While we are still in the very early stages of the college basketball season, we are now beginning to see things take shape, as the cream is starting to rise to the top. With the early season neutral site tournaments all now down, we can turn our attention to the rest of the regular season with another jam-packed week of action. We will have all kinds of picks and previews coming for you this week, but we thought it might be fun to get out the crystal ball early and take a look ahead at the next few days. The College Basketball Odds are not released for the games we are going to talk about here, but we have picked out a few that we think will be great to wager on, so let’s get to it.
Men’s College Basketball Betting Picks & Options for the Week
Texas Southern Tigers at Kansas Jayhawks – Monday
In terms of the overall schedule, Monday has to be considered a bit of a quiet day in the world of college basketball. One game that we have out eye on, though, sees the Kansas Jayhawks welcome in the Texas Southern Tigers. This, of course, looks to be a pretty straightforward matchup for the Jayhawks, but the interesting thing here is to see how they will react after taking their first loss of the season to Tennessee a couple of days ago. They are in as a heavy favorite here and I think the Tigers might be about to be onto a beating as Kansas looks to rebound.
Baylor Bears at Marquette Golden Eagles – Tuesday
The Baylor Bears are currently ranked #7 in the nation, going 5-1 through their opening 6 games. They head into this week having won 2 in a row, and while they are likely to be the favorite for this game, this is not an easy road trip by any stretch of the imagination. Marquette have also won 2 in a row and are at 5-2 on the season. When you look at all the stats for these two teams, Baylor has the edge, but it is close. I’d be keeping an eye on the point spread odds here.
Ohio State Buckeyes at Duke Blue Devils – Wednesday
This season is the beginning of a new era for Duke, who are moving forward after the retirement of Coach K. It may be a new era, but it’s basically business as usual for the Blue Devils, who come into this week ranked in the top 10 with a 6-2 record. They will almost certainly be in as the favorite on home court for this one, but it is by no means an easy matchup against the 5-1 Buckeyes. Can Ohio State keep things close against a Duke team that is a perfect 4-0 at home?
Creighton Bluejays at Texas Longhorns – Thursday
What better way to end this preview than with a matchup between a pair of teams currently ranked in the top 10. Both teams are very close in terms of PPG scored, but the Longhorns have a definite edge in defensive stats. For Creighton, this will be a test of their mettle this week, as they closed out last week with a loss that dropped them to 6-1 on the season. The Texas Longhorns are, at time of writing, still perfect, as well as being 4-0 at home. A slight edge to Texas in this one.
