The Kansas City Chiefs are once again readying themselves to make a long playoff run. At 9-3, the Chiefs are currently sitting in the #2 spot in the AFC Playoffs. They’ll try to improve their record to 10-3 this weekend, as they head to Denver to take on the Broncos. While the Chiefs have been flourishing, the Broncos have been floundering.
Let’s take a look at this AFC West matchup, we’ll give you a brief preview of each team, and then we’ll give you our NFL Betting prediction.
Will the Struggles Continue for the Denver Broncos? | Kansas City Chiefs at Denver
Kansas City Chiefs
Patrick Mahomes is having another great season for the Chiefs. Even without much of a rushing attack, the Chiefs continue to have a great offense. Many feared that trading Tyreek Hill away would really hurt the offense, but it hasn’t. Travic Kelce has taken on the role of the lead receiver, and the tight end has been fabulous. As far as the wide receivers go, Mahomes has spread the wealth this season. Whatever Andy Reid does, it always seems to work.
Defensively, the Chiefs have also had a very nice season. Although they struggled against the Cincinnati Bengals last week, this unit has been one of the main reasons the Chiefs have been so successful. The Chiefs pass rush has given teams issues this year, and it could be big in this week’s game.
Denver Broncos
Prior to the season, the expectations for the Denver Broncos were high. With the acquisition of Russell Wilson, many felt that the Broncos could make a Super Bowl run, as he was the missing piece to the puzzle. Unfortunately for the Broncos, Wilson has been a huge disappointment this season, and is taking a good portion of the blame for Denver’s abysmal season.
Besides Wilson struggling, head coach Nathaniel Hackett, an offensive guru, has not done a good job with the offense this season. Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy have been huge disappointments, and with the season-ending injury to Javonte Williams, the Denver running game has been non-existent.
The lone bright spot for the Broncos this season has been the defense. Even after trading Bradley Chubb, the Denver defense is still one of the best in the league. Patrick Surtain II arguably leads the best secondary in the league. Denver’s defense is doing everything it can to help the Broncos win, so much of the blame on Denver’s poor record should go to the offense and some of the coaching decisions.
Prediction
The Kansas City Chiefs have been made nine-point favorites in their matchup with the Broncos. The Chiefs are looking to avenge last week’s loss against the Bengals. Kansas City is 10-3 against the spread in its last 13 games against Denver. Denver is 5-11 against the spread in its last 16 games. Denver’s season has been a mess, and it will continue to be a mess this Sunday. Russell Wilson will struggle once again, and the Denver offense won’t be able to put up much of a fight. Kansas City wins this one big and easily covers the nine point spread.
