utah. He severely rolled his right ankle and fell to the court after catching a pass near the rim in the second quarter. He remained on the floor in obvious pain before he was eventually helped off the court.
It marks another tough injury break for Davis, who already had missed 17 straight games from late December to late January with a sprained MCL in his left knee. Injuries limited Davis to 36 games during the 2020-21 season. The 10-year NBA veteran has played more than 70 regular-season games just twice in his career. He’s averaged 23.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and 1.2 steals in 37 games this season.
LeBron James has scored 25+ points in 23 consecutive games, good for the longest active streak in the NBA and tied with Joel Embiid for the longest such streak in the association this season. James has tied Elgin Baylor for the longest single-season streak of 25-point games by a Lakers player.
The Lakers and Clippers have met 229 times overall and on 163 occasions since the Clippers moved to Los Angeles. The Lakers lead the all-time series 150-79 (104-59 vs. LAC). The Lakers have lost nine season series in the all-time matchup with the Clippers (2020-21, 2012-18, 1992-93 and 1974-75). The Lakers are 23-19 all-time against the Clippers in home games at Crypto.com Arena.
Carmelo Anthony hasn’t played since Feb. 3 due to a hamstring injury but is trending toward returning Friday. Signed to a veteran’s minimum contract during offseason NBA free agency, Anthony has been a consistent bright spot for the Lakers amid a challenging campaign. He is averaging 13.4 points and 4.2 rebounds on the year, occupying the Lakers’ primary sixth man role.

Why bet on Los Angeles Clippers to cover at +4 ½?
Last year’s NBA Finals hero, Kawhi Leonard, has dominated as an L.A. Clipper. Kawhi averages close to 27 points while grabbing 7 boards and dishing the rock 5 times per. Leonard is so talented he can play 3 positions on the court. Coach Doc Rivers hasn’t required him to do that, though. Why? Because in addition to having Kawhi, the Clipps also send Paul George to the court. Both superstars are unselfish. That’s what makes the Clippers so difficult to beat. PG-13 and Kawhi will do what it takes for the team to win.
Why bet on the Los Angeles Lakers to cover at -4?
There won’t be a more motivated player in Orlando than the great LeBron “The King” James. LeBron James averages 27.7 points, 7.9 boards, and 10.6 assists. The King knows he’s got the best team he’s had in a while. LeBron wants to win a championship. He won’t allow his teammates to fold. Starting with the first game back, expect LeBron to push his teammates to excel. That could be all it takes for the Lakers to win and cover.
NBA Clippers vs Lakers Final Betting Analysis
The spread makes the Lakers an underlay. Notice a name missing from the expected starting five? Yep. Anthony Davis, LAL’s top scorer, may sit this one out.
Davis’ eye is bothering him. Although Laker coach Frank Vogel hopes AD plays, let’s be honest. The Lakers have no incentive to win “home court”. That means, they should sit Davis if he’s not one-hundred percent.
Down the sidelines, Kawhi and George will play. That gives the Clippers a massive edge.
Don’t get fancy. Take the points. The Clippers don’t have much incentive to go all out during the 8-game sprint for seeding either. But, since both their superstars will be on the court and the Lakers will likely have just one of their stars, back the Clipps to cover.

Previous Betting News
It’s the time of year when wagering on the NBA can get a little trickier, as you get scenarios where teams that have made the playoffs start to keep some of their better players on the bench. That can allow lesser teams to sneak up and get wins where they would ordinarily be blown out. We may well have a situation like that when the Clippers and Lakers hook up in the battle of LA on Wednesday night. The difference here is that Blake Griffin is making his way back into the Clippers line-up after an extended layoff with a broken hand. The Clippers are almost certainly going to try and get the rust shaken off by playing him as much as humanly possible before the postseason gets underway. That could end up being bad news for the Lakers. You can keep up to date with the odds on this one by checking out the NBA betting lines page at MyBookie.ag.

Why bet on the LA Clippers
The Clippers (48-28) know exactly where they are going to be when the playoffs start, which is the #4 seed in the Western Conference. There is really nothing for them to play for at the moment other than getting Griffin back up to game speed in the final few games. They will have back to back games versus the Lakers on Tuesday and Wednesday night, and you really would expect them to win both. Going back to the 2013-14 season, the Clippers have won 9 straight games against the Lakers, which is a rather telling stat as to the gulf that exists between these two teams. LA come into this one having gone 6-4 in their last 10, and they will be looking to build some momentum for the postseason. The Clippers are averaging 104.7 PPG, and are giving up 100.9 PPG.
Why bet on the LA Lakers
Things are not good in the Lakers (16-60) world right now, and I am not just talking about their performances on the court. This is a team that is fractured right now, with D’Angelo Williams on the outs with his teammates after secretly recording Nick Young talking about women other than his own. Young has been described as “not mentally there” in the wake of this weird situation, and he may well be on the bench the rest of the way. It is going to be interesting to see how the Lakers deal with all of this in the offseason, as it’s increasingly obvious that things need to change. The Lakers are averaging 97.7 PPG, and are giving up 106.9 PPG. They have only managed 2 wins in their last 10 games.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
Given how easily the Clippers have handled the Lakers over the past few years, I might be willing to do a Tuesday and Wednesday night parlay, taking the Clippers to win both of course.
